I have my chest and shoulder keloids frozen with liquid nitrogen and then injected with Kenalog (in the same procedure). This treatment has helped many of my keloids flatten out significantly. Because they're in places that aren't usually seen, I don't care about what color they end up being.

So are both keloids and acne scars are considered scar tissue? Is scar tissue the body's response to irritation and infection?
Great questions! Keloids and acne scars are both indeed considered scar tissue; a keloid is a more extreme version. When there's inflammation anywhere in the body, scarring generally is the end result. The degree/extent of the scarring is the variable.

How long can a patient undergo steroid injections?

@@marthawood3367 Back to normal! Fortunately it was a mild case, but enough to keep me out of the office for a week. Thanks for checking! ❤
Somewhat indefinitely (depending on the strength of the steroid injected). I generally inject monthly until the scar is flat.
@@DrMudgil My doc recommends only once every eight weeks, to lower my risk of osteoporosis. I like to keep my treatments spaced to once every twelve weeks, because the scars keep changing for many months.
