- Wonder why it's so hard to get into Berghain, Sisyphos, Kater Blau or Tresor? Find out why the door policy in Berlin's best clubs is so strict and what you can do against it.
Berlin's nightlife has it's own unwritten rules which are not so easy to figure out as a visitor.

I never thought I'd hear a German say they don't want to go to a sausage fest
You are right. It is a extreme unusual expression.
Especially this guy
I find this actually quite sad. I used to go clubbing in Berlin in the early to mid ‘90s and I don’t remember there ever being strict door policy’s. In fact that’s why we loved to go there from Munich to get away from the ‘you have to have the right look’ culture. Berlin clubs seemed to embrace diversity and welcome everyone looking to have fun, dance and lose themselves in the music. Has it really changed? How disappointing. I am happy and lucky to have experienced it when I did. The idea of having to ‘look right’ to club makes me sick. Like going to the office.

Hey is that okay I get your social media name I am doing research about this topic and want to get a better perspective thanks !
Maybe because back in the days, there were not as many people interested in techno clubbing as today, so nowadays clubs have to have strict policy to handle huge international attention
I can understand it. They want the "heads". Not the tourists. I've heard there's a certain amount of crime in clubs in Europe & a small percentage of that crept into the UK in particular the well known clubs in London. You don't want that. Also in London they've turned away small groups of males, purely because they don't want "sausage fest" as this dude spoke of here. It's a shame because those lads just wanted to go clubbing, but there you go. In the UK it's probably Gatecrasher that went to extremes with the door policy as they were turned on by the crasher kid (cyber kid) look but then got a bit funny as most of them were too blatant with the drugs & it went mainstream media.
If xou have been to berghain once, you would understand why this policy is so important! I dont want any munich P1 people there, just to prove the club is diverse. It would ruin the atmosphere. So, I totally understand and support the strict policy.
In 2009, I had the privilege of entering Berghain Club and enjoyed myself so much I was crying happy tears throughout the night. The Techno music was amazing, I was able to dance next to the huge speakers in which the vibration was powerful enough to bounce me away each time I danced into it. Don't forget when wanting to walk onto a crowded dance floors you don't have to push your way through, just use your hand & stroke the person downwards on their upper arm & they will gracefully make way for you to enter.
In my opinion, this is just marketing. Create exclusivity out of nowhere, just because they can, bouncer´s ego... I´d like to believe what you say but man, I´ve seen bouncers deny the entrance to people who completely knew the line up, really wanted to enjoy the music. Automatically, they accepted a bunch of tourists (I am a tourist myself) who didnt even know what was there playing. Maybe the theory is based on what you explain (I believed the same) but thats not reality come on
Yes, keep the supply low so you can demand higher prices and make up a feeling of exclusivity.
Well nah, the thing with Berghain is that it's pretty bizarre in there, no cameras allowed and it serves to a "special" clientel and if they just let in everybody firstly it would be waaaaay overcrowded and secondly it would ruin the atmosphere in there.
Plot twist.. the bouncers let in the tourists one night just to fuck with the regulars
No, most of people could not handle what happen inside Berghain. That’s why certain people may enter and others not
Its funny bc of this text we all know u have never been there
Before coming from Chile to Berlin I saw some of your videos are entertaining, however, what I have learned by going to clubs from Berghain to Sisyphos, is your attitude and good vibes, if you arrive drunk you scream loudly and disrespect is sure that They will not let you in, if you are respectful and secure of yourself, even if you are the ugliest in the world, surely you enter, I saw it in Berghain that many people spent with the industrial outfit and very beautiful that were left out and others like me who were going alone if they could enter, in sisyphos the same groups of beautiful but drunk women fail to enter and I alone and with clothes that I use for the gym I can enter the club without problems, based on my experience I can tell them to be safe respectful and not afraid to say their origin, because at the door I even speak Spanish and everything has gone super
Buenaaa yo espero a que todo pase, podamos volver a carretiar para entrar a Berghain, tu comentario me ayuda ene para prepararme, esa disco hasta ahora me daba terror por los rumores de la entrada jajajaj
How was it? Was it intense?
