Truly appreciate y'all taking the time to watch and comment... really means alot! If you've enjoyed this one please consider taking a second to subscribe and hit the notification bell for more. Thanks my friends... looking forward to seeing ya around! -John
Despite all the funny comments (and some were really funny), it was very creative, and this build could give one ideas for many other projects that may benifit from some of these technics. Good stuff (wasn't talking about the music) lol
+Barry Jordan Gotta love the good ol' UA-cam comments section... always entertaining, lol ;) Thanks for the compliment on the stove build by the way... much appreciated!
I made a measuring jig and cut all mine with a 90 deg air grinder and a 5in waffer wheel then just took a tapered burr tip with my fingers and reamed what little burrs were inside the cuts. I used a bench vise for making the die and rolling the top. Made a jig on the drill press for spacing the 5/8" pilots. Only had to lay out the diameter lines. I made about 20 in assembly line fashion. Christmas presents for the extended family. I'll give them a stove, bottle of heet and a clean 2 pound coffee can for emergency boiling/cooking when the power goes out.
The video is actually very well done (compared to most awful vids on here). I'm sure you complainers could do better (not). Just appreciate what the guy did - and say Thank You.
This vid provides the best instructions I've seen for making a quality, durable alcohol stove. I have several home-made stoves, but none are as cool, I mean hot, as yours. Count me in. Ken
Love the video, and your channel :D I stumbled across this vid when I was looking at how to time effectively cut glass bottles, and have run through all of your stove and survival kit vids in the past little while. Im not a outdoorsman but this is some pretty awesome stuff that I intend to do soon :) I really like how you can distill hand sanitizer into fuel, that will save me a lot on alcohol fuel- meaning more fun (and dangerous- I admit) fire experiments (Im a pyro, guilty as charged) plus this will go great in my survival kit Im developing, and if I decide to go hiing the appalachain trail, I'll have a handy little stove for supper ^_^ great DIY
I don't know, but when my friend Darins parents went on vacation we went driving in their Honda civic and accidentally rolled it, after rolling it back onto its wheels we drove home and parked it back in the garage and made up a story that the car got stolen..
Worked perfect. Just cut the f'n can you use to make the die and pull it out with some pliers. WTF? Come on people. Youre makin it too hard. It took me 30 minutes to drink the beers and cook some sgetti o'S. If you cant get it from this video, just hold your breath till you die.
Man, I have watched most of your videos and am just really amazed at problem solving skills and how you share with us. Thank you for your time and services. Greatly appreciated. Jared.
Yeah John, thanks for the show. First one I made works nicely, although the newer aluminum bottles are shaped differently than these you use. A little unstable standing by itself. And your tip for the day, using Chapstick around the edges of the die will help it come apart, plus, #2 option, using a compressor in the air hole blows it apart nicely, although a touch forceful- so clear out! 1/16 air holes around outside wall only. I also crimped the upper edge with a pair of small pliers. One question tho is how long will this contraption last? ....now back to perfecting that rolled edge.
I realize your comment is 7 years old but if you see this; i used WD-40 instead of chapstick and although it worked, i think the aluminum just isn't the same mil and shape anymore so it needs more tweaking. I'm going to try monster cans instead with a different design but still the rolled idea!
Thank you very much my friend. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch, as well as leaving such a generous comment regarding the video... it truly means a lot to me.
" Your Opening Music Line Up is Awesome. " My Basement is homemade stoves and more galore. A Bench Vise with 2, 1" pieces of plywood for the inner curl job works well also.
Ya know the funny part? I almost included a boiling water clip... but then I thought about you ;-) Hope your weekend's going great man! P.S. You've got a couple things headed your way Brother (finally! lol).
My pleasure buddy! And I definitely hear ya about the dies... they're great if you can afford and/or justify them (by putting out large quantities), but these work just as well for making a few stoves once in awhile... ideal for the DIYer :-)
I bought them in Coles. Lots of regular tinnies but also Red Bull bottles just like the ones in the vid. They were on the top shelf - maybe you need to look up there?
Definitely. This is about the strongest alcohol stove design that you can build. Might seem hard to believe, but it can easily withstand the weight of a full grown man standing on it. I'm really hard on my stoves and this one gets the thumbs up from me for its durability.
I know huh! I'm thinkin' that a few wives are going to be pretty upset with me, lol. I can just hear it now, "But Honey, IntenseAngler said it would work", lol. I guess I should've clarified about doing it out in the shop ;-0
I am intrigued at the way you rolled the edge. I need to roll the edges of metal bracelet blanks. I may have to try this now! (my husband was watching how to make the stove and I was watching over his shoulder).
Yeah, it can most definitely handle the job. I just like showing a couple of different options for folks who don't have access to certain "specialty" tools.
I suppose that I should have put a disclaimer on this vid... "I can not be held personally liable for any damage caused to innocent cabinets during the construction of these stoves" ;-)
onetwothree57 oh that's funny, I have your profile picture as a tattoo. Only people like you that don't like tattoos and think it's just for fashion could regret a tattoo. If you don't like them don't get them and don't do any stupid statements like this one on someone else's tattoos.
Great idea! I love the way you made the die, then used it to join the two pieces together by rolling the edged over. I was wondering how you were going to roll the edge over so neatly.
Thanks my friend. Man, that issue with your DIY Axe stove is driving me nuts trying to figure it out, lol. If you want you can send me a pic of the stove to my email at intenseangler@gmail(dot)com... maybe we can put our heads together and get it solved.
I know what you mean, they are hard to find sometimes. A good alternative is to use empty hairspray or mousse cans with a rounded bottom (like the beer bottles)... easy to find at any dollar store and they work just as well :-)
Thanks Brother! I gotta admit that I liked the tune at first, but after hearing it for hours during editing I'm totally sick of it! lol ;-) Hope your weekend's going good buddy!
Thanks Brother. Glad that you enjoyed the vid :-) Yeah, getting a nice, clean rolled-edge can be a "hit or miss" sometimes. The solution is in the die. I've found that the smoother your die comes out, the better it rolls the edge over. Sometimes putting the bottom of another bottle inside of the finished die and then rolling it across a hard surface (with just a little pressure) will even out any imperfections. Hope that helps (and makes sense, lol).....
Anytime my friend :-) I know what you mean about people wanting to keep their "trade secrets" (and understandably so), but UA-cam for me has always been about the give and take of information. I've certainly learned my share from all of the people out there generous enough to pass along what they know :-) Hope you're having a great weekend!
Thanks Jeep, I really appreciate that Brother. These stoves are slightly more involved than the good ol' simple penny can type stoves, but the upside is that they're virtually indestructible (less time building replacements, lol). Hope your weekend's going good man!
Man, I'm glad you finished that comment... I wasn't sure how to reply to that! LOL Thanks a bunch for the kind compliments btw... much appreciated! How did your V8 stove turn out by the way?
I tried this and the trailer we were staying at fell off its supports and some old dude came out yelling something about yanks and the war of northern aggression and Gen Robert E. Lee and started shooting at us... Is that normal?
Thanks my friend. I'm with you... my Grandpa used to let me hang around his woodworking shop and I've loved working on various projects every since. Give me a welder or a grinder though, and watch out! LOL Really like your idea about using the clamps by the way (the hardest part of using a jack is keeping everything aligned)... thanks for sharing that :-)
I've seen ou do this before but still don't understand the mechanics of why the edge rolls in on itself in the process at 6:45-7:00. Probably unfamiliar with beer bottle dynamics....lol
Thanks Jim :-) Nope, no compressor needed my friend. I've found that a little petroleum jelly helps to keep things smooth (mostly for during the pressing stage), but even that isn't really necessary. You'll have to let me know how your build turns out :-) All the best!
Thank you my friend... much appreciated. I really like these double-wall stoves designs personally (although it's tough to beat the simplicity of the good ol' soda can stoves). Still love that video that you did on making an "emergency" stove in-the-field... that was just plain good stuff! All the best John!
Thank you very much my friend, I really appreciate the support and encouragement. I'm also glad to hear that you enjoyed Devin's trip... hopefully we'll be getting out very soon to do it again. He is really looking forward to it!

