☕ this is one of my all-time favorite wrap-ups on booktube just because of the way you spoke of each and every book you read in july, it was really really compelling. i was so sucked in on how you put into words the appeal of the friends to lovers trope for "people we meet on vacation" and your criticisms of "what big teeth", and your thoughts on the thematic elements of "malibu rising" was just so well-done that it convinced me to pick up that book since i am a huge fan of books that explore familial relationships, both strained and heartfelt. thank you for this video and these new books on my tbr, and i hope august is a good reading month for you, as well as just a nice and fun month for you in general as summer draws to a close
I really liked "The Guest List" by Lucy Foley. I listened to it completely on audiobook. It's a character-driven murder mystery. I think it was intentional that many of the characters were unlikeable and flawed. I really enjoyed her treatment of the characters and the mystery.
The Guset List is one of the top book in my shelf this month, but I kinda understand why people do not like the characters! i even rolled my eyes while reading it, like countless time
@Elena Montoya i like the book but the book is so dark, sometimes it was quite disturbing, not to mention the characters in the book are so annoying but i get it because they're all humans, some of us do have the same traits as them, but we don't want to admit it
The Silent Patient is an all time favorite of mine, highly highly recommend! The Maidens by this same author is also really good! In both books the ending throws you for a loop, which is something I really love!
The E is silent. Its just SHARP. No E or AY on the end!! If you read the Cornwell Sharpe books, or saw those movies (1980s and 1990s starring Sean Bean), that spelling is pronounced as just SHARP.

I would like to give it another try but not for a looong time... I am currently listening to "The House in the Cerulean Sea" audiobook and I'm ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT! 😍❤️ The narrator did an AMAZING JOB and the voice impressions are JUST PERFECT!! 😍 My favorite books of the month of July were: 🌟A Proper scoundrel by Esther Hatch 😍💕 🌟The Captain's Confidant by Ashtyn Newbold 😍💞 These are clean historical romance novels and they were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I ADORED THEM😍💞

My favorite July read was actually Malibu Rising. It was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid book and I'm so excited to read more! I really enjoyed both parts, the pace of the 2nd part made it impossible to put down. I loved all of the back stories and perspectives, I was rooting for Nina and so proud of her in the end. She had more of a support system then she knew and I was so happy that everyone in her life lifted her up in the end. 🤍☕

Okay, so I wanted to read Malibu Rising for many reasons, but the way you just described it...That sounds amazing and I am much more intrigued now. I am currently on Reid's Maybe in another Life and I won't let myself buy Malibu Rising until I finish this one (rule I have: until you have read all the books you own of a certain author, you are not permitted to buy another).

I had the exact same feelings as you about The Guest List. I hated all the characters, and your description of leaving the husband and going for a spa weekend while signing the divorce papers was spot on, I almost had a spit take of my pumpkin mocha. 😂 I did stick it out but figured out the killer so I was very meh about the whole thing.

Christina Lauren do an amazing job at creating young love and that giddiness that comes from falling in love. Most of their books I enjoy, but my favorite book by them is Love and Other Words because of the young love part of it. I think they should write more YA because they are amazing at it!
I totally agree with what you said about The Guest List. I ended up finishing it and you definitely would not have liked the ending. I hated it so much.
I finished the Invisible Life of Addie Larue last week. I think that is my favorite book of the year. Don't see how I could love a book more than that one. It got me in all the feels and I was crying the last four or five chapters. It's so rare for a book to make me cry. ☕

I felt the same way about What Big Teeth. It was a weird one for sure! My fav book for July (and one of my favorites for the year so far) was The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson. It was SO GOOD.
It was SO SO GOOD (tbitw) I hope that MJ keeps writing books with these characters, but I also really liked the difference in setting from the og trilogy

Christina Lauren do an amazing job at creating young love and that giddiness that comes from falling in love. Most of their books I enjoy, but my favorite book by them is Love and Other Words because of the young love part of it. I think they should write more YA because they are amazing at it!

I totally agree with what you said about The Guest List. I ended up finishing it and you definitely would not have liked the ending. I hated it so much.
I finished the Invisible Life of Addie Larue last week. I think that is my favorite book of the year. Don't see how I could love a book more than that one. It got me in all the feels and I was crying the last four or five chapters. It's so rare for a book to make me cry. ☕

OMG! I loved you ranting about The Wives that book shouldn't have existed! I'm getting the feeling we are twins when it comes to books. All the books you gave 5 stars, I did as well hahaha An important note about Sunshine: it was fantastic, one of the best middle grade I read (I had heart surgery as a child totally related to Sunny).