Jaja mi experiencia fue completamente lo contrario, me escucharon hablar español y pensaron que era para quilombo y no me dejaron entrar, tal vez porque los hispanohablantes hablamos un poco fuerte. En fin, buena gente la de Berlín (not really)
Weeeeena!! Also chilena here 🤣🇨🇱
Y como crees que debería vestirme para kit kat? (Mujer)
A Video about the Top Techno Clubs and their differences (what Type of techno is playing and what Type of People would feel well) would be great
“poor but sexy” shit I love that phrase
Another great video dude, really informative and gives first-time people a good overview of the clubbing culture in Berlin! I know from experience it can be a hard pill to swallow when you get rejected for the first time in Berlin, but once you get in once and feel the vibe you'll understand why door picking policy is so important!
Yea awesome... they re all great
The fellow you have used to illustrate an 'aggressive' type looks like he would fit in very well at a number of Berlin nightclubs, particularly Berghain, at least in my experience.
I really need to get into Berghain , I grew up on dark techno music and thunder dome . I need to pull the 36 hour weekend inside!
Music: Echoes - Yung Logos
THANK YOU!!!
When I was younger I never cared for the club scene because I don’t listen to hip pop much pop music which clubs play but I was lucky to find an industrial club that only used to play industrial music , techno and alternative music . I wish they were more clubs like this here in the USA sadly you can only find them in big cities is rare to find them in smaller cities.
Fr, I'm 24 now. Growing up, the clubs I went to, they never hit with me cuz it was just pop/hip-hop etc. which is stuff you hear on the streets all the time so it becomes normal and nothing special. Although clubs like berghain is pretty much nowhere to be found here in the US. No wonder I never went out to nightclubs cuz the good ones are in Europe!!
berlin sounds like my type of city
Exactly what I was thinking 😌
Why? Sounds like too many expectations
Been twice from Australia.Great place.Better than shitty Amsterdam
I Don't know, its difficult to judge. I believe that its moslty random + a little extra look on dress code. I've been clubbing for years already, been doing very dark underground raves in France (possession, Osho, bnk, organik, btf...) Where all styles are welcomed, as long as you like hard techno (i'm a great fan of deep industrial techno and trance music). So i've Seen things through the years and surely Berlin clubs aren't an exception. Actually liking the dark underground rave looks, i bought myself dark Berlin cloths, not because it "fits" the vibe but because i actually liked it. And i still got rejected in front of berghain. So being yourself isn't sometimes enough to get into a german club and berghain.
PS : try the french techno scene guys, we are catching up on Berlin (enormous raves, no dress codes, no discrimination, moslty created by LGBT+ and better music most of the Time). Its all about one thing : THE MUSIC !
Hello, I’d love to know more about it! I’m from France as well and have yet to go clubbing and experience such things as I don’t really hang out with people that do this kind of thing. Do you have any advices on how to enter those spaces and how to make acquaintances ? I don’t go out anymore and I feel like a country bumpkin lol
That cover picture of the video with the baby is hilarious 😆
Keep up the good video's 👍going back to berlin in 5 weeks cant wait 🕺 best place in the world to party
Wow this was super educational for me. If i ever make it to Berlin, I'll keep this in mind
Hello Radical Living! I was introduced to you via your collaboration with NALF! Americans in Berlin- I believe. It was hysterical!! I am an Older Gay Black Man living in Chicago! I have been to Berlin, Stuttgart and Cologne! I luv Berlin AND Cologne! Maybe you can get Nalf to visit and loosen him up a bit (lol) Thanks for your insights and making me laugh!! Greetings from Chi town!!!
As a latino guy, I had to dress in all black and go with three other girls from my school program in order to get into one of the Berlin clubs. Also, I avoided talking as much as possible while in line, because you don't want to come off as that tourist that's gonna judge the club vibe.
You dont wanna be judged as someone you judges others
That happened also at greece clubs but a law passed that makes it illegal you could call the police if you were denied entry.
Always the best xx
I have no idea why I'm watching videos about getting into Berghain when I have no intention of ever going not that I would get in anyway I just find them entertaining
A German with a sense of humour making funny videos - the world has changed so much.
You're a bit slow, my friend.
Nobody aggressive or judgemental.
*proceeds to aggressively and judgementally choose who comes in*
That's life.
