40 Alligator Snapping Turtles Reintroduced to Kansas

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks recently released 40 alligator snapping turtles in southeast Kansas. The reintroductions are part of a larger effort to sustain the alligator snapping turtle population in the U.S.

I have watched the video.But whether dams will hinder these reintroduction ast to get gene exchange with ast population in other states like OK,and make these reintroduction population became a new species(like suwannee ast) in Kansas?
