the cynical humor, the crazy expressions the elite taste and the questionable audio quality, i think you're becoming my favorite booktuber - sexy subscriber
God, I thought you were a lefty all along, like you give out strong left-handed person energy. So much for my intuition & hunches lol. I usually try to solve mysteries while reading but I don't make notes and stuff; I just keep flipping theories about one suspicious person to the other. I'm usually wrong.
So I decided to read it and watch your video as I read. Yes, I have nothing to do and I'm kinda/100% depressed so it was a nice way to distract myself from existential dread. I agree with you that Agatha Christie writes in a way to frame every character so you can't predict anything. I don't like such detectives or probably as a genre at all, it follows a pattern where in the end there's a sudden ending with a ton of information. I enjoyed writing and the whole vibe. Do more videos like this. I loved hearing your thoughts. Any book would do. Thank you and have a nice day)
a depressed reader in a malaise? you came to the right channel for distraction. Yea the the info dumping at the end is annoying. but the vibes are a blast which is why i love agatha. I appreciate your comment! Have a sexy sexy day ;)
You know that meme of Charlie from Always Sunny in Philadelphia where he has a bunch of paper and red string all over a board, trying to solve the conspiracy.. this is what I picture 😆
1:04:55 Yes, it got mentioned earlier. Not so much as a "we were supposed to know that" it was more a "don't you remember that" moment. Little things that get mentioned in passing often become important. For all her faults Agatha doesn't bring up stuff she didn't mention earlier or invent stuff at the last minute.
So, I decided to read along since I also had this book laying around and I wanted an easy reading for the summer. I also took notes while reading (which completely ruined the fun btw) and I truly tried to solve it but, as you said, there was absolutely no way of figuring that out. It was unfortunate. But you were funny as always so keep it up! I've been binging your videos since i discovered your channel.
Watch the 2013 adaptation. It does a fantastic job of fleshing out the relevant plot points and addresses the qualms you had with the book. There are some minor changes but it does a great service to Christie's overall vision for the story.
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, but I watched like 3 minutes of the video before deciding to press pause. I decided I had to read the book before I watched the “movie.” Anyway, I bought the book on IBooks for $2 (you really have me breaking the bank here), and read it real fast and then came back and finished the video. I’m glad I did. I enjoyed the more immersive experience. That being said, my reading slump is temporarily gone. Now, I’m finally going to go read the Three Body Problem. This was such a fun video idea. Would definitely love to see another one (Agatha Christie or otherwise).✌🏻
*spoilers for the book Didn’t Lucky murder someone and the guy she was having an affair with become an accidental accessory to murder? I feel like that was brought up and then never talked about again😂 Like what was that about?
damn thank you!! It's nice to hear someone followed along 🫣--tbh videos like these are definitely more enjoyable if you've read the book. I'm glad I could at least temporarily help with the reading slump 😛--tell me what you think of the three body prob--I've heard great things and I need to read more sci fi 👀 also the book and all the people dying and accidentally being killed was a mess I've already begun deleting from my head 😩
@@cs0pUpdate: the Three Body Problem was very good! Already starting the next one. I put off watching the trailer for the Netflix series till I finished the book, so I just watched that. It also looks very good.
Oh, how blessed we are for this video!?! Bravo to you for all the time and effort you put into this particular content (make sure to get plenty of sleep!)!!! Fun fact- a couple of the characters in this Agatha Christie story are mentioned/show up in another Miss Marple mystery!?! Thank you, again, for your fabulous channel- if ever you set up a Patreon in the future, I will delightfully subscribe!?!?! Take care, laugh, smile and until next time, terrific Mr. Charles!!!!! 🎉
unrelated but that avocado toast looks soooo gooddd😭😭😭, and your videos really convince me to read Agatha Christie even more!! guess i'll read Mysterious Affair At Styles this month🤩
@@cs0p HAHA his pretty little liars recap series is iconic and started a trend of long form UA-cam videos where someone talks about stuff taped to their wall but if you got there independently then that’s sick too
I cackled at the intro plsss also the way I just started reading Endless Night and A Murder Is Announced (yes both in the same day bcs I'm undecided) a few hours before you posted this, our minds 😌✨. That avocado toast looked delicious af, need to try it too
You know you have = fans = when they come back one year later to watch the same shit they watched a year ago. Btw your old videos are popping up in my recommendations. Baby csop and sketchbook revivals and how to make pumpkin treats. Love all of it.
first off, full disclosure, I def skipped around in yr FEATURE LENGTH MOTION PICTURE second of all, the utter fatigue/self-destruction of "midnight mayhem" gave off performance art vibes
Csop's breakdown/fury at the end is so justified. Such a weak, scrambly ending and so many people and incidents introduced for no reason at all. Some author (JKR I think) said, "Readers like to be surprised, not conned" which is so apt here.
I watched a 1985 TV movie a couple of months ago on YT of that book: A Caribbean Mystery starring Helen Hayes. (Well, it was mostly background noise as I was doing other things.)
2:01 omg hi this is emmy and i am watching this 🫶🫶 thx for the compliments (i have never posted a book video ever and i just happened to be named emmy)
I was reading this morning and was like “oh my god I’d absolutely sell my left arm for a new Charles video and I opened my laptop and here you are!” Very good start to the day!
Hi! I hope you are able to do this again sometime soon, and if you do, I would llike to recommend you a novel that is pretty interesting and realistic. The name is "The truth about the Harry Quebert affair"
uh oh I tagged emmie in one of my videos because I talked about her bookclub and the books I was going to read for it.. I am uncultured swine and should delete that video STAT! 😂😂 oh wait did you say Emma or Emmie LOL
Once you finished the book I don’t think I stopped laughing your humor is so fucking funny

Wow I read this as "feeling very threatened"
AHAHA 81 minutes is low key a threat--but thank you yoo ;)

1:04:14 this last part was so hilarious lmaooo, like he ACCIDENTALLY killed the victim and all that stuff with the glass eye loooool
