Yeah my reviews tend to focus on certain things that stand out to me that typically don't get focused on in other videos. Is that a good thing or bad thing? Viewers can decide. But I think it's important.
@@underthemayo It's making your reviews worthwhile in comparison to others, who regurgitate the same shallow praise. I'm already looking forward to your video about SH2 Demake

A good thing about the issues you raised is that a lot of them are possible to fix with relative ease compare to something like overhauling the combat system.
Most of your complaints probably wouldn't bother me much... except for the map. Maps are so important in survival horror. I think that is something that could easily be fixed, and maybe the dev will, but who knows. I will definitely pick this one up anyway.
@@underthemayo it is a baffling exclusion. I rarely ever return to the main menu in a game after loading my save, though. Maybe that is just a me thing
When you brought up the part with first-person mode, it reminded me a little bit of some criticism of RE7 which switched the series in first person. I honestly think that it wasn't a problem, since RE7 plays just fine. You only get some problems when it tries to be more action-oriented when it's evidently clunky. As for the puzzle, you know, for the longest time I really think there's a difference between how RE puzzles work and how Silent Hill ones work. RE is a little bit more practical, the more you look too deep into something the more it becomes difficult. While Silent Hill requires a bit more thoughtful process and investigation to progress, which fits Silent Hill's larger and broader maps. Hell even Cry of Fear got this right, perhaps a little too much. Overall Hollowbody seems to be a great game hampered by little flaws that shouldn't be a problem, but because they affect you greatly, they do and that's annoying sometimes especially when you want to enjoy a good game.

to be honest, that first puzzle's not great either. It has one completely unnecessary clue in there that can completely throw you off because you think you have to account for it because it's there and there's nothing logically even upon further consideration that would make you go "oohh I dont need *this* clue, I'll use the other three clues instead."
Having extra info to throw you off can be really good for puzzle difficulty. In silent hill 2 the infamous wax puzzle wasn't very hard for me because I only had those 3 items in the first place. Plus if the extra info is immersive or provides lore I'd call it quality.
Im hoping they can fix the map in an update. That's really the only thing keeping me from playing it as much as I'd like to be rn. I tried drawing my own but its immersion breaking having to keep turning a light on to refrence or add to it.

Personally I'm enjoying the game so far - my biggest gripe (and sadly it is a genuine problem in my mind) is the enemy design. Visually speaking, I mean - I feel like a good survival horror game needs enemies that go beyond simple "spooky humanoid shape" or "slimy tentacle monster" designs. I don't necessarily need SH2/3 levels of sophistication, where every enemy directly feeds into the themes of either the story or the characters, but still - lots of lost potential.
I was so hyped for this game and when I reached the end of it I felt dissapointed. "It cannot be all of it" I thought, "it has to be more", but there was no more.

Do you mind if I make a constructive criticism on something you said? "𝘐 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 10 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴." Honestly, the game can't be balanced to every single person on the planet. You are someone who is at the very least competent on survival horror games. Veterans of this genre can do this on many games and they don't become bad for it. The original RE2 is a game in which it's easy to have a ton of ammo and healing by the end of the game. Silent Hill 2, one of the most beloved games of the genre, is also on the easy side. This part of my critique is now not on what you said but more in general. I think many survivor horror fans forget what attracts people to this genre varies from one to another. Maybe one likes to scrape for their life, other may like the weird characters and story, the other atmosphere (that's where I sit most of the time). I do agree that playing the same survival horror on easy and on hard often gives a different experience but thankfully that's why we have difficulty settings Anyway, aside from that I still like your content a lot. Keep it up.
This is why hard mode needs to be available from the start and not unlockable. You can't judge modern survival horror games by the balance of 25 year old games because the players didn't understand how to play them back then. Now we have decades of experience and we know what to do. They need to have the balance option for the veteran fanbase. Thanks for the comment.

@@idontwanttoputmyname403 hate you watched "4 Hours of MODERN Resident Evil Clones" from Avalange Reviews? I think it's worth watching.
Do you mind if I make a constructive criticism on something you said?

Honestly, the game can't be balanced to every single person on the planet.
I do agree that playing the same survival horror on easy and on hard often gives a different experience but thankfully that's why we have difficulty settings
Anyway, aside from that I still like your content a lot.
Why are there mosquitoes in your room?
My front door opens to the patio, it rains a lot, etc.
