Thanks for this, there is no replacement for honesty and when hotels carry and are associated with certain brands they need to make sure they do the work to show that they are worthy!
That sucks. If I’m honest, if I feel like the hotel isn’t fulfilling its agreement with Amex my first thought is to leave. I know most people say you have to give them a chance to do this and that but I don’t. If it’s not up to snuff, I’ll just leave. I shouldn’t have to ask for someone to take the trash out.
Hahaha, I was waiting for someone to ask! So I’m quite slow at producing videos. I only have one platinum. First FHR (Ritz) was in August 2021, second (Cloudveil) was November 2022, third (Watergate) was in July 2023, fourth (Park Hyatt) was in October 2023, and finally Pendry May 2024. I had two in 2023 because I cancelled the vanilla Platinum and got the Schwab and double dipped benefits.
That’s really disappointing! I live a block away from here and did a staycation here. I actually really enjoyed it. I paid for the upgrade up front and didn’t end up using all the credits because we did dinner at Del Mar (great restaurant). In my opinion the Park Hyatt DC has the best FHR experience, mainly because they’ve upgraded me to their junior suite for free and their credit can be used for the Blue Duck Tavern which previously had a Michelin star and is a great restaurant.
I agree the room upgrade and pizza box would piss me off but the breakfast credit not working in room. Going forward this something specific you can ask in the future so you’re not surprised again or you may just want to change your reservation to a different hotel that allows that.
@@21socc Ohhhh I misunderstood you; honestly the breakfast credit didn’t bother me, I was just surprised the hotel credits are more restrictive compared to other FHR hotels. But I see what you’re saying, it’s good advice! Sorry about that 21socc
I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s like the analogy I used, you paid Mercedes money and got a Toyota. Toyota ain’t a bad car, but it’s not what you paid for.
If I stay at a cheaper hotel I would. But this is SUPPOSED TO BE luxury. I don't wanna pay top dollar to solve any problem. I expect luxurious service.
How tf! Does clean up crew forget to throw away a pizza box? $500 a night for a hotel and they can’t even throw away the trash properly. Man get outta here
So…the Cadillac was an Escalade 🤣. I actually got one of them to take me to the airport from the Waldorf Astoria 😆. The pizza box would’ve been a turn off to me. Luxury resorts aren’t supposed to miss details like this. They’re supposed to have someone else (supervisor or management) inspect the room after it’s cleaned to make sure their standard is being met. I am surprised of the very “intimate” lobby 😂. I wish I got to see a tour of your room though. I was anxiously waiting for it 😅. Based on your review, it sounds like the Pendry is lightyears behind the Waldorf Astoria when it comes to service. This is good to know and hopefully if their staff sees this video, it helps them to make improvements.
Same goes for me. I stayed at FHR Loews Regency New York Hotel had a same experience as you! Room over all feels like a motel or holiday inn. And service wasnt good
No, you should’ve went downstairs and said you were given a one bedroom upgrade. Show the email and ask for the upgrade! And since you did fight and get your upgrade, you could also do what I’ve had to do one time and that was call American Express directly and let them know. I was once at an FHR hotel that was not recognizing my benefits and I pulled out my cell phone and called American Express directly American Express Asked me to get the name of the person that I was talking to because they were going to call them directly! They ended up speaking with the hotel manager and I got everything I was supposed to get and then some.
I hope you reported this to American Express because having a UA-cam channels is great but if they aren’t living up to what we expect from an FHR then American Express needs to know this. I also have very high expectations when I’m traveling under the FHR program so just hoping that you aren’t just making a UA-cam video about this and that you actually shared your experience with American Express
Go figure, the Pendry hotel gave you a drypen, aka a Pencil. But seriously, yeahhh I think if you’re playing in the FHR game, you kind of have to step up and provide much better service. I think it’s like Michelin stars for restaurants, better be excellent or else it gets taken away. Same should happen for FHR hotels I think. Maybe I’m too harsh, but I know how upset you were, that should never happen with this type of stay. Driver saved the hotel. (juicy 😂)
A drypen? That’s a first haha. Yep, it seems like hotels want to be part of FHR not the other way around; so the Pendry needs to step it up. The driver was truly the best! Thanks Venture!!
Right! That’s what I was thinking; still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do though because I felt bad for complaining. However at the same time, I was promised an upgrade and pizza box, haha. Thanks Xavier!!
Hey Calby, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Definitely file a complaint with Amex. It might not change anything in the near term but if enough people complain, the property can be deflagged as an FHR property.
Front desk service would have turned me off. I guess you had some good and bad there. Not sure if I will stay there when there are bunch others. Thansk for the video!

thanks for the review. Glad I am staying at the Waldorf
how many Platinum do you have? I thought that $200 FHR can only be used once a year?

Not what I would consider a luxury hotel stay. Wowza. Thanks for the info + video!

i thought there is a free breakfast for FHR booking?
Ive heard you should call the hotel to find out as much details on what they offer FHR customers. So your not suprised

For me, I would have just placed the pizza box next to the trash and that would have been the end of it.

Crazy since technically the Pendry was more expensive than the Waldorf too.

Disappointing stay. Always advocate for yourself and get what's yours.

Hmmm maybe next time CJ, haha
@@CalbyNg give me my medal 😩
Dam bro. I wish u would of went to the conrad or W.A
Ohhhh man, I’ve been wanting to check out that Conrad for a while! But for sure, no more Pendry, haha

If they market as luxury they should keep up their end of the bargain 🤷🏻♂️ people pay premium for a premium product not trash 🗑️

Yo
Heyo!
My brother has the CSR and I just watched him pay for our food with the platinum card… 😮
Really unprofessional employee, ugh! I feel sorry that you experienced this. How could they even possibly mess up guests with the same last name.
