As a born berliner it‘s so sad to see how the city and it’s club culture have changed over the last 5-25 years. Most clubs „die“ due to gentrification and the one‘s without the struggle like berghain seem much more commercialized. To me at least. Might be spectacular for someone who’s grown up at a quiet place but for me it really isn’t satisfying anymore. To all those non-berliner berghain enthusiasts in the comments: no, sven doesn’t really work at the door anymore, don’t know if he’s ever gonna come back. The door policy before covid was pretty much: if you look like the cliché, you’ll get in and sometimes you just probably won’t. Very much underrepresented lesbian and female queer individuals and annoying ppl who think they need to take a load of drugs because they’re in and then end up with a bleeding nose or you have to guide half conscious ones to the staff to take care of them. Not quite what I loved about Berlin. I’ve kinda lost my “Heimat”.
Yo, there is plenty of peopüle who share your sentiment but are building new things and fighting commercialization. Complaining is not gonna change anything, maybe you'll feel better and not as bothered by your culture disappearing if you can actively contribute to it staying or transforming into something you advocate for? Reach out! To me, that spirit of berlin is still much alive, incredible creative energy just harder to connect, but they are there and in numbers! Don't complain, reclaim!
It's funny, I was living in Berlin 2014 and it was already the way how some locals were complaining. This was 7 years prior to this comment. I havn't been there since but I'm pretty sure it didn't change much. + the wall fell 32 years ago, you can't expect the party to go on for ever, obviously it'll end up like disneyland and you'll become old in between.
The door policy is so stupid. I've been in a couple of times and the sound blew me away. I love that big, dark techno sound they are so famous for. But the amount of times I got turned away in the end made go elsewhere. Kinda sad that for those who are more interested in listening to best heavy techno, and really couldn't be bothered with playing dress ups, often miss out on the Berghain experience.
It's supposed to be a whole experience: not only music, but also costumes, dancing, and acting out a certain persona to play a role. Many elements are supposed to fit into one big production, like making a movie.
I love how people say berghain is all about being free and being yourself while most are dressing up in rediculous clothes to fit in and be let in. I understand that some poeple like to dress like that (i mean all black, latex, chains and stuff like that) everyday but I highly doubt even a small number of the crowd there is being themselves. What if id like to get in and enjoy a techno night in my jeans and yellow shirt? As a straight white woman? Without weird glances at me? Also there's this tendency of feeling superior if you've got in. A club 'famous for letting people being themselves' is making its crowd a mass of egoists. The popular 'walk of shame' name should be transferred to the walk home from berghain after you fry your brain in drugs and blow a stranger. So spiritual. So free-minded. Good job humans.
Hit the nail on the head. It should be everyone, regardless of they dress. You should be able to wear a suit, shorts and a T shirt and jeans or black latex with chains and shit, whatever, it's about the music. It would be a much more interesting vibe if people could be themselves
actually its about being yourself most of these ppl wear these clothes and i mean they WEAR them this club is for special clientel and literally everybody wants to get in. there has to be selection
They are not spiritual and free minded. Most of them are gays( moreover fetish kind ) who want to fit into something only once. I dont give a fuck about techno ,but you people complaining and nowbody see that its not about techno ,but german techno , berlin scene and this is stricte about gays. They want s..k each other and dont " be judged":), so if u look too normal or hetero for them you are not welcome. Ive never been in this club , i dont even listen techno ,but i was bouncer in many places and gays clubs are always in this way
He is talking a bit trash... Jeans are possible... And you can be happy. Of course you shouldn't jump around and smile like a idiot... But Techno is happyness and an open minded culture... So he is talking trash... try your luck.
That's actually pretty accurate. I think some of the tips you don't have to follow 100% (for example not smiling. if you are a tattooed pierced crazy fetish lady, a smile will not ruin you coming in) but if you want to be on the safe side with coming in these tips are very good.
I'm glad I was a teenager in the 90s when raving / clubbing was fun, the ecstasy was fantastic and there wasn't such bullshit about getting into places :( Fuck all that carry-on!
Used to live in Berlin for several years and have NEVER HEARD OF THIS CLUB😂 having said that, I'm a boring scholar , so... Great content as always❤ All the best from Dubai
Not sure about some of these claims. I got in yesterday and: *• "If you're wearing shorts, you have 100% chance of not getting in." "It needs to be unconventional, something that you wouldn't see on the streets."* --> I was wearing jeans shorts (black and a black sleeveless t-shirt). Nothing fancy, but nothing unconventional either - you definitely see A LOT of people wearing the same in the streets in Berlin. *• "When you face the bouncer, don't look happy. Don't smile at him."* --> Sure, perhaps don't look too peppy. However, while the bouncer was doing his vibe-check on me, he half-scolded me for looking so serious and told me that I should at least smile at him (I did and he seemed satisfied afterwards). But then again, this clip was made 4 years ago. Maybe things changed since then?
"Rough place, rough music; there is no space for happiness.....!" Makes me think the real lucky people are those who don't make it in to Berghein. Vile place!
I never went to Berlin, have gone to maybe 3 nightclubs in my life, last time was maybe 20 years ago. Have absolutely zero interest in going to any nightclub ever again. Yet the algorhythm apparently decided it was important for me to see this. At least I learned some stuff :0)
WHAT A CLUB!!!!! arrived at 5am on Wednesday morning, there was no queue but the two people who were in front of us didn't get in and we were ushered right in. straight up to panorama bar, via a 5 minute techno shapes throw in berghain, to see derrick carter who played until 9am. honey Dijon was on from 1p thru 5pm , however, we left around 12.30pm. have to say it's by far one of the best club's I've been to and will defo go back.
I'm not gay, I don't wear any of the acceptable dress code clothing, I'm not really into techno, never urinated in ones mouth, I hate long queues, I go to bed early and I have small children. Do you think this is a good place for brunch on our next family vacation?
This is hilarious. I stood in line for about 20 minutes with a group of friends last year. We decided to go to the Matrix which was incredible. After watching this, we definitely made the right decision because we were a bunch of jean-wearing laughing people. We looked way too « normal. » 😂 I didn’t even know that it was a gay club 😅 I’m definitely going to try again one day since I’m equipped with new knowledge 😊

