You're absolutely right. This was not the biggest hit from the album. But i really think that Tobias hoped for it to be. It was the first song played live from the then upcoming album Meliora when they played Sweden Rock Festival that same year. And he played it frequently in the beginning of the Meliora tour as well. But the first single from Meliora (i don't know if it was the labels decision or Tobias) was later choosen to be "Cirice" that was so successful it won the American Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance the following year. Since then it has been played less and less and is not a part of the live set anymore. But still many of the Ghost fans love the song and i always play it when listening to Meliora.

Someone should suggest Deus in Absentia. It’s from the same album, and it’s one of their most whimsical songs. The verse section is the most ABBA they’ve ever gone, while being very dark and heavy.

I like the way the syncopation makes the on-beat sections hit harder when they come back in.
Harmonies on live backing track. Ghost used Tobias's vocal harmonies on track live for the first 3 albums, just like on the albums. I loved this, cause his harmonies are perfection. So I was a little bummed when Ghost incorporated live vocal harmonies with the newer band lineups
I know this song so well, that I never thought about counting, even though I'm a musician... it just comes natural

Yes, definite Purple vibes at the start - then it goes off at a tangent... Off the brilliant Meliora album. Took me a while to warm to it, but I love it now, I always thought it was a filler, albeit a really good one. Never heard this version before, thank you!

You absolutely have got to check out Zenith at some point. It's by far Ghost's best song in my opinion.

The opening riff almost immediately made me think of "My Woman from Tokyo" . Which a quick search showed me it was, in fact, a song from Deep Purple.
HA! I haven't heard this song before, and I was absolutely going "DAMN, that's a Deep Purple song!"....glad I'm not alone there.

The off-beat parts didn't really stand out to me before; that's pretty clever. You're right that this is more on the deep-cut side (on the same album as Cirice, He Is, and From The Pinnacle To The Pit).
Counting is essential
Yep! This is Woman from Tokyo slowed down, and downtuned. But Ghost uses it as as starting point, and I feel makes it their own.

Ghost has been a solo project. Yes, Martin helped write some stuff, but it's always been Tobias. As evidenced by the outcome of the lawsuit. None of the other members contributed besides playing besides Martin
A band having a primary songwriter doesn't in any way detract from a band being a band. Ghost started as an idea by TF and evolved into a band when things got real and the need to go touring came up, certainly. But that organic evolution into a band, with step by step gradual changes, is what makes a band a band
Decisions were made democratically with all band members involved - or so it was thought. In reality TF was keeping the money from merch sales for himself and the other band members were getting the occasional pitiful payment from the record company, that they had to struggle to receive every time. They would have gotten more working in a supermarket. This is a grammy winning band we're talking about
If you think the outcome of the lawsuit was determined by the case in the local court, where the judge was a member of the same mason lodge as TF - then you're simply uninformed. The next stage of that process is the appeals court - but TF decided to settle immediately out of court to avoid that happening. That's the true outcome of the lawsuit
The best time of Ghost, after Infestissuman and the beginning of Meliora, they made real rock!
After this albums, nothing was the same... They become more comercial...
