Liiiiiisten, the way I RUN to these videos as soon as they upload… I am OBSESSED with this series and I don’t want it to end!🥲
Hopefully it ends though in a liveable not so abandoned anymore house tour
@@baanabualasal8538 for their sake, absolutely haha. For my sake, they’ll just have to do another reno 🥸
Me too
Same here ❤😅🥲
Same page. Wednesday has something to look forward to. This couple are real cute!
Every time I see Bin There, I add the second line "Dump That"
The best thing I have ever heard
They should adopt that as their slogan honestly
im like, wow, theres so many puns for bin companies! I would have gone with Big Ben and made them red like the telephone booths in London. haha
@@JennaPhipps Awe thanks.
"Bin there dump that" is actually a name of a dumpster company here in Austin.
This UA-camrs idea is genius. Create a large viewerbase from renovating this house and probably use the UA-cam money to fund building and creating her dream home. Building her platform in the process. Genius!
Yall are going to be JACKED after this home reno. Lifting those heavy branches up a rocky hill for hours is crazy. Keep killing it!!
You have a fireplace, cut up that wood let it dry out and use it for firewood. This way you don't have to go buy any you will already have some ready made wood for you.
I was thinking firewood too. Must be a reason why they didn’t consider it.
Pine is not a very good choice for fireplaces.
Precisely why i came here to the comments --- Oh noooo Mr Bill (70's SNL), don't get rid of ALL that wonderful FIREWOOD! 😞
Not even for outdoor fires -pine? I was thinking outdoor fires, fall/early winter and spring/early summer - lots of seasonable weather for outdoor fires ??? No?
Pine is a very bad idea for fireplaces. It contains lots of sticky resin that clogs chimneys and is a potential fire hazard.
@@ronidm7052thanks, i never knew. ❤
I think the bugs were termites, not bees! Better have a termite inspection before closing up the walls! Your “new” view is amazing! I love this series and can’t wait for new videos to drop!
Yeah. That’s what I was worrying about. I’ve seen some like that, but it turned out it was some sort of subterranean ant. They seem to swarm and then move along. Lol. Hopefully that’s what it was.
Wish we had gotten a closer look. We don't have termites where I live, but we do have ants that swarm out and fly to mate. And yes, they live around (or in, if they can) older houses. Wherever they can find cracks and holes they can get into.
Termites not a thing in Vancouver but carpenter ants are
Those are ants not terminetes, we have here in eu, balkan side. Them are quite annoying, we use some spray to kill them, and you can even use "bicarbonat"i have no idea how to translate that.. Baking soda i think.
Definitely looked liked termites. We just had our house treated after finding a swarm.
With large sized tree stumps you guys should turn them into an end table. I think it would look really good to use them in your house and it’s kind of a tribute to the trees that got cut down as well
Yeah, I would sell that wood to a carpenter or have a carpenter make furniture for the house. Think of kitchen counters! Or cut it into cutting boards and gift to all friends and family for the next 50 years. Or sell them. Everything would be better than just dumping them and paying for it!
The more you tear down, cut up and drag away, reveals what a true diamond in the ruff you've taken ownership of. Look forward to your weekly progress.
Can’t wait for all the thrifting and decorating video’s where you make the house completely ‘JENNA’
can't wait to see her awesome craft room when everything's done.
Oh wow yes! The idea of that makes me feel less sad about the idea of the house being finished. 😎👍🏻
That's going to be years from now though
the matching outfits is forever my favourite part
I knew she was a cyclist! From the first second I saw her. Passionate cyclists recognize each other!
When taking out live trees, yes you will get more sunlight to dry out immediately, however you have lost a major water uptake system in your yard. Make sure you replace with plants that will take up as much water as what your land has lost.
Those are termites you’re vacuuming up! Make sure you get specialized pest control in there to get them taken care of ASAP.
