I remember he owned 2 of the Chevy Luv pickups one of which he and a friend installed a v-8 from a 68 corvette and the other he converted it from regular fuel to LP gas, and I was fortunate enough to be a part of that build. There’s still a few people like that left out there and the idea’s may sound impossible, crazy or whatever, but the knowledge is priceless.
That was my favorite part, when I saw a line going into the firewall I was like, I swear to god if this dude ran the pull start into the dash I’ll buy him a beer

That thing is impressive the amount of work it took to do that is remarkable . It may be the only one of those in the world like that and I can't imagine anyone else at all has thought of doing something like that
Check out Robot Cantina on youtube. he built a honda insight using this engine. ended up doing crazy stuff after awhile like efi, superchargers, n02 things sick. hes about to put a 3cyl diesel mower engine into a saturn s2 wagon.

The flat plywood bed and of course the engine, reminds me of early day Polaris rangers or the John deer gators. This would be perfect for a farm to get around on and check your fence and stuff.

That's effing cool. I have a '95 Ranger (2.3l /5 speed) with 170k on it and LOVE it. While I plan on being the LAST owner of my truck and didn't plan to mod it....your tilt forward front end gave me some ideas!
I'm right now looking for a '93-'97 standard cab, short bed, 2.3l, 5 speed for a project vehicle. They're getting surprising hard to find lol but I will prevail!

This would be a great conversion for any old beater that has a blown engine. Especially, for a beginner behind the wheel. If more power is preferred, remove the governor and bolt on a turbo or supercharger kit.
@Bronco Belligerence like I said above, great for a beginner behind the wheel. A kid hanging out with Grandpa driving thru the Pasture to check the Cows and Bulls. It's not designed to run low 5's at the Drag Strip or qualify for the Daytona 500. It's simply an affordable conversion that could be installed in almost any vehicle and be fuel efficient. Could change up the gear ratio by experimenting with different sized sprockets for desired speeds. Me personally, I would build it as an off-road vehicle only. Basically a Farm Truck that can take a Beating while Trail Riding, Creek Crossing for Deer Recovery, Etc. Nothing Extreme. A Large high toothed sprocket for low end Grunt would be perfect. Fixing up an older vehicle would be alot cheaper than a fully enclosed UTV or SxS. I grew up Raising Hell in the Country, so there's plenty of places a kid could go on Go-Carts and Mini Bikes. But this would have changed the game up. It doesn't take much upgrading to unleash the potential of small engines. It really comes down to a Person's Imagination, Mechanical Experience, and Budget. Some Guy's in my area actually use this set-up in their Custom Built Rock Crawlers.
@@ThrelkeldOutdoors A gravel road doesn't count as a rock crawl, and a gravel road is about all you'll be doing with less than 10hp. I'm all for small engines, that's why I like SXS, and one of those would be far better than a Ranger with one cylinder. The problem with this build is how much that truck frame weighs compared to a purpose build SXS. And I never said this thing should be fast, a stock 2.3 is about the slowest thing you could get on the road, yet it's still a better option than this. And for teaching someone to drive, there should be some power involved. Obviously don't throw a new driver into a GT500. But a modest 100hp is enough to teach them all aspects of driving, including throttle control. They'll never learn throttle control with 6.5hp because that's not enough power to even get the wheels to chirp. They'll drive around with this thing pinned, then have no idea how to control the throttle when they get something with even modest power. Engines like these belong in go carts and entry level SXS and this video proves that.

There's all kinds of trucks and tractors with harbor freight engines in them just type them in to UA-cam. They are pretty impressive.

A motorcycle engine will probably be great in this. Something reliable and can be hooked up to a basic clutch maybe even air cooled like a Harley
Alot of guys did that on those early hondas..those little tiny rounded body ones original motor was pretty much like a motorcycle engine
