I love watching your family working together. I'm sure you guys have your moments, getting on each other's nerves. However you have raised some decent kids. Well done.
nice job with the culvert pieces. And, I pray that Cole is blessed in all his new adventures. He will enjoy the mission work. I have watched many college age kids enjoy their time serving the Lord in a foreign country.
That well will serve you for a long time, congrats to Cole for going to AK, and going on the church mission, that is something he will always remember and be proud of. Looking forward to the next video, thanks for sharing
You can still sunk this well deeper, set up pump to pump out water, go inside with bucket on rope, someone on top to take out mud, you dig it out, and well keep sunking, but you will have to keep it straight (keep from every side evenly) it's well known way to dig a well in my country.
I plan on doing the same thing this year with pvc culvert, mainly because I don't have the machinery to move that heavy concrete. Thank you for the video.
Hi all I just want to congratulate Cole and wish him the best of luck on his journey. May Gods Grace be with him and protect him as well. I was so excited to see this video and wished it was a long one but the well is in and things will be much better fot the ranch now, It is amazing how the land nature causes water out of a spring to provide. Well done, excuse the pun. Cant wait till the next one guys God bless Your Aussie friend and Kinder spirit from down under.
Hi, well done with the well , very interesting watching you dig and line up you casings , congratulations to cole for graduating, hope he enjoys Alaska and safe travels for when he travels abroard,
So true! My 3 oldest are 21, 19 and 17! My 21yr old moved out after high school for college. He liked the city so much he stayed! :'( It took me a long while to get used to not seeing his face every day. My 19yr old just signed on his 1st rental house...not too far about 5 miles so that is a tad bit better but still......where did the time go?
I just inherited the old family farm. It hasn't been serviced in years. The old house has a spring fed well BUT when they split the land they forgot to put water rights in the deed. SO when my cousin lost his 87 acres and the spring we were devastated. The well still gets fed BUT the new owners took the time to visit us and make sure we do not clean the spring out. Our land has Many springs so we are looking into something different. I enjoyed watching your process! Happy Homesteading!!
I have a tractor with a backhoe implement and I am going to be building a cabin which can be seen on my channel. I was wanting to know how to make a well and your video helped. Thanks for sharing.
Good to see im thinking of doing the same at my homestead currently i pump streight from the river but this often leads to the pump getting cloged with stuff washing down river especialy during the rainy season doing somthing luke this a few meters back from the river bank would alow the soil to filter the water before it gets to the pump
I think you guys are awesome and I haven't seen anything that you all can't do. Good luck to Cole on his mission. Hopefully he is going somewhere cool. Or the spokane mission near me.
You should be able to get enough water inside the pipe. On the off chance that it does not fill fast enough to keep up with your needs, A hammer drill could punch a few small holes into your gravel layer. A little gravel on inside bottom would be a good idea if you haven't already done that. After a few hours of running that gas pup at a slow speed, the water should clear up very nicely. Congrats, Good job.
tbirdracefan We did add some gravel to the bottom. We thought about drilling holes but are going to hold off and see how it does first. Thanks for watching
if you have surface water running, (not sure if year round), why did you not just channel it into a reservoir and pipe that to the house this is what my grandfather did and it lasted for 50+ years. the house was finally sold, but i'm guessing the water supply is still off of that surface water way back in the smokey mountains
GREAT JOB. I desperately want to be self sufficient for me and my service dog. Can that be done in ones backyard but in smaller form? I know water would be hit at 6 ft but I want it to go 8 foot.ty
I hope you put a minimum of 6 inches of that crushed rock down, lining the bottom before you put the concrete in the hole and hopefully on top of that 6+ inches of rock.
It has performed great We have had no problems. We always have water and plenty of pressure. Even if someone leaves the hose on and forgets it for 3 hours.
Gonna ask if ya'll are Mormon/LDS (though I know that's not the correct term to use any longer, per Church Leadership)? I only assume that as you've stated that Cole is going on a Mission. Feel free to delete this comment, if you feel it inappropriate to mention, or for the venue. Cheers all the same, keep up the fine work and fun times!
Your family is great! I admire your determination and tenacity. Congratulations Cole!
S. Jones Thank you

Dianne Farrell Thank you so much
Family. Working together is a Blessing to be shared. Thanks to you and yours.
Glad the well is finally coming together for ya Can only imagine the blessing it'll be to have your own running water ran up to the building.
MrRDFORD We can't wait. Hauling water is getting old. Thanks for watching

M and B Homestead Thank you:)
When he gets back, ask him how many souls he assisted the Holy Spirit in saving!
Annie Gaddis It’s not we who have any part in it... the work is all God’s.