Before putting the walls back in, you should date and sign it, so when someone else reno's the house in the future, they'll get a cute surprise
and add a link to this series! 😂
There are a bunch of articles about Jenna and Nick on the internet. I'm glad they haven't signed on to do a home reno show. Keep it real Jenna and Nick. I know I will be here until they move their stuff in. I'm invested.
I would love an old home renovation show with these two!! 😀
My ears perked up when you mentioned storing new construction materials in the yard. Construction materials theft is a big business. Hope precautions are being put in place.
This is a romcom/DIY/RENOVATION series ❤ I’n here for all.
While you're at it, insulating and drywalling the garage when you do the rest of the house will help to keep the living areas warmer. 😊
I second insulating. The bedroom above our uninsulated garage has drastic temperature changes throughout the year because of this.
Of course they are going to insulate. Why wouldn't they insulate. They tore out the old insulation themselves! Of course they know they have to replace it all with new insulation!
I can tell you living above communal stairs insulation NEEDS to be done ✔️ 😢
@@A.L.75I did that and it was fantastic when we had an emergency car repair in a snow storm.
If you are redoing plumbing, plumb hot and cold water into the garage too. ;)
Those bugs look an awful lot like termites. And it's spring, when they come out of the ground to mate.
Pretty sure they're ants. Winged termites look like a pill capsule with wings, winged ants have a not quite hour glassy shape (pinch in the middle due to 'separate' abdomen). It's hard to tell for sure with YT compression.
How endearing are you two as a couple! Hard working, supportive, embracing each others’ quirks, we love to see it! Keep going kids 💫💪
Gosh, yes! I had a life partner who enjoyed taking care of our home, we worked well together and loved it. You both have a great thing going on, and these videos remind me of those times. I, too, had something similar. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I noticed there’s a lot of new viewers here for the reno-I want to remind you your crafty crochet audience is still here too :) I’m loving this series
I have alot to do today.
*Jenna Phipps video notification*
I can spare half an hour.
Dig a french drain around the garage to keep the water out, both to keep using as a storage for now, and to see if the slab is high enough to be reused
Second the French drain, made a huge difference for house that was built on a hill on rock like yours. Moved the water away from our house and drained safely without flooding our neighbor’s yard.
Might not be able to, being on bedrock.
@@AlexKall Another factor that "can you dig a french drain" will be good to investigate... is the concrete for the house right up to the add on garage or do we have enough room to drain the land...
I’m never getting over the matching overalls especially when you guys match entirely
The state of this poor house before you bought it is an excellent reminder that people should be aware that a time comes when their property is just too much for them, which looks like maybe 30 years ago for the previous owners. It's only because the house was originally so well built that it survived so much neglect.
Those were termites on the window I think? Looked like it from my chair 4000 miles away
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL OCEAN VIEW❗️THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME JUST WENT UP 🥰
The three most important things about real estate: the location, the location, the location.
Termites!!! I live in the Vancouver area and thought we didn't have them here but YES WE DO!!!
Jenna and Nick, you've got to get that checked out asap!
I'm always sad when the video ends and excited when I see a new one. That view is spectacular.
Jenna’s face when she asked where her bf found the tree guys and he said Craigslist 🤣😭
@Jenna Phipps Jist some friendly advice regarding planting new trees. Try to avoid planting any within 25 feet of your foundation to avoid future issues with it.
I’m living that mess with my neighbor.
That makes so much sense!! Our house is on bedrock so the trees unfortunately really destroyed a lot of things with their roots .🙁 We will have to do tons of research to find out the best trees/plants/shrubs to plant so nothing is damaged in the future.
@@JennaPhipps If the roots have destroyed things around your foundation then it makes sense to me that you would want the STUMPS AND ROOTS of the closest trees TO BE REMOVED TOO. Leaving it in the ground is not solving the original problem with that/those trees that have caused damage around your foundation.
@@JennaPhippsplant clover now to stabilize the soil before the rains come in the fall. You can remove it later once the plants you put back in have a good root structure. Please do this to preserve what soil you have left.