@regina: apart from the hype and stuff, it is really a club one which gives something you usually do not experience. similar to the technology and science for a modern concert hall the Berghain has also one of the best sound systems on the planet (F1/FunctionOne, a company found by a guy who specialized already since the 1970ties on evolving a max. sound experience. he also had Pink Floyd and others as customer. It is not just the hardware but planning the general acoustic by reconstruction and so on). There are only a few top end sound system companies in the world. 99% of the clubs on the planet have no high end ...
Went in the morning, got the stamp came back later that evening, went in. The music, vibe, people were excellent, saw a lot of crazy shit, place was definitely an experience, could not do it every week. But was like nothing I had experienced before.
I've gotten in many times in jeans or shorts or just sweat pants (of course these come off inside). Also got in as a group of 4. What's not on this list that is an advantage: be gay ;) Finally, on previous time I was in line and the bouncer asked the two in front of me if they read online how to get into the club because they looked miserable and he told them it was ok to smile :D Bottom line, they're looking for people who fit the atmosphere they're trying to create in the club. They're pretty good at what they do at the door.
I've got into Berghain wearing shorts and checkered shirt. I was three times in Berlin and all the time I was allowed. To me, the easiest way to get in is being dressed like a partyer. This is a nightclub so you come there for a party. Not for bar drinks. Not for striptease. And not for weekend rest. You come there for party! So you should look like a person that is always allowed to any nightclub! Like a person that partyes 24/7.
Love Berghain.. I've been there 3 times and never been rejected. I make a point to go to Berlin when I go to Europe just for the clubbing experience. Sydney is SHIT compared with Berlin or any other major city for that matter. What I love about Berghain is the music followed by the brutalist architecture, the building is stunning... that soundsystem 🤤 best I've heard in any club. Its another world where you can be truly FREE
I never been to Berlin and with all these stories about how impossible it is to get into Berlin clubs i feel like i never want to go there , that stuff is ridiculous, even if it has some good music, its not worth being denied entry everywhere. Why bother going to Berlin if they deny you entry everywhere. its a massive shame if this is what its like when it should be about the music.
ForTheLoveOfMusicAndPeople it’s just this specific club. The other ones are chill. And the whole city’s scene is unparalleled in both its freedom and depravity. Go to Berlin. You’ll love it.
berlin clubs in general are literally the most chill thing u can imagine. i went to a club this month with the least dressy clothes i was wearing all day and no one even blinked an eye. berghain aint even berlin culture anymore lmao none of my friends from berlin have ever been there, its literally a tourist attraction
A few years ago I was in Berlin with friends who are not techno fans so I left them at the hotel and went out on my own, it was a bit creepy walking around in the district where Berghain is, but adventure spirit, what can u do. I waited in line for like two hours, my usual black clothes, no fake grumpy faces, I was being myself and did not get in. I went straight to Tresor which rocked, but the weird thing for me were the people that got into the club. I am from Bulgaria and we have this "chalga" culture with girls looking like.. Well cheap prostitutes (I don't care, just saying it so u can imagine) and there were many groups of such girls in the line, wearing high heels and short pink dresses, literally taking selfies in front of the main entrance - all of them got in. So yeah, I guess it can be random.
So the girls dressed like "chalga" got in BH?? Loool that's hilarious, maybe they were dressed so differently from everybody else (u know, the black uniform, i also dress in black/gray year round) that the bouncers went "oh somebody wearing a bit of color, let these shanks in" hahaha, were u a bit angry at this or did u found it funny/ironic??
I got into to berghain twice alone myself wearing casual jeans and t shirt. I feel like it’s completely random but wearing latex and leather and kinky clothing helps 😝
hahah, the thing about large groups is so true. ME and 4 other friends were going out one night to Tresor in Berlin. We were all a bit tipsy/high already when we got to the bouncers, and me being the only one who spoke german, said 5 tickets please. The bouncer looked at another one, murmed something and then replied back to me: no. I asked him why? He said that we were too many guys. Since I was a bit intoxicated, I was able to retaliate to his remark: "how many girls do you need? - I took my phone ut of my pocket and started saying names. after the third one, the bouncer chuckled and let us in. What a fun night. we had just bought some md from a guy in a bush before in what was the weirdest collection of drug dealers. All of them, a large flock of maybe 10-15 guys around Tresor, just looking at you, seeing if they can push some coke on you, or if youre a police officer. Buying 7 pills we had a very good night. Can still remember dancing in the floor, closing my eyes and thinking i had them open. I could see through them, and I could talk to my friends. And when I did talk, I kinda "woke up". What a crazzy fun night.
Just two things that I can't confirm. I have been to Berghain a couple of times and I always smiled at the bouncer :). I also got in with 3 other friends so we were 4. I guess it depends on the overall inpression.
I've never visited a place where I've had to queue even just 5 minutes to get in with some grumpy dude at the door possibly denying me entry and I've been to some amazing clubs. One of the best places in Berlin used to be the Tresor, sorry to say now long closed. People still talk about it and claim it was far better than Berghain.

