Best thing about workstation cards is that they probably weren't mined on

Low power draw makes them great for a secondary x16 slot render card. Most productivity programs want CUDA devices and if you run an AMD gaming primary card, you have the best of both worlds.

Nice finding. Those servers are more "squish-able" than the card. some more ram and an SSD and you can take some more good years out of those for cheap.

Literately just picked up a Dell precision with a 6700k and the mv4000 for $120 for a friends nephew. Been looking for this exact video and I open my UA-cam to this! Thank you !!

Also found a thread that allowed a bios flash with up to 50% performance increase on the m4000 but temps are TOASTY so flashed it down to the 1200mhz profile

I'm in the UK and where I live there is a refuse dump about 1 mile away. If you go to dump rubbish there is an area where ppl have dumped PC's and other related stuff. You can't have any of it they won't let you, it bugs me becuase I've seen some what looks like fairly modern PC's and I'm sure the guys who work there help themselves and possibly even sell the stuff on eBay, perks of the job eh! Related to this I was there one day and a lady was dumping a bycycle, I asked her if I could have it, she was giving to me when one of the guy who works there was saying I couldn't have it, but the lady said it is my bike and I'm giving it to this man, I can put it back in my car and give it him outside, he was annoyed but she was right and he couldn't do anything about it.

same here, they have an area in the dumps, but you can't go through it unless you know the manager and he allows you, but most time they say no. I have seen sweat computers in the dump area but can't grab em per the regulations, sucks...

Great video, as always to the point and informative. I like the Quadros not for gaming but for CAD and some industrial applications as these cards are designed for the long haul where I need a GPU that can do 24x7, like the quality in component and design of the Z440.

In the a2000's defense, it's a low profile card. Compare that to a 1650 LP for $170+, then the cost isn't looking so bad.

@@radradR0bot First off, most Firepro are much closer to their consumer version in power, secondly you can easily change the bios to a commercial version on many models, thirdly, they are often cheaper than equivalent Quadros.

Is the Quadro M4000 better than the K2200? Think it sounds better! Good point! I am trying to recoup my time (as $$) by yrying to sell the PCs laptops i find! Found out two of the Dell Precision towers have the Nvidia Quadro K2200 (think it has 4GB VRAM) GPUs!

Hello. I have a LEADEX III GOLD 850W power supply. I bought a Quadro M6000 graphics card. The video card consumes up to 250W. There is only one 8Pin connector for additional power supply on the video card. Can I power the video card with one 8Pin PCIe connector from the power supply? One plug on the power supply is designed for such a current? Or do I need a "PCIe Dual 6-Pin to 8-Pin Adapter Cable ( two 6-pin auxiliary PCIe connectors into a single 8-pin auxiliary
PCIe connector))"? And I have to power from two PCIe connectors on the PSU through this adapter?

depends on the air flow in the case. You can have the cleanest gpu and new thermal paste but if the card has no airflow it won't matter. if it does have good air flow then try cleaning it.

yeah definitely not a card I would probably ever specifically seek out in one of my gaming flips, but I have gotten quite a collection of Firepro cards myself from all the eBay optiplex buys I've done. Never had one of these in it though.
In other news, I am buying a new construction house with a double car garage I am going to convert to be able to do computer repair and flips out of. I was thinking a 3 monitor setup with a long desk in the center surrounded by cabinets against the side wall. I will also put an air compressor to be able to do quick blow outs and air up our car tires in the corner. I could get some bar stools to put under each of the areas so it wouldn't take more space and have the areas able to just be set up to plug and play the PCs I am working on. You've had your garage setup for a while. What are your thoughts on some things you find important and my pseudo setup?
I was kind of surprised to see this card going for $80+ on eBay and was curious why on earth anyone would buy these compared to a gaming card.
For anyone wondering... The answer I found is that these cards are more expensive because they favor rendering accuracy more than performance. They target the CAD, modelling and rendering markets where artifacts in the render (such as “jaggies” on lines) would be unacceptable in the output.
They render double-sided polygons whereas the GeForce cards only render single-sided since games don’t care and do double precision math versus single precision to ensure the renders are as accurate as possible. Some of this is done in hardware and some of this is driver level.
    Different cards, different use cases.
    The more you know.

yea these types of cards are mostly good as a budget starter option, since most times they can be had for cheap and or free..
As far as the garage, let me give you some of my tips and mistakes I made.
      1) make sure you have some cabinets to store you hardware and covers to protect your set up. I found that in the garage it can be a dusty dirty environment and depending on what else you use your garage for it can mess up the hardware.
      2) , So in the south, we have hot summers, I tend to run a portable a/c to help cool the garage, but then run into the issue of humidity and condensation. I have actually ruined components not being aware of this, rusted parts and shorts due to moisture. also in winter, I add heat and had the same issue. I found the best solution is good storage and covers for the parts, I put valued hardware in the cabinets and my daily use stuff I put a cover or sheet over it to protect it.
      3) cameras are good and good security. I have actually had someone break into my garage and stole 2 computers, Since then, I put up cameras in the garage and outside.
sounds like your gonna have a nice setup, I wish my garage was bigger!!
