Come on, guys. Everyone knows Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1782 with Jack Sparrow aboard the Black Pearl along with the Mayflower and Titanic
Zachary Spriggs it was in 1972 on the Queen Elizabeth II Columbus discovered Ohio. And he moved there using a Mayflower moving van. I believe he got there via the Saint Lawrence Seaway on the Edmund Fitzgerald. After the Fitzgerald let him off, it went on to Lake Superb and wrecked.
Zachary Spriggs Good ol days!
Holy libtard, that's pure hilarity!
The Titanic? Dude, that's the ship the Nazis bombed at Pearl Harbor!!! It was the Lusitania that Columbus sailed on ;)

Not only that, but she insisted there was slavery in America for 400 years, but the actual number is about 246 years and the majority of African slaves went to South America and the Caribbean. Around 5% of African slaves came to America. Still not a good look, but more factual.

Exactly lol 😂 My old teacher from high school would always counter idiots in class who say stuff about giving back the land by saying "well I guess you need to leave your house and give it to some natives"
It’s basically put up or shut up
@@kensonnezumi its quite attainable i just think its incorrect
By giving back the land, you take down schools and churchs. If Native Americans are that selfish then yeah?
Yuuji - absolutely incorrect and untenable. Incorrect because the "land" at the time of most of the European expansion across what is now the US was largely uninhabited and unclaimed (most Natives didn't even comprehend the concept of land ownership). Yes, there were some atrocities committed by whites against Natives, but guess what, the Natives weren't just a happy, peaceful idyllic culture when the whites arrived. Many saw frontier white settlers as ripe for pillage, plunder, rape and murder. In a lot of cases whites were merely defending themselves and their homesteads, which they carved out of uncultivated wilderness. So yeah, incorrect.
Untenable because if this notion were to be fully implemented to it's consistent logical conclusion, only the direct descendants of the first person to set eyes on a place had the right to be there. That means all the blacks with no Indigenous American ancestry go back to their various native lands in Africa, all the Asians back to their original native lands, all the whities back to Europe/Russia. Now if you want to continue to employ this strategy on the world...Africa gets a HUGE population rearrangement due to its history of conquest and occupation, heck, the whole world does. You can't unwind this ball of yarn back to the point where nobody inhabits land their ancestors didn't "take from someone else."
I can't wait for that Steven Crowder/Prager U video about Columbus
That's what I hoped it was. :-(
Why? The Spaniards sent their worst to America at that time, and those people failed miserably at everything except in killing everyone, and even that was an accident. LOL. South America is the way it is because the Conquistadors of it were crap, unlike the ones who landed on NA. For example, Argentina did capitalism right only once at the beginning with Alberdi and it went downhill afterwards. And as a final point, I don't think we should celebrate mediocrity.
I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL TOP TIER INTELLECTUALS LIKE STEVEN CROWDER AND HIGHLY REPUTABLE UNIVERSITY LIKE PRAGER U MAKE A VIDEO DENYING GENOCIDE

Columbus was a great man and he shaped history, in the same way that men like Napoleon and Marco Polo and Genghis Khan did. He's an important historical figure.
But I don't believe that means he should be featured with a major holiday in modern day America. He was one of the greatest explorers and happened to explore in this area of the world, but he has nothing to do with the country the United States has become.
He was sent back in chains after the queen of spain heard what he was doing...
Bluemacaroni120 Only for 6 weeks though. I'd call that a slap on the hand. It was for poor governance, too. I doubt the Queen of Spain cared much about the natives, as unfortunate as that it😂
Not quite, even by the standards of the time what he instigated was considered terrible (reported by one of his own crew who latter became a monk), things like feeding native children to dogs, stripping the land of all wealth and managing to wipe out an entire island race through slavery, murder and child sexual exploitation :(

@@Moz31 dude, it was discovered that America is a different continent after Columbus' death
@@Moz31 no he did not. He was still thinking he landed at the esst Coast of asia. Thats why he called them Indians. He thought he is nearby INDIA.
We can celebrate Columbus Day, because he and his crew were the first Europeans to "discover" America for the old world. His actions subsequently led to the establishment of the colonies and eventually the birth of our country. That is extremely important.
@NicKingPapiChulo I've never heard any conservative, aside from conspracist Alex Jones, accuse Mohammed of being a terrible person.
Colombus didnt discover america, he was trying to sail under it but discovered it went on forever! Why do you think he went so far south from europe?
NicKingPapiChulo Columbus was NOT a pedo. Columbos complained about the robbing and sexual slavery of natives in his letter (Letter to the nurse), especially when done to children. This is why he cut off colonist hands and noises. Get your facts straight
"(please check out what him and his men wrote themselves about their deeds)"
What you really mean is from one specific 1892 English translation of the 1530 transcript of Columbus' journals, originally written 30 years earlier. This is like quoting Jesus. He didn't speak English. What you're reading is centuries old translations of a 3rd person account of what he said written hundreds of years afterwards... You're probably like, "What does that have to do with anything?" Well, those original transcripts and translations of Columbus journals were written in 3rd person too. None of Columbus' journals survived, all we have are transcriptions of his journals, written by Bartolome le las Casas. A lot of people think he traveled with Columbus, but nope, he arrived in April, 1502 with Nicolás de Ovando. This was 3 months before Columbus fourth voyage arrived in the new world. La Casas was accused of exaggerating the atrocities, always exaggerated numbers, and even made up atrocities. Modern historians also disregard La Casas numbers and literature that were paraphrased. This was made even worse with the black legend, which was a propaganda campaign by the English to make the Spanish look bad.
exactly what I was thinking!
Because the earth is flat?
Do you think we should give the land back to the natives?
"Yes."
Pack you suitcases! We're going back!

