  • This is a project I started back in 2020. Started life as a 1994 Ranger truck. The first build converted to a lighter truck then over the winter I cut it apart and made it into a roadster.

      Very cool. This guy should be a engineer at Ford. If you can imagine it,you can build it my brother would always say. I believe that now. This guy is thinking on different level. There is a man that uses old metal refrigerator boxes for making some of the coolest looking replicas of cars from the past. They are miniature automobiles that you can ride in . They look like the real cars. I've seen the videos on u tube . Check it out. It's amazing what some people can do by just imagining it.

    I think about my dad a lot, and I often leave long comments on UA-cam videos contrasting his life to the video. If you love your dad, like this comment. Not because I want a bunch of likes, but because I want you all to stop and appreciate what you have if your dads are still around.
    I was going to comment that when my daddy got old he rode deckless riding lawnmowers around his property. Mostly from the house back to his garages. When he retired, he spent most of his time working on mowers for people. In his heyday, the man was a master mechanic, master paint and body guy, master carpenter, master welder, certified electrician, awesome plumber, logger, excavator operator and more. When I was born he was building Bad Creek Hydroelectric Station in SC. I often listen to that song the "Highwaymen" and think about dad. He loved Waylon, and when Waylon sings about being a dam builder it really hits home with me. Dad drove a little 92 Ranger until the day I put him in a nursing home. The old truck had 490k miles on it. The interior smelled like drive-in diner hotdogs and was gunked up and stained beyond belief. The little 5 speed 4 cylinder ran just fine though. This was one of many old Fords dad keep alive beyond their expiration date. Dad was a GM guy, but always owned Fords as dailies. In his youth, there's still stories around about his 67 442 W30, and his countless 409 64 Impalas and 55 Bel Airs all built by him to race. Dad loved Earnhardt. In many ways dad was Earnhardt, at least to me anyway. My point in all this is to appreciate what you have.

      Yes sir coming from a racing family that's all we did was build race cars. Papa was the innovator his two sons were the drivers. And everything was passed down to us now. I'm 55 and would get back in a race car again in a heartbeat. We ran ovals dirt and pavement. I built most all my cars as well as my brother, my father and uncle, and grandfather. But I think would rather do what this gentleman is doing. It just looks fun. And sometimes racing is not always fun. Bless you if all that type of building and knowledge is passed down.

      @@briansmith5469 I raced on a paved oval track as a kid, in an 80s volvo. Real car racing isn't as fun as little put around vehicles for some reason. Little PW80 dirtbikes and deckless lawnmowers are some of the most enjoyable things to ride around on.

      I have a 4x4 Isuzu Trooper that is unbelievable in the mountains. I use a 10 tooth sprocket on the Centrifugal Clutch and a 60 tooth sprocket on the shaft hooked to the front of the Transmission. I took the existing Clutch Plate from the Isuzu and ground the rivets on it to obtain the center part that is toothed to fit the transmission and then welded that true to a 1" thick Keyed bar. I have built my Isuzu and I also built a ford bronco II for a friend of mine.

    Back in the 70s, I needed a yard tractor to harvest firewood. No money, just need. Borrowed the motor off the snowblower, Trans and differential from a junk Toyota, narrowed up a bit, and with some scrap metal and a welder made my own tractor. More often than not need is the mother of invention.

    Nice rod, fun project to have. Late 90s I did this with a Geo Metro. Chopped the top and front clip off. Took 15" out down the middle to fit the front axle width. Shortened a chevett reared and used an old tractor front axle flipped upside down. I found a 87' Ski-Doo snowmobile Engine with the torque converter clutch. If I remember right it was about 85 hp. It was pretty shady but it lasted a few parades. I traded it off for a 30-06 pump(still have)and a John boat.

    Reminds me of something that my grandpa would have built for fun, back in the 1970s!😎
    He was always tinkering with ideas like that.
    He once built a homemade tractor... about the size of an old 8N or 9N Ford tractor.
    Model A frame;
    Front suspension was modified from an early '60s Chevy C10;
    The engine was a 235 from a 1962 Chevy, (not the same one that the suspension was from);
    Transmission was a 4spd, that also had a "low/high" range, that came from a latter 1950s Chevy grain truck;
    Entire rear end was the only tractor parts on the thing, as it was from an old B. F. Avery tractor;
    The radiator was from a 1954 Chevy pickup;
    Gas tank was from an early '70s Datsun car;
    The hood was from a 1967 Chevy Bel Air... and was greatly modified from the original "flat" shape, into a "U" shape... to cover the top and sides of the engine;
    Steering wheel and steering linkage were from a 1940s Chevy pickup;
    And the seat was from an old school bus.
    Damnedest thing I ever seen.😎😎😎😎
    He hadn't built it to do farm work.
    Instead, he had built it mostly just because he could.😁😁😁😁

    When I was a teenager in the 60s a friend of mine, Kenny, had an old monster size Indian motorcycle. The engine did not work. I had a Briggs & Strattan lawnmower engine that did. So, we removed the Indian engine and replaced it with the Briggs with a centrifical clutch. Yes it moved. If you were on level ground and gave it a big push you could go about 25mph+ . I called it Monument Propulsion, the farther you traveled the faster it would go. I didn't know what its top speed could possibly be because we never had a long enough level straightaway to find out.

    I absolutely love this. Gives me an idea for this junked out S-10 sitting in the backyard. I wonder what my mother-in-law would take for it?

    We need to see alot more of this !!! What's the top speed?

      The limiting factor may be that primitive steering thing. If the steering is not good then you'll eventually lose it at higher speed. Me personally, I'd spare no expense on my steering setup.

      I would assume on a flat it could probably flirt with 60 or so mph but with that steering and no suspension it would be pretty hairy. I base my guess on the top speed of the upgraded 16hp Citroen 2cv which was similar (55-60mph, 70mph for the 29hp variants...but the 2cvs were also more aerodynamic.) Then again, the gearing of this is not optimized for the power of the motor he is running so it may only be able to manage 45-50 still a thrill in any case.
      Another comparison (particularly since this used to be a Ford) would be a model T (22hp and 45mph)
      FWIW going 25mph in that roadster probably feels like the speed of sound 😊...all those other cars I mentioned have suspensions!
      Seems perfectly suited for intended purpose (slowly cruising around at a car meet)

    Subscribed. Awesome! Please keep posting on the build. Love to hear it run and drive. Top speed? How does it do on hills? A good video would be a detailed walk around followed by a drive down the road. Good stuff!

      @@cars-bikesfabrication2887looks like you could put a 4 cylinder in it you dam near building a hot rod how they did it back in the day use what you got around. The part of the bay area of California where I live the police don't harass people riding electric or motor bike's of all different type's. I thought about building something with 4 wheels that my wheel chair can roll on it to get to the grocery store. Might be thinking a build like yours. Plenty of wrecked car's truck's in the wrecking yard or find a wrecked one.