The bouncers are the types who would never fit into door policy😏
I really love Berlin. Waiting to this pandemic 😷 to be over and fly to the new airport. Greetings from my channel
I just smile nicely
Ha! I don't need to visit any of Berlin's Clubs!
I am quite happy watching the Live Sets on Y.T. ;) hehehe
Really doesn’t seem so hard core and edgy the way everyone talks about it
Certainly not for you dude
There was a time in east Germany.. ..were we just drove through the night.. got on the gear.. and went to Strasse E, 10/40 Global Village... no dresscode.. no egos.. just brutal Techno...heheeh
Can i ask what is the name of your background music in this video its nice
Echoes - Yung Logos
AVGN cameo at 1:02!!
Saw that too lol
Any advice if you know that you wont get into a disco and you dont want to go to the matrix?
That doesn't happen only in Berlin. It happened to me and some friends in Köln 😅
Es war uns so peinlich. Damals, als Ausländer, wüsste ich nicht 🤭
Never understood why people try to get into a place where they aren’t wanted.
Because these clubs are not about you. They are about the atmosphere, the music and the act of dancing. Who you are is insignificant. When you enter one of these clubs, you loose your individuality to some extend and become part of something bigger, a little piece of the atmosphere. Past the bouncer, everyone is equal, both in enjoyment and their responsibilty to make the night memorable for everyone else. A club and it's crowd are inseperable. A "If you don't pamper me you won't get my money" type of Karen attitude simply doesn't fit this club scene.
@@GermanTopGameTV on one hand you right, but on other you wrote this like an asshole. Some type of people what are too carful or something and they are not welcome almost everywhere 😂
@@GermanTopGameTV so much requirements to fit in a crowd/subculture when the main point of techno is to be free and not conform to a certain theme. Its fake af. Wonder why the DJs or guest djs that are playing these shows in Berghain not conform to its theme. For example, Absorbed playing in Tresor, berlin wearing a vans tee. Sure man Djs can wear whatever they want, so does the crowd.
@@jonathanchia9167this club prefers locals yet half of their DJ's are American or British.
@@GermanTopGameTV that.
What's the music playing in the background of your video?
What do you mean: "Nobody wants to be at a Sausage Fest"?! OF COURSE I DO. Thank you and good day to you. 🌞🌠
I was born in Berlin. When I was still living in Berlin it was easy to get into the club. I've was never denied. I was everywhere: Felix, Berghain, Tresor, Soda, Alte Kantine, 40 Seconds, Astra, Maxxim, Kater Blau (former Kater Holzig), Ritterbutzke, Sissyphous, Piratis and even in the Matrix and worse the Kit Kat and many many small (very good) clubs. I've never dressed up special. Shirt, Jeans, sports-shoes. Everyone was funny, no stress, no voilence. Every single time it was a good time. So sad that my hometown is not the open, free city anymore. Berlin was famous for that. Go everywhere, everyhow, and do what you want.
What is the name of the song in the background?
If everyone does what they want, it creates violence because different people want different things. It's better that everyone knows what to expect ahead of time, so people can choose their experiences, deciding if they would feel comfortable with a specific club's behavior policy and if they want to dress in their style.
LET'S FIND OUT
I was wondering, do you have any clothing store recommendations in Berlin that cater to specific styles (Industrial look for Berghain nights etc.)?
Dark store and Coexist have pretty good things, also the second hand store Humana ;)
Lots of us love sausage fests thank you
In Hungary I saw several clubs fined or temporarily closed due to their "door policy" because in most cases when someone complained against them the court found these policies discriminating.
Damn, if even Hungary is getting 'woke' - it's the end of the world.
Because they ARE discriminating, its a cover for racism
"Nobody wants to be at a sausage fest" well speak for yourself
Great video with great advice.
You are hilarious!
Okay but what’s the track ID in the background?
Tresor is the best, first one Berghain
There should just be a list of all places and what their style is so people know already where they fit in, most people wanna go to Berghain and probably wouldn't fit in at all and would just wait 3 hours to leave in 10 minutes lol people shouldn't think so much about the hype of the place but rather whether or not it's somewhere they fit in cause that's kind of the whole allure of clubs is that you can go to a place that attracts likeminded people.