@rhinoandlue clover is so insect friendly too and pretty and much lower msintainance than grass
The way my emotions switched when I saw the view. At first I was almost to tears about that last tree because it was so beautiful (and old) but at the view reveal I went "well sucks to suck, the tree had to go".
In earlier episodes there was mention of wood rot at some points inside the house. It would be good content to have a candid update on the extent of any wood damage from water, carpenter ants and termites and if any remediation of the wood damage via repair and treatment is needed.
Every week I watch your videos I cannot get over what hard workers the two of you are! Great job on the yard and THAT VIEW! So worth cutting those trees down not just to save the house but the view is priceless!
You guys are really hard workers. Do you know how rare it is, to find a partner, that shares your same work ethic? You are so lucky that you found each other. Plus, you both are able to maintain a sense of humor, during a really hard time! Love you both!!!♥️♥️♥️
Don’t the trees help hold up the hillside with the root systems?
@@virginiacreager4331my thought as well.
The most addicting series ever. And they always come out just in time for lunch! 😂
usually I skip sponsorships. But here I always watch them, because I really want your house to be a success and I enjoy watching your content
That entryway light is GORGEOUS. After you polish it spray it clear lacquer. Wait until you see the lovely light patterns on the wall this lighting displays.
These two are so much tougher than they look! I've moved 1 tree that big across my flat lawn and I couldn't lift my arms for a week!
That's not a bee hive that you found in your house. That's a termite hive.
Yeah, had the same thought. They're not scared enough by that. Ugh... Bad luck.
@caffiend98 yeah, I would be less terrified by a bee hive. I would less terrified if it was a huge nest of rats.
They don't even look like bees...surely Jenna saying in the background "hey there's a beehive" was like a separate thing she found? Cause yea, those are termites. Also termite mounds don't look anything like beehives so, #confused
Looks like ants to me? The flying kind? But i live in Sweden so maybe not the same 🤷🏼♀️
@@tessml That's what termites look like. Long ants with wings. And this is the time of year when they swarm like that.
I am surprised you are not keeping the piano. You have so little left from the magazine pics. That was one thing I thought you were keeping since you had it covered and all.
Its probably ruin and too expensive to fix
Congratulations! Jenna and Nick on CBC news!
The thing they do with the arm is measuring the length of the tree. If you back away from a tree with your arm like that, once your arm just covers the tree top to bottom, then thats where the top of the tre will land once you cut it
That's awesome 👌
Hire someone to buck up the wood and you're going to have wood forever
Yep! Scouts learn that trick.
You guys have your own crossfit gym! The place is looking great and that view is amazing. I can hardly wait until you start putting the house back together; it's going to be gorgeous.
Yeah and we can see how the place & the garden would have been hard to upkeep for the previous owners once they got older or ill. This really is all uphill!
congrats you guys on your vancouver news appearance..im so proud of you both and cant wait to see more amazing house renovation vids in the future!!!
I absolutely love this house! It obviously has great bones, and the fact that it’s built on a rock with that amazing view makes it a home renovators dream. All the little gems that you were able to save and breath new life into will be so cool when they are finished, I’m sure you wish you could have salvaged more, but at least you have some great original pieces that will stay with the house. Can’t wait to see the rest of the work in progress. I know it’s hard work, but what a blessing that you found this diamond in the rough.
These almost make me forget how traumatizing my own mid-century modern renovation has been. 😅
What happened?
I bet it was worth it though, they don't design houses as good as they did MC.
Nic in the background putting the Bombas on 😂 lol. Also, he has the BESTEST “Woooooow” EVER!!
So, Same. OBSESSED. Typically watch crochet content. Cannot get enough of this series though!!! Love! ☺️🫶🏻⚒️🔨
You both are so hilarious. You both had me laughing from 1:54 in the garage. Keep up the great fun. 🤣❤👍
When I find my energy waining while I'm working around the house, i just say to myself, "Jenna and Nick wouldn't quit now! Gotta keep going!" Thanks for the inspiration you two!
