I've been there once maybe 10 years ago with two friends. We were in our early 20s and not fanitic clubbers or techno lovers. But we heard about this famous club so we wanted tot check it out. When we were in the line there were two good looking girls in front of us. We asked if we could join them because we thought that would increase our chance to get in. They didn't want to join us but joined another group of guys that looked way cooler than us. They were right in front of us and when we got to the bouncer we saw that they got rejected. Our nerves must have been clearly visible but when me and my friends got to the bouncer, he pointed to the door and said 'come in'!! When we entered the club I looked behind me and saw one of the girls looking at us with a very sad face and disbelief in her eyes. Best night ever!

I started looking into Berghain again online and it's quite funny. It's got this reputation as being super strict, yet from what I've seen it's about a 50% success rate. For a club, crazy, but really a coin flip isn't too bad, especially with the huge amount of people trying to get in. Watching this after learning more is also crazy. What I've heard is the 'trick' to get in is to look the part, but also look like that is you - not trying too hard. It's supposedly techno, so techno styles are good, but it also used to be a gay club and supposedly the bouncers try to keep that vibe by being more likely to let in gay people (probably why the mesh tops work) and also black because it's easier to suit black well than brighter colours. They also want everyone to feel safe and comfortable around each other, so being very friendly with the bouncer is good and being shy means it'll be much harder to seem friendly, and hence again harder to get in. The bouncers also remember people they've let in before, so if you can do it once you're far far more likely to get in again.

I lived in Berlin for a year and a half, just before I was leaving back to my country I tried to get in with a friend. We heard the line was shorter on Sunday mornings so we put set our alarms. We had breakfast and went to Berghain. The bouncer looked at us and asked if we spoke German and if we lived there. He said, 'sorry girls'. Later that day, a German friend got in and told me 'I took my wristband off and my friend too, do you want it?' So we put their wristbands and went again, we didn't have to do the line and just paid 5 dollars. Inside I felt so out of place, I realized there was a reason why I wasn't allow in. It was just not my scene. Really dark inside, it felt like a madhouse. The music sounded amazing though, one of the best sound systems I have heard for sure, and I'm a musician. It was such a cool experience, I'd love to go again but it will never be my go to place for weekends.
Im a u.s.a raver and i didnt wear all black but i wore something very different from the rest of everyone else. First try i got in. Went alone. Had an incredible time haha. Its all about authenticity and the bouncers can tell if you belong or not
Amusing story: The first time I got in I was 19 years old and it kind of happened by accident. It was my first night during my first ever visit to Berlin. I met up with a friend who had lived there for a few years already and was a regular at Berghain. We initially decided to go to Tresor (a popular somewhat toursity club) as he said there would be no point in trying Berghain. Funnily enough we actually weren't allowed in there because there were "too many guys" according to the bouncer. An odd problem for a club in Berlin. We decided to get a couple of beers and I convinced my mate to literally just take me to see the building. We stood in the line, chatting, and before we knew it were at the front of the line. Of course, my friend gets nodded in by the assistant bounder and I am separated from him. This dude isn't sure of me so looks to Sven himself - who, on the day was wearing a full red spandex suit. He emerges from the shadow of the door, leaning over on his high stool. Looks me up and down, and nods me in. In retrospect, I think he wanted to give innocent me some exposure to the hedonism inside. Literally the first thing I saw when reaching the top of the industrial staircase at the back of the main dancefloor was two guys butt naked on top of a podium, having pretty aggressive sex. Once the novelty of these things wears off though, it became an extremely enjoyable, open, and safe environment for me. I have been back since then but the place seems a bit less open to these things now. Hardly any nudity inside, whereas the first time I went in 2014 - it was quite common.
@@leedlbagginshield8492 No you dont go to berghain to creep around and to watch people who have sex (there are a looooot of different fetish clubs where theres more sex and not such a stressful line). You go there to be yourself and if someone would like to fuck on the dancefloor why not? Its not like all the people around are watching a sex show they just let them be, dance and do their own thing. People in Berghain dont care at all about what youre doing. In other clubs like Kitkat it would be more common to watch or to join lol. Tho i must agree that in Berghain is less nudity on the Dancefloor than some years ago, but there is still fetish wear. And there are places where you can fuck if youd like to, which is actually common in a lot of techno clubs of Berlin. A stripclub is totally different from all those clubs. It is just a very sex positive environment.