That said i'm an old school punk so i'm very contrarian so i wouldn't go to ANY clubs tbh cause i think of them all as herd gatherings, i went to a punk bar once wearing a suit to throw off the regulars that was fun but apart from that i just chill with friends nowadays, also helps i'm too old for clubbing nowadays as i'm in my late 30s lol
I thought that in Germany partying in your 40s is a normal thing, since society is quite old in general. Hmmm.... 🤔
You sound fun..
I never had problems entering a club in berlin...in any case in sommer who goes to clubs? Too punk for staying outside...so36 the worst diarrea of my life...well so36 is not a cool club 🙈🙈😹 what a remember banda bassotti ❤
What is the name of the Track ?
Hey want to party together? I’m in Berlin (6th time here) and alone. Love your videos would be cool to party with you. What do you say?
How do poc's get treated?
Was ist die musik in der Hintergrund?
I am glad I am old enough that I quit this shit 40 years ago.
When I was once about to enter the Club wilde Renate at my birthday, the bouncer let only me in but not my friends who were from italy and south america. I really had the impression the bouncer was racist because I was the only german looking person in the group.
Met Gala is good enough for me. Ta!
Hee, where can you swim 🏊♂️ in Berlin itself? It seems we will be allowed to fly to Berlin starting next month.
What is the background music?
Echoes - Yung Logos
The female rule also applies to Berghain? I mean it’s a gay club right?
Paco Toledo nope
No,you just have to be ultra-hip to get in.
LGBT but not only lgbt men
I do agree with the policy.
Its not racist. Its selective.
Some people confuse their appearance with their image.
Is that a door? Wondering what to wear? Look at the door. Lol.
What about me? I'm old !!!! Bet I couldn't get in anywhere!
it is not about how old you are, it is about how you are old
Welcome to Ü30 parties.
When you feel devasted by the door policy go to Watergate, there's none ^^
another video about Börgi =D XD
this club is not called "ze Börghaim". It is the "Berghain". "Be" like in "best", "rg" like in "organisation", "hain" like the tomato-ketchup without two letters.
Entrance currently 22.-, Beer 4.-, good coffee, good Techno, high Ponytails, low hygiene, huge people, tiny people, a general politeness, and some rules.
If your wardrobe is of 80% black stuff, you like dancing to techno, you can handle yourself, you have been to demanding places: might be most nice for you.
Who else thought this videa was gonna be about the access to public buildings and residential buildings or areas
I think I would fit in. I’m poor but sexy. I thought I invented that. 😄🙌 good to know there is a place for me in this world. If only I could speak German. 😩
Aahaha "family day" in B'hain, pfff 🤣
Ich frag mich, ob ich mit nem goth mantel mit etwas metall dran rein komme, oder ob ich schon da zu overdressed bin.
Dgeigerd Versuchs einfach, mehr als nicht zu klappen kann es ja nicht
I imagined very short video: "Why Berlin's Door Policy is so Strict?" "Because you are in Geeermanyyyyy".
Hmm which club do you need a sport jacket? Eine Anzugsjake.
This guy talks like half of Hans and Franz.
Both me and my sausage are quite happy at a sausage fest!
So don’t want judgement people but then the door people will judge you 🤔
But Germany has such wonderful tasting sausages...
haha you make such a funny video's about Berlin, hardcore industrial techno and hardcore sexual activity in a club, wonder when there will be such a place in Amsterdam ;-) Maybe there already is but its underground invisible for the crowd who can't face this darkness lol
Me and a mate snuck into kater blau. They wouldn't let us in. So we jumped over a wall, broke open a door and then walked in the back door. Bam.
I hope you get banned from whole Berlin
Imagine being proud of getting around being refused into a club by vandalising and trespassing your way inside. What a fuckin loser, I'm embarrassed for you
Forget these other guys.
You, sir, have that kind of American initiative we need.
I hope you had a great time!
@@MomasBoyOnline Isn't this how Berlin was in the cold-war era though?
I mean, be honest now.
Have the 90s left you people?
This is the closest you've come to serious. Hope I'm misinterpreting.
I would pay to see that hens party
Im guessing they'll profile me for my age then as well.
Hi
I agree, only nerts do that. No troubles for true Clubbers, is in their blood. Every individual knows what to expect from one another without a written consent. Ask them, they can be from any parts of the world, but will give you the same answer. No cheating..