Hate to break it to you, but Leif Eriksson was the first European to step foot on American soil.
Isak really ?
So what indigenous people would we give the land back to? Would those indigenous tribes in turn give the land back to the indigenous tribes that they stole it from? Every country on this planet has stolen the land from others at some time or other. So should every country just give their land back to whomever was the first to occupy it?
Exactly, people nowadays have just started blaming the whites for everything, and they actually think doing that isn't racist
Couldn't anyways, the Arawak went extinct by 1650
Viol, most people say things to sound good to other people. Even if you said X land will be transferred to Y people, most would not except the offer or resell the land to the previous tenants. Most working people would not uproot their family for uncertainty, when they are living in good times.

Do what my country, Canada did. Just replace it with Thanksgiving. Celebrate Thanksgiving on that Monday instead.
And with Thanksgiving no longer in November, you have an excuse to put up Christmas decorations early. :)
Christopher Columbus never stepped foot on the ground that is now the United States. He did not 'discover' the US. He was not the first person to get here. In fact, the Vikings got here about 500 years before the Spaniards did. We need to switch 'Columbus Day' to 'Vikings discover the Americas' day instead. How about Wotansvolk Day?
That's retarded and ignorant. Spain discovered America as a whole to the world. A random Viking landing in the US (Canada, actually) changes nothing. Spain discovered it FOR THE WORLD and colonised it first. That's why at one point in time 75 percent of the country's land was under Spanish control. You see that heritage in the US nowadays.
Cheers
How about Lief Erikson day? Hinger dinger durgen.
@@mervinhocsonart1921 I would want that, but a Columbus day too. Sure, give credit where credit is due. Cheers
Columbus Day was originally supposed to be Lief Erikson Day, but they wanted to emphasize the contributions of Italian Americans.
Columbus did set foot on what's now U.S. territory, in the Virgin Islands, specifically St. Croix. The plant and domesticated animal legacy of the Columbian voyages was immense, both ways. Potatoes, tomatoes, avocados, peppers, chocolate, vanilla, corn, turkey from the New World to the rest of the world. Sheep, pigs, horses, cattle, and many other foodstuffs from the Old World to the Americas. Columbus's discovery of the Americas accidental or otherwise on October 12, 1492 was a big time event and we are all living with his legacy. Nobody ever said that Christopher Columbus aka Cristobal Colon aka Cristoforo Colombo was a saint, but he was a brave and daring one. I'm all for going back to celebrating Columbus Day on October 12.
I would’ve asked something like “what’s stopping you from finding a native tribe and handing over the deed to your parent’s house?”
It’s their parent’s house?
I don’t see the problem with just renaming it Discovery Day. Still tell the story of Colombus (positive & negative) and don’t glorify him.
Well he did do some really great things. He isn't a bad person like they're teaching younger generations now. They are trying to make Americans hate their own Homeland so they will be the first to betray it. It's already working.

As I recall HE NEVER SET FOOT IN NORTH AMERICA!
Ya I believe he only made it into the Bahamas but we remember him because he brought the attention from real European country’s, specificity Great Britain, to the area that lead them to find what is now America. I don’t think we really celebrate what he did but we commemorate it.

