Plenty of ultralight hikers actually make & use these types of stoves. It's super light, the fuel is cheap & easy to find (usually available at the village store), and it takes up very little space in a backpack.
I was taught this in first year of boy scouts and it stuck with me even since. Only used it once while camping but you never know when something like this could really be helpful!
I vaguely remember working on a similar project in high school, but with no cuts, fewer holes, and the can oriented on it's side. Actually, it was probably after school now that I think about it.

I did this same project only I used a Dinty Moore beef stew can. It's steel, so there's no using a pin to punch holes. I used a 1/16" drill instead. But the methods and techniques are identical. It makes one hell of a burner. It's 4" diameter and 3" high.
The best one among hundreds that I have seen. Robust, powerful and that detail of security provided by insulation real brought this one to the top of my list. #1
1982 was actually a split year for copper pennies. Some of them are copper, some of them are zinc. You would have to scratch the surface, or use a metal detector to tell them apart.
@@austinespi1793 If you just needed one penny, it would probably be the most sure first to just find one from before 1982. But, if you were sorting them en masse. The metal detecting machines sort about 15,000 pennies an hour. So you don't even need to look at the dates at all. They cost less than $50. Automated demarcating machines can scuff the surfaces at a similar rate. Although, intentionally scuffing them like that is probably illegal based on the intent of doing it in the first place.

How many parts used oil to how many parts denatured alcohol?

Plenty of ultralight hikers actually make & use these types of stoves. It's super light, the fuel is cheap & easy to find (usually available at the village store), and it takes up very little space in a backpack.

You can also use magnets to tell them apart
Zinc doesn’t ping like copper, it makes a thud. All you need to do is put a penny on the tip of your knuckle or finger and strike it
@@dELTA13579111315 Steel pennies are magnetic, neither copper nor zinc pennies are however.
@@austinespi1793
If you just needed one penny, it would probably be the most sure first to just find one from before 1982.

Holy shit, this man is making a stove from a can while flexing silver bars stacked in the background.
I think they're aluminum.
Definitely aluminum. I used to smelt it.
Lead and/or tin.
More likely they are lead ingots that he can melt down to make bullets from a bullet mold. Self-reliant people like him would definitely keep lead around (it's often alloyed with antimony) to make their own bullets. I used to reload ammo (9mm, .45, and .308) but I bought pre-cast bullets in bulk. I think this guy is just ready for anything, including the boogaloo that a lot of folks are talking about right now. That's my guess.
Too dull for silver..too uniform for alum..probably lead
I am from Papua New Guinea and this home technology advertised is amazing and it definitely gonna save some kinas (Local currency). Thank you once again.

I'm a coin nerd, so I have to say.. "Actually sir", the three US Mints in 1982 Philly, Denver, and San francisco made 7 different variations. The start of 82' the mints used up left over brass penny blanks then the new clad zinc some large date some small date. you can tell by dropping them like old silver coins the ping will be different. and I just noticed the video is 5 years old...Doh
That was unnecessarily awesome. I will try this someday soon.
Isn't that dangerous to breathe

Dude, you are so awesome! Something this easy to assemble will be essential for people in bad times. You might think its not necessarily important but it so is.
