Watch VIA Rail's new fleet winding through the S curve near Alexandria, Ontario kicking up a snow storm. VIA 2202 is pulling train 26 in revenue service on route from Ottawa to Montreal. These are the new passenger trainsets that will be replacing VIA's current fleet in the Quebec City - Windsor corridor. Currently there have been 3 delivered so far, with another 29 to go.
VIA 2202 Charger Locomotive
VIA 2601 Business Class
VIA 2901 Business Class
VIA 2701 Economy Class
VIA 2801 Economy Class
VIA 2301 Cab Car / Economy Class
At 00:59 I have included a close up view of the train going away from the south side (inside the curve)
At 01:24 you can see a close up view of the train approaching the crossing.
At 01:56 is a side view of the train passing a private farm crossing. The crossing is equipped with warning devices that display 'walk signals' indicating when it's safe to cross. Once the walk signals extinguish - stay clear of the tracks until both signals illuminate again. This final scene shows this process from start to finish.

Thank you for a clear demonstration of farm crossing signals (and the sick new fleet content)!
Thank you for watching and glad you like it!! 🙂
Pretty interesting crossing gates! Very nice to see it curving around too.
Thank you! 🙂
AWESOME video kicking ass on curves in the snow
Great shots; cold railfanning ! Love the one on the curve and I've never seen a crossing signal like that either.
Thanks! Im glad you enjoyed it! The cold winter scenes are great except for freezing 🙂
That K5CA almost sounds like a mixed cast P5A at speed
Excellent video thanks for sharing
Thank you! 🙂 Im glad you liked it!
Nice video! I don’t think I’ve seen a crossing like that before either
I had the same thought, would be interested to know what that's all about. I'm guessing they are private crossings but with a bit of warning lighting added?
Kind of European.
Thank you! 🙂
Hello my dear friend.
Your video is great, I'm very impressed with it, wish you good health and have many good videos to recommend to friends around the world.
Best regards from Vietnam

Thank you for the kind words! Im glad you like the videos! I will try to make more! 🙂
Love this video!!!
Thank you! 🙂
Man it looks real cold out. Thanks Cheers!
It was a bit chilly for sure! Thank you! 🙂
We can respect your opinion. That’s also a Nathan K Low Manifold Horns. The K5CA-LS (KS-1L/1/3B/3) the other Canadian Tuned Horns.
Love the C&O-like livery!
For sure it does have that look to it! 🙂
Bonito vídeo gostei 👍 👍 🇧🇷
Nice shot! Love the last one. Thought it was me for a second, similar setup, I use a Rode mike.
Thanks! 🙂 Gotta stay bundled up in these winter conditions! How do you like the Rode mic?
@@100m.p.h. , love it. has a nice overall ambiance, great for capturing the horn echos, very rich sound. Had an interim mike when the camcorders built in mike started breaking up when right beside a horn event. The interim was cheap and terrible, mono, Been shooting with the Rode for over a year now and still on the original 9V battery. Only downside is you have to remember to turn it on. You may have seen the one or two silent movies I posted . Still happens occasionally but I don't post those anymore.
If VIA gets the go-ahead for HSR, then this curve, beautiful as it is, would have to be straightened.
But it makes a great place to shoot train videos, for now.
There would probably be a few curves needing straightening. 🙂
What's the track speed there? 55mph?
Great video, but I wish it was "High Speed"
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Its about all we have for high speed in Canada.
I see you in the end!
Thanks! 🙃
That's a great spot! I like the angle you used there. I've never tried that one. What video camera do you use. Looks like the same one I used with the fat dead cat on the microphone
What horns do the new VIA rail fleet have? Doesn't sound like a K5LA?
This horn is called the K5CA-LS. For some reason, they're not sounding it as loud as they are on the P42s.
@@TheRailfan360 the horn is similar to K5CA but its made by a different company and sounds slightly different
@@devvydoesstuff So they're not Nathan bells at all?
@@TheRailfan360 Someone mentioned it is a kockum sonics horn
Kockums "Tyfon" single tone is standard on swedish trains.
many snow, like
Thank you! 🙂
👌
Thank you! 🙂
Those trains look cool but the horns are unique. Not a pretty sound. I’ll take an M3H
Ok, I’m going to through this out there. But is VIA following suit with GO Transit on orientation of the trainset? Montreal (eastbound) locomotive leads. Ottawa (west/north bound), cab car leads. There’s only one test trip last April where it was backwards, cabcar leads eastbound. The two trips in August were locomotive leads eastbound. Just a train of thought. Is there really a true method to which end leads?
I wonder if they have decided which end will lead westbound and easbound. I think last April may have been just during the test runs.
What’s with the unusual crossing signals?
The crossing signals I think are for private farmer crossings that have limited visibility. It lets you know when its safe to cross. With out having all the gates, flasing lights and bells. 1 cheaper and 2 equipment wouldn't damage gates (as they would come down) if by chance they got delayed in clearing the crossing with bigger machinery (tractors, farm, etc)
Odd Railroad Crossing
I think due to the limited visibility thats why the special warning devices/lights. Cheaper thank full gates lights ans bells.
Is it just me or are some tracks just needlessly curvy?