I fucking love you
We don't want wrong people in ...very simple
is an industrial goth who likes techno and industrial wrong there? or do I fit in?
the rule to get into berghain is simple. Its not the dress code, its simply the vibe and attitude.
Germans up to their old tricks of rejecting people for being different lol.
Guys finishing each other off on the dance floor but this is not a sausage fest?? Say wot??
Shhhhtyleee
Especially if they are acting like jerks, too drunk, taking pictures, or trying to provoke a fight.
Sausagefest is exactly what u want at a gayclub
German sausage fests are the wurst.
Strict door policy saves us ravers from morons
You mean like the moron in Berghain who was going around needle spiking ? Their door policy is definitely not fool proof, it's more random. One of the reasons Berghain only accepts 2/10 is because there are thousands trying to get in and the club only has a certain capacity.
I'm afraid you're displaying the famous German sense of humour with the comment about the hen party and the penises. The guy was clearly joking, the sarcasm was screamingly obvious
How is it obvious?
No
You say the bouncers want to have a balance of males and females so that they all got a good time together by having proportionate number of potential partners for the party. That contradicts the previous statement of yours about lot of gay people partying together on the dance floor. What would gay people of any of the genders need to have a corresponding number of people of the opposite gender present for? It doesn't make a lot of sense. I am aware some of the gay people could be identified just by appearance, if they want to make a statement of their orientation by certain way of dressing and stylizing themselves, but it's not obvious with everyone.
God Bless Germany and their approach to clubbing. Amazing all the way. The world can and should learn from Germany.
Should learn what? To dress and act fake to get into clubs that aren't worth the efort?
I wear black all the time. So now I know why people act weird around me 🤣 they think I’m judging all Steve jobs like 🤔
Got a creepy guy kicked out of berghain like 3 years ago
Imagine going in those garbage places
Can’t hold stating something you see everywhere in Germany. Funny how I saw plenty of brown people queuing up and dressed similar to those white people that got in but hardly any brown people inside. There’s no way a bouncer can judge whether a brown person can handle techno music and nudity - im sure everyone knows what they’re getting into. People say just because there’s black people and East Asian people inside that therefore Berghain cannot be racist or disproportionate negative racial bias as soon as they see a certain race - this is like fashion companies having ONLY black and East Asian models from minorities as a norm and think that’s enough to not be called racist is they disproportionally exclude every other race or ethnicity. It seems like they want to keep minorities minimal as possible under guises of potentially disruptive. Let’s face it if they excluded blacks and Chinese it would get mass bad press but who cares about the brown people as the media wouldnt care - racism is usually focussed on black/white so nothing to stop Berghain blatantly keeping brown people out. This is very wrong and whilst I get the need to keep a certain atmosphere, it surely did feel in any Berlin space that there is a grey area to discriminate on race as use a number of excuses to cover it. If you’re dressed correctly and are any white, fair Middle Eastern, East Asian and an American black you’re fine. If you’re a non-American black, Indian (even of a western nationality), Afghan, gypsy you’re screwed because even if you’re dressed like your counterparts, they’ve judged you by your race and decided to exclude you on the basis of a threat. If you look at all the gay bars Google reviews you can see how brown people are being made to feel othered in terms of bar staff being rude, unwelcoming, ignoring presence, constant whispers about them hoping they go away. I see the look of disgust as they even check out gay saunas. This is sad for a city I thought would know better to offset discrimination because it it’s not just about accepting Jews and white homosexuals; what about the gypsies that you see despised everywhere and have suffered a lot. What about everyone else. I know people are going to hate on me for saying the obvious just because they had so much fun, but please at least try to open your eyes about the suffering you’re causing other people by excluding them from many aspects of society - I’ve seen brown people not only discriminated at clubs, but also at school, interviews, jobs, as customers, as business etc it’s always a higher bar on them for the same standard. Anyone content that all has been done for racism and thinks these grey area rules aren’t abused need a reality check.
Noone is entitled to get into a night club. It's not a basic human right.
The selection is made based on experience.
If you are not welcomed in a place, why in the world you wanna be there?!
So the bouncer's job is to keep judgemental people out by being as judgemental as one can be and kicking them out based on a 1 second impression? What a load of bullshit
