I have a cls estate 2016 I get a noise like drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr coming from the rear of the car for a few seconds when I start the car then it goes away .I've had several garages checking it out including Mercedes and no one knows what is the problem and why is the noise coming. "Practically that means it's the end of your engine" what a dumb statement. The rattle can be a multiple of different things. Most of which are non detrimental... ya, obviously don't ignore an odd noise but what an idiotic fear mongering comment to make.
Your oil filter housing is draining dry to sump overnite. Causing oil feed delay on cold start. Poss bad o rings on filter stem but more likely. Oil drains to sump down supply side.
Check inside your oil filter housing. Im not clued up on bmw set up but oil filter housing drain back to sump could be the real issue. I did read somewhere bmw has a anti run back valve inside housing. If broken you are having oil feed delay as pump has to refill oil filter first before Pumping oil to engine parts. Drystart

I bought car from woman she served it in Mercedes since she buy it until I have it she told me need take to service as it’s 160,000 last service was 150,000, anyway I don’t know from where to start from the DPF exhaust manifold pressure sensor behind the Air filter, or crankcase Vent breather valve , or PCV valve oil Separator breather,, just let us know know I have no oil leaking at all I searched all around engine are very clean no coolant leaks at all it stay in level, only have little oil around the diesel filter oil around the rubber hoses around it same spot but nothing around the intake manifold at all ?? Hi guys, I open last week the time chain house on my w203. The chain is still in good shape now. But the "cold" start dos problems to. The engine lit hit somtimes, its so shaky. When it gos on like this, the chain will break sooner or later. But whats first? The problem that i have? Shaky start? Is it the fuel pressure? The fuel pressure regulator? 30$?
I had timing chain replaced. Was £1050 for chain/tensioners/labour/oil/filter change at indie gargae. If the timing chain snaps it has the potential to damage the internal engine parts sending car to scrappies
Watched another video wrong oil filter put in because of buying cheap oil filter engine had to have rebuild Mercedes make percision oil filters alway buy from dealer

Cold start, chain rattle for a second or two, then sound smooth again. Tensioner and or chain, guides etc...need changing

Camshaft adjusters. Make sure you change your oil on time. Plus change your adjusters asap

I just started hearing this noise on my bmw e90 with the n46 engine. Is this the same problem? Because the noise is exactly what you described

tthe whole timing system needs rreplaced when you hear that noise dummy small wear onn the guides gears annd sttrettched chain!