been there twice... The city is gorgeous, and I love Techno, haven't been there yet... maybe there are just too many options now.

If you need that advise simply don't go to berghain
or read it, understand so must try to check it

Thank you.
Corona is now the strictest bouncer in town. Nobody can get in. 😁
People are still queueing, despite Corona. You gotta have patience, if you wanna get into Berghain.
Now its a Covid-Quick-test-centre
This is so ridiculous! Get a life and party in the woods.

Fuck yeah, music for the people. ✌️
@@alexmois774 it's not fancy, pure hedonism and debauchery.
@haloblender why didn't I think of that?!
The point is to make you aware you aren't getting in if you don't put in the effort to make the atmosphere yourself. It's a good trick if you ask me.
I d say it s a marketing gimmick, it always was...
It's supposed to be a whole experience: not only music, but also costumes, dancing, and acting out a certain persona to play a role. Many elements are supposed to fit into one big production, like making a movie.
I always thought I am the one with the strongest German accent 😂
Ach mein German ist ein eiziger grauenhafter accent, aber das english blabla nervt mich wirklich. Marhaban , anta jamilà

"heute leider nicht"
"And under no circumstances engage in LAUTER" hehe, i love this version of laughter
"Berghain is rough place with rough music there is no place for happiness" hahahah that was a good one.
realy humor; or not. At the door smiling friendly: Bonjour Mrs, bonne Weekend.....
It would be a much more interesting vibe if people could be themselves
actually its about being yourself
most of these ppl wear these clothes and i mean they WEAR them
this club is for special clientel and literally everybody wants to get in. there has to be selection
@@sofiana580 right?
My God.
Ive never been in this club , i dont even listen techno ,but i was bouncer in many places and gays clubs are always in this way
From what I’ve heard wearing something comfortable or just your own style and feeling comfortable will get you the best chance
Right. I got in with my casual style. ;-)
Hmm... Then i would totally get in. Though i probably wouldn't do it voluntarily.
Probably.
Well curiosity killed the cat so damn it.