@@kenriven5237 I'm baffled by the way the US completely ignores the huge role Spain had in the history of their own country. USA wasn't initially Italian nor Portuguese colonies. Columbus didn't take over native American lands, he just discovered them... actually, the Vikings did before him. We didn't start "invading" until at least 100 years later. Also, name one civilization in history that didn't conquer land in the formation of their empire. Even colonial america conquered British lands technically during the revolution. The first civilizations in history are the only ones that didn't conquer land, they claimed it. However, those tribes and societies fought a lot too. The point I'm trying to make is that it's somewhat irrelevant that we conquered native American lands. That was our ancestors, not us. We aren't responsible. Now we shouldn't discriminate against native Americans, and guess what? Legally we are equal, now in practice that could be better, it could always be better. A little history lesson here, Christopher Columbus did not discover Mainland North America, and never set foot on modern-day American Soil. He island hopped the Caribbean islands and on later voyages went to Central and South America. The only relevance to American history is that the continents names of America (later becoming North, South, and Central respectively) came from Amerigo Vespucci after he found that Columbus was wrong about saying he found a way to the East Indies, him jumpstarting the Spanish colonization, and Juan Ponce De Leon went with him on his second voyage in 1493, with Ponce de Leon becoming the ACTUAL person to land on mainland America in 1513. Leif Erikson is also believed to have set foot in mainland North America 500 years prior to Columbus, and let's not forget the native Americans that were already there as well. So by this token Ponce De Leon or Leif Erikson have more relevance to our history then Columbus does, and are more deserving of national holidays then Columbus is. (Note: Leif Erikson has his day on the 9th of October, but American history teaches Columbus and it isn't a national holiday, and Ponce de Leon has a day on April 8th when he claimed Florida for Spain, but that doesn't really show up on any celebration calendars now does it, which could be celebrated on the 3rd of April too as that's when he actually landed in Florida)

@@Mmvarto Well, it was good while it lasted.
Yes, Columbus was a good Catholic who discovered America.
I cant believe I missed you at CSUN. when will that video be up?
Yes
Celebrate it because it is tradition - broke
Celebrate it to fight SJWs - woke
*Celebrate it because it gives extra holidays and sales - god tier*
Oy vey
It's really a celebration of Old World meets New World. It's HUGE.
American slavery for 400 years? American is only 242 years old. And it's basically impossible to find a country that didn't have slavery at some point
Omg he has the ships' names on his shirt I'm gonna die of laughter
P I Ñ A
Jajajaja estos anglos no saben eh Sebastián.
Catholic Spaniard para nada.
Here’s an idea, film two different universities answering the same questions with a scorecard at the bottom of each response. Might be fun to put Engineering schools against liberal arts institutions.
I would really like a week of elections off in November. Voting is on Tuesday and then there is Veteran's Day on that Friday. On Election Day, 2016, that whole week should have been a holiday because it was extremely stressful.
No, he landed in the Caribbean not the Americas so we shouldn't do shit for him
Mojave Men thank modern education for these lame remarks.
@Paul Franklin i have nothing against white people. All I'm saying is he didn't discover America. Amerigo Vespucci did. So if anyone should be celebrated it's him not Columbus.
I want my day off so shut up
@@GretchentheAlligator last time I checked, we don't get the day off. Atleast I don't.
@Paul Franklin I earned my place in this country and probably yours, too. And all I can say about your comment is... WTF?!!
The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter - Winston Churchill :))))
This guy is so chill
1:07 did he say Mayflower?!? LMFAO
Should we celebrate Columbus Day?
NO, he just got lost. I got lost once in the woods no day for me just some mosquito bites.
Andy-Matter but you also didn’t discover a new world 🤷♂️
If he was lost why was he able to sail right back? He just sailed west to find new trade routes and ended up discovering a whole new continent that was unknown for the most part at the time. He wasn't lost he just didn't end up where he thought he was going to.
If Christopher Columbus Day came back, then Monday would be a holiday. You wouldn’t have to go to work.
Neither did he
1. He never set foot in America
2. Vikings beat him by about 300 years
3. In the time that he found for himself the new world most educated people knew that actual diameter of the Earth, Columbus just miscalculated and thought that he was in India
Gavin Beard yeah, Leif Erickson did
Yo
It's funny how those students think we should give the land back to natives. But when he said, pack our bags, they hesitated. LMAO
Will Witt is such a funny ass guy! Hahaha
I'm afraid for our future! Whatever happened to Common Sense? Can people not think for themselves anymore?
Dont worry, look at the view count of anti SJW videos. Children are being fed the truth
Man! Why couldn’t you come over just a little to the East to High Point University? I really wanted to meet you! Plus I would’ve known these answers.
They should make all those students sit in an empty class on Monday while the rest of us are off.
I am part of the problem. I literally thought of Step Brothers when I saw his shirt.... Truly my ignorance was bliss lol
If only we could really ship them back to Europe:
"Should we give the land back [to the Native Americans]?"
"Yes".
"Pack your bags"
I was taught this in history class every year of school, basically, but they taught me he arrived at the island I grew up on.
“Let’s go back to your....oh em gee” 😜
I will always celebrate Columbus Day. Always.
A lot of native American groups actually fought each other for land
the only way I get through these videos of people's stupid comments is Will's sense of humor... thanks for keepin it light man
It's videos like this that make me weep for the future.....
Short answer: No
Long Answer: HELL NO
What is wrong with our kids in this country? College sure did a fine job. 🇵🇷