Congrats Cole. I have an older brother that moved to Alaska. He is an Gasoline Engineer of some sorts.
You guys are amazing!! I am so impressed by the job you all did as a team. I’m as happy fot y’all as if I had a new well !!
Well done, thanks for showing me a city boy how to build a shallow well.

Good job....add a black line on the outside to help line up the steps when you are stacking the pipe.

Brian Karlsen Good luck with your project. Thanks for watching.

Nicely done, the gravel will be a excellent filter media. Flow should be more than sufficient to meet your needs.
Tom Hohenadel We think so too. Thanks for watching

Keep safe Family, nice video. Respect from the UK.
beansontoast10 Thanks for watching. Welcome to the journey
Great job, I was wondering why you put so much stone?
That is a really good well!
Congrats to Cole :)

Dang, Cole was in my area for awhile, I live in Alaska. how awesome!!
Kudos on a great job.
+Busted Wagon Ranch
Hmmm... Seems like I just watched Heath do this. LOL
Great video, congrats on the well.
Rod
Great job. Man if I can find a spring like that here I will be set.
Diversified Acres Homestead Thank you and wishing you luck finding water.
Heath from Red Poppy Ranch told me to check this channel out. Very cool video series on your water search. Nice job guys. :)
E Hole Welcome to the journey thanks for watching.
Good job, looks great.
That looks like a real good job man.
Great !
The place was quite hard to work !
GREAT JOB. I desperately want to be self sufficient for me and my service dog. Can that be done in ones backyard but in smaller form? I know water would be hit at 6 ft but I want it to go 8 foot.ty
Great job
Awesome job Guys’s
Well done!
I wonder if adding charcoal to the gravel would also help filter the water.
My OCD is triggered by the ladder not being perfectly in line. However great stuff, subbed.
I was going to but it was flowing in so fast through the bottom I decided to leave it without holes
looks great.
what happened after you put the gravel in? did the water become clear?
Aww man... Nice
I hope you put a minimum of 6 inches of that crushed rock down, lining the bottom before you put the concrete in the hole and hopefully on top of that 6+ inches of rock.
Is this next to red poppy ranch looks like god blessed both of you guys
It’s a nice ground water catch basin, but unlike a proper well, you can’t drink it untreated.
praestant8 This isn't a typical cistern style well. We are capturing spring water directly from the mountain. Thanks for watching
How much do those well casing /cylinders cost?
Good job, nice to not have to drill a well etc
Banjo Benson For sure it saved us about $12 grand.
Will it stay potable in concrete?
Great job. How deep is the water in the well now ? Thanks.
nice one
How does the water filter through the muddy bottom beings you did not put gravel down for a base ?
Ron Hart We did at it to the bottom I edited it out of the video.
You didn’t put holes in the lining so water will flow in better
Do y’all still use this well?
congrats
no, it dorsnt pump 200 a min. that is a no lift rate. our 500 a min moves about 400. but i love thr backhoe idea. i am gonna try it.
Very cool. My cabin property has a natural spring on it that I need to repair. Gave you a sub as well
This is awesome! How has the well held up since you finished it? Any problems or all good?
It has performed great
We have had no problems. We always have water and plenty of pressure. Even if someone leaves the hose on and forgets it for 3 hours.
Curious where this is in the world? I served my mission in MT, and one day hope to do exactly as you are doing in big sky country.
anthonyderoest We are in southern idaho. Thanks for watching
Good job. Can you tell me the inside diameter of the pipe you are using?
Its 48 inches
@@bustedwagonranch4546 Thank you for replying.
lightheaded at 6:20 . :-)
You’re contaminating your ground water.
Gonna ask if ya'll are Mormon/LDS (though I know that's not the correct term to use any longer, per Church Leadership)?

Steve Garr Hi we are LDS. Thanks for watching.
Mormon ? God Bless.
Good job