the fact that zac and jay are usually so open with their vids but won’t say anything about what they’ve seen... now i’m even more interested to know what goes on in there because from the outside it looks so shady.
tbh: I was afraid, they would secretly film. Because it really is a safe space for many different kinds of people and if you get in, you got to respect: what happens in Berghain, stays in Berghain.
Ok seriously guys this comment keeps popping up in this comment section the exact same wording but with different profiles 😐 Just scroll and you’ll see. Someone’s paying someone.
I remember going in with three friends. The reason: they went there every weekend and looked relaxed and I couldn't care less (I'm not into the music and I don't liked how much people allowed a bouncer to impact their self esteem). Sven, the bouncer, said: "you three, black, red, gold". We went in quietly. I overheard Sven yelling at the guys behind us: "that's the second time you're trying it tonight". The bouncers are like Pitbulls, they smell fear, they don't like posers or attraction seeking tourists. Basically, they keep the place "serious". Most people dress up the way they think it's appropriate. You can spot those immediately. They feel uncomfortable and tensed. I saw some straight guys using lipstick or dressing a bit more feminine but it hardly ever works. You need to "live" your style. If you are not authentic, it's not going to work
Emili K yeah man it was awesome. Hypnotizing techno, just like what was playing during the animation for hours on end. Met lots of people from around the world and danced until 5 am, even though it seemed to just be getting started around 3. I’d recommend going. And post apocalyptic is a good way to describe the inside, poured concrete and lots of graffiti.
I went to Berlin solo in the summer. I didn’t even attempt Berghain hearing how hard it was, but even some of the other clubs are solid to get into. One of the most truly mental experiences of my life was in a club there called KitKat, phones handed in at the door, once you’re inside, anything goes. Incredible night if you know you know lmao
Omfg i got into that club too! Ended up having sex in a parking lot outside at 6 am,completely blacked out, and dont know how i got on the train back to the hostel 😂
I actually respect you guys not filming. A lot of people are hating, but no one has filmed there for a reason. What that reason is, I have no clue, but you guys do and you respected it. The journey was great 👍🏼
I got into the Berghain about 7/8 years ago when in my techno-prime period (also the name of my band now) and I don't remember much but one thing that will never leave me is the sight of about 15 people in a small room attempting to do synchronised swimming style dancing in formation, really slowly, almost balletic [but with banging techno obvs], all wearing nothing except gimp masks, black leather-studded sleeves and grey leather socks. I'm pretty sure there was faeces in that room. Great times. Take me back!!
You know your in Berlin when they put a sticker on your phone's camera ! I been there for 2 weeks and it was literarly the best 2 weeks of my life! The city/ nightlife is the most unique thing you will experience. One tip: always dress casual/black, never dress out, look as unique as you can but don't try too hard. Berlin is like a rollercoaster: you get on that train and it will take you places you never could have dreamed off! Can't wait to go again!!!
one has also to keep in mind that the Berghain made the F1 (FunctionOne) sound system popular (among experts). There are just a few companies/experts who specialized on the best high end sound systems in the world. Some of such geeks worked already since the 1970ties to improve the hardware and expertice. So did Tony Andrews who found FunctionOne (and had in his former company already created top end sound systems for customers like Pink Floyd ...). Similar to a modern concert hall there are many different aspects, from the construction, the sound system, the positioning, material etc. to give the best acoustic. People who visit ordinary clubs will have never such an experience ...
@@IChangeMyName MD for the up and coke to keep you going most likely and with them not allowing cameras an stuff people will just be on it infront of each other unlike where people go to a bathroom to avoid bouncers for it
Actually very impressive how the club is psychologically messing with their guests before they visit on the night. Don't see myself ever going there, but the way they select their guests is very intelligent.
They start learning it at a very young age. When our high school german exchange student come to visit us in America they can speak perfectly beside a few translation errors.
I startet lerning English at age 11 in school.. It's our "second" language here. I mean my grammar isn't perfect but I can speak English pretty good I guess 😂
No, Germans don‘t speak English good at all. Even though we‘re learning it early, most don‘t really try to learn it seriously nor try to improve. You‘ll notice that only a few speak really good English and especially the older folks are struggling to understand even a few words lol
I went twice. The first time i was with my gay best friend, second time with my boyfriend. Dress like yourself, you don’t have to wear black. The only thing thats important is that you are an open person. People are naked inside, they have sex, people do drugs. Its a techno club. Its really important that you like this scene and that you visit berghain to party and have a great night (or nights) instead of just trying to get in!
It's used to be a gay fetish club and those people are still welcome. Sven the Doorkeaper said they want a club for regulars and not for tourists. But if you are an open minded person who seems "ready" for this club you're welcome. I guess that's the philosophy.
I know they don’t let ppl in on purpose, even celebs... because advertisement. The more mystery, the more it draws people to it no matter who you are. And allowing outrageous things inside to happen, the more it attract people who wanna know what exactly is going on.
You made it back guys!! Love you both!!!! I am a black woman that has loved the techno scene for nearly two decades. Dream destination for this aging raver....