And you can be happy. Of course you shouldn't jump around and smile like a idiot... But Techno is happyness and an open minded culture...
So he is talking trash... try your luck.
He never been in this club it clear af, just doing it for views.
Had dark blue skinny jeans, wasn't a problem.
That's actually pretty accurate. I think some of the tips you don't have to follow 100% (for example not smiling. if you are a tattooed pierced crazy fetish lady, a smile will not ruin you coming in) but if you want to be on the safe side with coming in these tips are very good.
I don't care about getting into any of these clubs, I just love your videos and your face and your accent haha
I appreciate that! Greetings from Berlin and welcome aboard! 😊
I got in the other day wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Mind you my t-shirt read 'I will pee in your mouth' so maybe that's not a very good example.
I'm glad I was a teenager in the 90s when raving / clubbing was fun, the ecstasy was fantastic and there wasn't such bullshit about getting into places :( Fuck all that carry-on!

Not sure about some of these claims. I got in yesterday and:
*• "If you're wearing shorts, you have 100% chance of not getting in." "It needs to be unconventional, something that you wouldn't see on the streets."* --> I was wearing jeans shorts (black and a black sleeveless t-shirt).
Vile place!
That was some of the rare German humor you just got presented with.
Brüno giving advice. Amazing
once he said don’t look happy I said I got a chance because I look like I wanna jump off the roof all the time 😂

why would anybody go to a club where everybody is unhappy?

2 Years later: Ill just get a vaccine to get into Berghain^^
For non Berliner: There is a vaccination center in Berghain now.

So you enter the legendary club of ‘no judgements’ after getting judged at the door. Cool.
Sounds very pretentious to me.
I was born in Berlin, I am 25 and I have never been there. Honestly I‘m not even interested in it. Not my style, not my environment. This is the first time I am actually researching about it 😂
But very interesting though and I am happy that people enjoy it and have such a place to go to ☺️
I moved to Berlin and all the Ur-Berliner say it's tourist crap. ;)

Uncon WENTIONAL
I've got into Berghain wearing shorts and checkered shirt. I was three times in Berlin and all the time I was allowed. To me, the easiest way to get in is being dressed like a partyer. This is a nightclub so you come there for a party. Not for bar drinks. Not for striptease. And not for weekend rest. You come there for party! So you should look like a person that is always allowed to any nightclub! Like a person that partyes 24/7.
Shorts and a checkered shirt are not your normal club attire.
U definitely weren’t dressed like a partner lol
I don't know what you guys are talking about, the right type of shorts and right type of checkered shirt is definitely party attire
Next time you will be rejected
I've known people who've broken all those rules and gotten in. Rules are made to get broken.
Those are some pretty good suggestions at 3:57
I never been to Berlin and with all these stories about how impossible it is to get into Berlin clubs i feel like i never want to go there , that stuff is ridiculous, even if it has some good music, its not worth being denied entry everywhere.

Cheap is the right word 😂👌🏻
So the girls dressed like "chalga" got in BH?? Loool that's hilarious, maybe they were dressed so differently from everybody else (u know, the black uniform, i also dress in black/gray year round) that the bouncers went "oh somebody wearing a bit of color, let these shanks in" hahaha, were u a bit angry at this or did u found it funny/ironic??

Най голямото ми разочарование ще бъде да не ме пуснат. Добре че го затвориха да не ме е яд ако отида
I got into to berghain twice alone myself wearing casual jeans and t shirt. I feel like it’s completely random but wearing latex and leather and kinky clothing helps 😝
Sounds like a average night in the barracks
hahah, the thing about large groups is so true.
@1:57 did he say "it's the absolute wurst time to go there"?
