    You managed to read and review three books that I have also read and enjoyed. I read all three with a local book group to which I belong. We also tend to read award-winning books and books by award-winning authors. My reaction to each of these books was pretty much the same as yours, although I liked Gilead a bit more than you did mainly for Robinson's beautiful writing style. I've read two of the subsequent books in her Gilead series, Home and Lila, neither of which Iliked as much. But I would highly recommend her first novel, Housekeeping, as an eccentric story well-written as the others, but with a very different vibe. Olive Kittredge blew me away and I'd recommend Strout's My Name is Lucy Barton and The Burgess Boys.

    Nice to know somebody does! This is the order for Elizabeth Strout: Olive Kitteridge, Olive Again, My Name Is Lucy Barton, Anything Is Possible, Oh, William!, Lucy By The Sea. Five in total. The Burgess Boys is good too and the other stand alones are good too. Can't go wrong with any of her books in my opinion.

    I feel like i could watch you read a book and be so entertained. Id place bets on how many eye rolls you’d make for specific books.
    Elizabeth Strout is a god and idky it’s so hard to describe her writing but i call her an anglosaxon elena ferrante. I love her. The four book series that oh william is a part of is the lucy barton series, which i read and loved last yr, and i need to binge on the two book series of olive kitteridge this yr. So glad you’re becoming a fan of her work.
    Hm do i vaguely recall you saying you’ve read the overstory-richard powers? That’d be my pulitzer prize rec - and what a badass way to describe your reading taste to ppl 😎 The english patient-michael ondaatje is another great rec.

    Okay if you like this dreamy, novel forming collection of short stories then I really think you’d like The Starless Sea. I know you don’t like magical realism but that book almost reads like a collection of short stories but they surround a main story line and all connect to the main plot. It has that dream like quality to it and is written so lyrically and it’s really beautiful.

    You probably already know, but The Candy House by Jennifer Egan is ~kinda a sequel to a Visit From the Goon Squad and it is very good. If you do read it I think it’s chapter 3 that is so insufferable and cringey (I think on purpose) that you just have to get through lol

    so the new mic is nice, but it requires a different type of editing that you're using. The levels are all over the place, it sounds like you have a directional mic or something. You could switch back to the old one.

    • @cs0p
      @cs0p  Рік тому

      i know 💀💀 don't tell anyone, but this vid was supposed to come out the day before. I went to edit and heard the levels were fairly fucked, and then I spent hours figuring out how to fix the mic for next time instead of editing. And then I tried to edit each audio clip to smooth the levels and my laptop would overheat from the effort 😭 I almost scrapped this vid 💀