I did that the other day, when I was clearing some tall weeds behind my house,
after a week of rain. I just kept going. thinking of Nick and Jenna and how hard they work. they are an inspiration 😀
You guys are getting better at demo! That garage demo was so quick!!
We did it in one day this time 😂
so excited to see what y’all plant in place of the stuff that had to be removed! it would even be cool if y’all did some research and use the opportunity to promote landscaping with native species to your audience - i dunno a ton about your area but i imagine there are some *gorgeous* native plants that are also low maintenance.
What a fabulous house you have found! The bones of the place are phenomenal, and the view cannot be beat! I look forward to the finished product!
View is incredible, glad the trees are gone. Good luck with all your adventures.
You two are goals-your work ethic is so impressive and your happy demeanors and compliments to each other are so heartwarming 😊❤
mixed feelings as a lil ecologist: sad about trees coming down but ecstatic about the content we'll get of a gorgeously wild new garden being put in :)
Same , and I really hope no animals were living in those trees
Yeah it takes years, decades, centuries for trees to develop all the nooks and holes for birds and animals to live in😢
Odd how trees in the corner of the property would be in the way.. I am surprised they would be able to get a permit to cut those ones down on the hill since they support the hill.. maybe they didn't.. that would be a hefty fine!!
your filming style kiillss me. Wes Anderson-esque. love. Respect on all the labor.
Amazing! Getting rid of two trees gave you a million dollar view!
I’m glad you’re restoring those chairs, good quality.
Dude, Jenna. I would’ve figured out a pullley system or something. You are going to be so strong when you are done with this. That is like superhuman work. You guys win the worked the hardest this week award.
Your view of the water absolutely took my breath away. Congratulations!
I normally skip the sponsored parts of any videos, but the way you two showed those socks was the best ever! I even bought a pair!!!
I've cleared away trees that size on an incline and hats off to you! It's no joke 😅
Just taking all of the boards and shelves down, made a huge difference to that garage!
And honestly not mad about Nick always standing in front of the camera .
Not you literally copying and pasting my comment 😂 and then not fixing the mistake from pasting it 😂
I found this episode surprisingly calming. Sad that trees had to come down, but love that exposed new view! Only thing that could make it better is not having that other house down below. You two are amazing! Love that you can work together and get along well.
This is better than anything you will watch on HGTV
Definitely!
Wow, you two work HARD. Good luck finding the magic amount of information to get the city to give you permits!
Can't wait for 1 Million Subscribers Jenna 🩷🩷
I don't think I have ever, EVER, seen anyone stack a bin like you guys. Usually its all willy nilly, Yours look professional.
A job well done. Look at the reward. That view is amazing! Thanks for sharing. I love seeing your progress.
I am consumed by your project. You two are stars in my book. You are so smart to put all this effort into your home. This is money in the bank!!!!
The way I jumped to watch the video as soon as I got the notification! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
THAT VIEW NOW IS EVERYTHING!!!!❤❤❤
I love watching all your progress you guys have made. I can't wait to see it when it is finished!
This is my favourite series, I love the vibes the two of you have together
Leave the tree down there in a nice pile for bugs and mushrooms to take care off. It'll also help with life in the soil for other things to grow happily once you plant them there ❤
Kinda random but my mom and I recently discovered we both watch your channel! We just adore your attitude and determination on everything! Just thought I would share 😊
THAT VIEW THOUGH! I am so invested in your videos! You guys are doing great work and making such great progress!
I googled the chairs. Very very high end!
They have teak legs! So 100% we are trying to preserve them
Jenna make sure the chairs dont have termites!
I'm thinking that's horse hair stuffed underneath, not straw
I agree. I have an art deco chair stuffed with it.