nah, they just didnt get in, when you re filmin the whole video about getting somewhere, and knowing the nature of these guys, they would have definitely filmed something. plus in such outfits they would never be able to get inside.
@@rudebwoy012 I must disagree, if you know anything about Berghain you would recognize that they very much want the people in there to feel free and unjudged. Filming or documenting would defeat it's purpose, I feel these guys have much respect for such things. They may be entertaining, but I'm sure they're respectful and honest too
@Aiden Ashworth It's not restricted to people, it's limited to attitude and protecting the freedom to express that attitude. I probably won't convert your way of thinking, and that's fine. You seem to have little interest in the club and it's mutually beneficial.
Lol i still remember i was 15 and went to Berlin with a friend of mine (we're from a village like 1 hour away from Berlin) We were looking for a vegan restaurant and maps suggested a short cut. Then we suddenly see people coming out of THIS building wearing the weirdest clothes, or really nothing. A woman came out and starting getting rid of her chain bra and putting on normal clothes again. We thought we had encountered some swinger, BDSM club. Nowi know it was just the Berghain.
Just finished the video and was waiting on you describing a room so I knew if you realllllly got in, and yes the red room is next to the silver toilets & has all these funky seats. They did actually for everyone doubting!!
notice how they didnt show the footage straight from leaving the club and only quite a bit down the path... they deffo just walked up a bit then walked back
thank you for not telling what you have seen and experienced inside the club. Everyone who is interested should try and see for themselves. It is much more important to remain the berlin nightlife and techno scene a safe place for people to express themselves freely. I´m happy that you obviously had an unforgettable experience. Lots of love from Berlin 🖤
the easiest way to get there is to know a dj who has played there and such a person can manage to put you on the list and then you are 100% sure you will enter
Berghain usually does not accept people just because they’re on a list... you need to fit to the evening and setting as well as everyone else in the line
Lol the first couple of times I went I didn’t know how legendary it is and I strolled right in without any issue. That’s prolly the secret to it: don’t act like it’s a big deal.
When they're queuing for the club and the german convo with the bouncer comes up you can hear him say "weg" at the end, which is German and means go away so I figure they probably didn't get in. Best regards, a berliner
I cant confirm that. The one thing you hear though is "what is your problem, hello, hello". If there is someone saying "weg" then its extremely quiet. It also needs to be said to most of the people after the rejection. But I dont know that I have never queued.
Went there a couple months ago on a sunday afternoon, wore all black and pretty much walked straight in...an incredible place! It def lived up to the hype, Its really hard to describe the vibe in there, but its like nothing I've ever experienced, and I've been going to raves for 12 years now. Basically lots of drugs, sex and banging techno! Great work guys
So I just found out I got into this place 5 years ago. This is what happened. My brother and I (we’re Mexican) we’re visiting Berlin while I was living in Prague. We met this very nice German guy at another bar who befriended us and had a few beers with us. We were pretty drunk around 1am and he said he wanted to take us somewhere. We went to a couple of places where the bouncer just nodded their head saying no. I asked the guy if we could just go to any other “normal” bar, and he said he wanted to try one more. I begrudgingly agreed and we went. It took longer to get there and when we finally arrived I saw a large line and said I wouldn’t wait, so I went up to the front of the line and kind of slurring my words asked if i could be pointed in the direction of a place where I could get a beer since I didn’t want to wait in this line. I was nodded inside with no words exchanged and and I said I had two friends with me and they were allowed in as well after I signaled for them to come to me. We got in and immediately we’re greeted by some girls who gave us pills. The night is very blurry but we got out around 11 am when the sun was out. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I was back in Berlin and speaking to friends about that night, and they asked the name of the place. I said I had no idea and texted my brother back home. He said he also didn’t know but he had a pin location screenshot from that night and he said that’s the place we were at. I remember the building and everything from the outside and I had a Nokia brick phone at the time. My brother said he couldn’t use his phone inside so it all makes sense. Sorry for the long story 😂. I guess if I had any advice for going into these types of places would be, as the great Charles Bukowski said, “Don’t try”. 🥊
The fact that you’re trying to get into the Berghain makes the video even more interesting for me cause I’m from Berlin and I’ve been in there😂 gonna be a lit video
My guess is - they went in on Friday and went to panorama bar. They went the night before and there was nothing happening but panorama bar is open on Fridays and berghain is open on Saturdays.

It was just not my scene. Really dark inside, it felt like a madhouse. The music sounded amazing though, one of the best sound systems I have heard for sure, and I'm a musician. It was such a cool experience, I'd love to go again but it will never be my go to place for weekends.

No one:
Zac: "ZWEI, BITTE!"
"Gourlami" 😅
Hardly any nudity inside, whereas the first time I went in 2014 - it was quite common.
wow
so basically like a strip club ?

Can't wait to go again!!!
that sounds like an awesome city. I lived in Berlin my whole life and find it to be so boring tho
Berlin Is nice but there are defo 2 sides

Why is it that you have to wear black?
They do this in London s underground clubs or rave parties too
Berghain sounds interesting, might go with my grandma

They'll let your grandma in but not you
one has also to keep in mind that the Berghain made the F1 (FunctionOne) sound system popular (among experts).

Why does all the germans speak such a perfect english
They start learning it at a very young age. When our high school german exchange student come to visit us in America they can speak perfectly beside a few translation errors.

No, Germans don‘t
speak English good at all.
Quick question: why do you need to specify your best friend is gay?
Woow going to the clubs to have sex and drugs...Just amazing....What a wonderful things to do there 😀😒
Gacha Cherry i've seen lots of people saying that men who seem gay get in easier, i think thats why they specified
@@gachacherie5411 because thats a big point to get in
It's used to be a gay fetish club and those people are still welcome.

Also FYI, I was wearing all black with a black metal band shirt and a denim jacket, not that I think it really mattered. 😄
