- Escape the crowds of Whitstable and visit the picturesque, calm beach of Tankerton instead.
We visited a couple of weeks ago on one of the last days of 'summer' for a lovely chilled day including a trip to the incredible Jojo's restaurant, overlooking the sea, and enjoyed a lovely dog walk along the beach.
Our new puppy, Alfonso, loved the sea air and the pebbled beach. He also got to try out his new Pecute bag when his little legs got too tired to walk which he loved! You can get it too here: amzn.to/3F4zy13

Seriously????!!!! I've lived in Whitstable 42 years. Tankerton IS WHITSTABLE. I live there!!! It's a 2 min walk because it's the same town. The Down From London's have moved in and tried to distance themselves from the hoi poloi in the town. It's laughable. Cliffs???? There are cliffs at Dover, Folkestone and all the way down the coa st, Reculver etc. We are on a hill......my kids spent their childhood rolling down your 'cliff' to the bottom from aged about 5!!!!!

As a Whitstable local i have to say thats its not the same anymore, sometimes that could be said as a good thing but unfortunately not here because nowadays people have focused too much on Tourism and overcharged prices and really destroying the community feel that this town once had (which is what Whitstable is all about)
people were saying the same thing in the early 1900's about whitstable. Everything changes. Especially towns and villages. The community is what you make it.