Those trees would yield some really amazing wood. You could have them milled into paneling or waynescotting. They looked like cedar so they'd smell amazing. Or Cedar siding for the house? It's incredibly durable and weather resistant with just stain. We had it on our house growing up and it was pretty much hassle free.
That would've been cool if they were cedar! I'm guessing they were pine. It would've probably been really difficult to get them turned into boards with where they were. I mean, getting them to a saw mill. Would've been awesome wood though!
You two are amazing, and I love your humor. It's great seeing the progress you've made and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.
You guys are doing a great job. It’s gonna look so good when it’s finished I keep watching every episode all the way to the end.
There's some value in all that wood from those trees. It might be difficult to get at it, but i hope you looked first before binning it all.
To buy a house in West Van at your age in 2024 is unique I would imagine. Just the view is quite spectacular. I'm glad you're biking, not just car travelling. That's a big project but you're up to it. Someday it will be over :) You did so much work since I came here a couple of weeks ago. Amazing.
I can’t wait until your first craft video comes out in this house!
You have termites guys! Yikes! Wow, you guys are amazing. I wish I was there to help you. When I see you have a new video up, I’m like all right!
I'm most impressed by you having a the energy/not dead sore muscles to go ride bikes!!! If I was doing this reno my body would be beyond dead my shoulders hurt just watching, highly impressive 😅
The music selections are the best!!!
Consider renting a wood chipper- you can use the organic waste on your property, offer it to your neighbors or simple reduce the volume for disposal
Yes I think that is fabulous idea and easier to get rid of all those branches than carrying up slopes. Loads of mulch ready to use too.
They addressed this. They can’t move a 400 pound chipper down that slope
@@lolofunslayer4953- they could have chipped it up near the house. They didn’t have to take a chipper down- they brought the wood up anyway 🤪
@@merindahthornton5080if they’re bringing the wood up the hill anyways, it’s more work and money to put it through a chipper than to flat out put it in a bin. 🤪
I love Nick's "wow" in every video lol Can't wait to see more of what you guys do! Loveee seeing every step of this project
Now, I'm so for replacing trees, but there's no reason that you can't re-plant them elsewhere so that you can keep that amazing view! The looks on your faces said it all! ❤ it would increase the value too, right? You guys are awesome, I love being a part of your reno journey!
I don't think they meant they're gonna replant in the exact area as that would make no sense. She just meant in general they're going to add some trees back into their landscape.
You should try to sell the wood for people who want some for their fireplaces, I love your channel From New Brunswick Canada 🇨🇦
What a beautiful setting! Those hills are gorgeous!
I'm so glad you're sharing your renovation with us! ❤ from upstate NY.
You have no idea how happy these videos make me! From seeing all the interesting things happen at the house, to feeling the love between you two, to seeing you share hobbies like going cycling together 😭 i’m in love with you guys! ❤
Can't wait to see the finished house you 2 have already done so much work
That view is STUNNING! Good call on taking those trees down. Coniferous trees can really make it difficult to plant a garden as well, so that will likely save you some grief down the line. I love trees, but trees on your property aren’t anything like trees in a forest. They need to be well planned and considered and then well managed. This will give you a better ability to carefully consider and select the right varieties for your needs and desires. Agreed, it’ll really help the house get dry and stay dryer moving forward.
I want one of those speaking buttons with Nick's "woooow" for every time I accomplish something or finish a chore
I must give it to you guys, you are really hard working! Really admire your work ethic and still filming while you do it. Big props!
Those looked like termites. Great video and love the music.
OMeffinG! I knew I'd seen those bugs before. 😣 going to need an inspection very soon. If there's a structural issue because of them, I'd be pissed at the person who did the inspection before you bought this lovely home. Great view! ❤ you two
I cannot believe how much you two have accomplished with this house!! I cannot stop watching this series!
Why did you guys not want to keep the piano? Just curious! Great job on the garage!! :)
The music choice for this video was so fun! ✨