12 pack Bud Light- $15
Bottle of HEAT- $8
Look on you wifes face when you rip her cabinet of the wall- Priceless
Had the jack already etc. however buying a pick-up and 1 ton hitch was only $33K.
LOL! Thanks for the great comment Marv.
Great vid, I have no need for an alchohol stove at this time, but the way you made the rolled edge really impressed me.
I couldn't even watch this video because my body wouldn't stop uncontrollably DANCING!
+Tyler London I know right! Imagine how hard it was to edit like that! ;)
+Tyler London LOL! Set volume to 0!
me too I was on the crapper and my butt started dancing
lol
+Dr. Seymour Butts LOL!
A 6" bench vise and 2 pieces of metal will work prefect for rolling the edges.
Despite all the funny comments (and some were really funny), it was very creative, and this build could give one ideas for many other projects that may benifit from some of these technics. Good stuff (wasn't talking about the music) lol
+Barry Jordan Gotta love the good ol' UA-cam comments section... always entertaining, lol ;) Thanks for the compliment on the stove build by the way... much appreciated!
omg that music is absolutely horrid!
I made a measuring jig and cut all mine with a 90 deg air grinder and a 5in waffer wheel then just took a tapered burr tip with my fingers and reamed what little burrs were inside the cuts. With my luck, I'd knock the kitchen cabinet right off the wall! LOL!!
i was thinking that it didnt look like a good idea lol
that must suck having bad luck all the time
The music is that "free" music on UA-cam when you use the Video Creator app. (you get what you pay for)....
The video is actually very well done (compared to most awful vids on here). I'm sure you complainers could do better (not). Just appreciate what the guy did - and say Thank You.

