I love this swap, I recommend it if you have the means! it feels very balanced and reasonable around town, but once lift engages it screams. It's very sudden and sometimes awkward on a corner if you hit lift
The engine swap was done by cardomain user blown59. It had changed hands by the time I got it, and I'm still trying to iron out a few bugs in the wiring. Here's a link to his build from years ago: www.cardomain.com/ride/2255550/1986-toyota-mr2/ That being said, I've done a lot to make it mine since I got it. Bodywork, suspension, interior, and I'm fabricating a new full SS exhaust for it over the winter. I'll try and find my build thread when I have time to dig it up.
out of lift it has almost as much torque as a 4agze. Yea they aren't torque monsters but its more than enough for these little go karts and you keep that race car feel of the 4age (all the power up top)
This seems like a fantastic swap! Did you figure this out how to do it on your own, or did you have any resources to work with as far as documentation is concerned? Also how many hours of work would you estimate this swap took you?
one engine mount needs a custom bracket. Gearbox drops in. Gotta join up linkage for gearbox. You'll need some kind of ecu. fuel must be changed to returnless. custom exhaust and intake are necessary. Overall not a very hard swap but 20v/4agze are easier (but less worthwhile imo)

i found mine a lot better when i lowered the lift engage point. Comes on more progressively and you lose that dead spot in the middle (well reduce it)
Where did you get this engine swap done or did you do it yourself? I'd love to swap a 2ZZ in mine.

Is this swap worth doing, considering this for my 89? How does the car feel in the lower rpms(out of lift)?

I heard you need to extend the rear engine mount.
yes, this is the only mount modification