if I did that in my kitchen to the cabinets, my wife would freak
We know who pushes the vacuum cleaner in your house.
ok so it would seem that Canada and Australia don't have these type of bottles I see dollar signs, selling empty Bud Light bottles on Ebay !
Nevermind seems like about 500 people beat me to it :)
Look for the Molson Canadian aluminum bottles. That's what I use for this type of stove.
Love the video, and your channel :D I stumbled across this vid when I was looking at how to time effectively cut glass bottles, and have run through all of your stove and survival kit vids in the past little while. hey you people i wrote that hook but gotta admit it does SUCK
i broke the kitchen cupboards off the wall with the jack now what do i tell the wife
I don't know, but when my friend Darins parents went on vacation we went driving in their Honda civic and accidentally rolled it, after rolling it back onto its wheels we drove home and parked it back in the garage and made up a story that the car got stolen..
tell her you're sorry about the scratches on the marble counter from the cement block you put under the jack! 😖

Cleverly used of a car jack. Outstanding and thanks for sharing.
It doesn't. That's one of the benefits of using these relatively thicker aluminum bottles... they're practically indestructible!
Man, I have watched most of your videos and am just really amazed at problem solving skills and how you share with us. Thank you for your time and services. Greatly appreciated. Jared.
Very cool, have to teach this to my backpacking kids so they can have their "own" stove. Count me in.
LOL @ the music. OOOOoooo dat key change at 3:30
Abdul Muhammad albeit you've got a few beer cans knocking about the place :)
Thanks man.
P.S. Not too late by the way... should be picking a winner in the next day or so. Best of luck :-)
Song: Judus Priest feat. Weird Al Yankovic
I knew if I posted enough vids it would eventually drive people to drink, ha ;-)
absolutely genious, thank you for sharing.
Yeah, they're virtually fool-proof (as evidenced by my ability to make one, lol).
Have a great weekend!
I know I've heard this theme song somewhere...where?!
Sorry 'bout that Brother... gotta do what ya gotta do though ;-)
Great idea for ice fishing or camping thanks
Very good video... 👍
When does the can melt from use
Yeah John, thanks for the show. First one I made works nicely, although the newer aluminum bottles are shaped differently than these you use. A little unstable standing by itself. At 1:11 did Anybody else notice the cocaine pinky nail?
yup
I literally was just thinking "nice coke nail" XD
.
+Matty Matt Matt the fuck is that?
I wasn't looking at his nails, lol
Outstanding video. Easy to follow with detailed instructions.
Thank you very much my friend. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch, as well as leaving such a generous comment regarding the video... it truly means a lot to me.
I got so excited when the shitty song changed key
" Your Opening Music Line Up is Awesome. " My Basement is homemade stoves and more galore. A Bench Vise with 2, 1" pieces of plywood for the inner curl job works well also.
You are smart as hell
Ya know the funny part? I almost included a boiling water clip... but then I thought about you ;-)
Hope your weekend's going great man!
P.S. You've got a couple things headed your way Brother (finally! lol).
Please never use this song again
Please learn how to use the volume control and mute button.

I agree. I usually sand and polish mine... gives 'em a kinda cool look. Thanks for the compliment on the vid by the way... much appreciated!

yes very inventive and entertaining.thanks.
This is a unique tool!

Yeah, I really think too bad anytime I see tattoos because tastes change over time but those d**n things will still be there

too bad ? pfft.... i make a few stoves and have way more tattoos !
I guess you win
yes. yes i do.
Yeah, the beer/soda can stoves are a great lightweight option, but these things are MUCH more durable! Not much weight difference either...
Great idea! I love the way you made the die, then used it to join the two pieces together by rolling the edged over. I was wondering how you were going to roll the edge over so neatly.

+RayVal53 Completely normal Brother. That's how ya know you're doin' it right ;)
+IntenseAngler Lol, alrighty then!
Not this time. It was a 10cm Imusa mug with the handle removed. Great fit for this stove!

Sweet dude, that's very ingenious.
You should get your own show or something, ha ha ha.
Hello Intense Angler
Greetings from Northern Arizona
This is very a skillfully informative How To Build A Rolled-Edge Bottle Stove video I have seen on the internet. After watching it a couple dozen times I tried to build one. Disaster though, but I kept trying. I originally bought a 10 pack of Beer just to get the bottles. I am 56 years old and I don't drink. No one wanted the Budweiser Beer, it was premium beer. I poured them out, down the drain.
Trouble yesterday the stove crumpled in the die. I worked so hard to make it. Well, today I started all over and did it almost. The die worked great the stove is perfect. I need your help now. The holes are drilled with a larger drill bit and the smaller holes are drilled with a smaller drill bit. What are the sizes of the drill bits?
If you could post an answer tonight I will lighter up and maybe post my first video on my channel. I am so pleased how the stove looks..

Hello
Figured out the jets on the stove using a 1/32 drill bit and twenty four holes. *Hint don't sand base for stove, it gets stuck in the die and will not come loose. Contact me at Brent375@q.com for any help.
