Finally, I see a conversion that outdoes the performance of the N/A 4age stock setup. This is something I could consider, seeing that i have two AW11s floating around.
I saw one before that didn't have half the power you got, and half the range....and that was only a few years back so, this conversion is now something I think many in the twin cam 16 world could consider as an option since parts are fast becoming rare with these older models. I have boxes of parts myself for the AW11 from the many I've owned. What many called junk parts in the past are actively seeking them out now. Lol
Smart, parts always get harder to come by as time goes by. I do love a good 4age but tech improvements over time will mean electric motors and batteries will only get more efficient.
The mr2 is a perfect setup for electric, I want to do my blue 92 turbo into electric as it ows me nothing as I paid £275 for the thing, its a Cool car the aw11 I'd like one too 👍🏻
This is very well done. I previously owned an 88' MR2 in white with the t-top, a/c and power everything when I was single. I upgraded the exterior by having the mirrors painted white, purchasing the 89' supercharged MR2 smooth door handles (having them painted white) and purchasing the 89' MR2 supercharged rear spoiler with the LEDs (having it painted white with the factory silver stripe), because I'm my opinion, they looked better than the black door handles and the single light under the rear spoiler when I was single. I really enjoyed it the time I had it. Everything changed after I married my wife and had daughters. I went from driving awesome 3 pedal 5 speed manual transmission sports cars to driving a 2 pedal 8 passenger minivan. I did not see that coming.
It was the second gen that was notorious for snap oversteer iirc. The first gen (at least with the right tire and ARB setup) is supposed to be more similar to 3rd gen, which oversteers very forgivably ime.
Epic! Love the 80s vibes with "future" technology !

Hopefully as they get more popular conversion costs get cheaper.

Great effort Seb. Such a unique build. Well done.
I loved my '85 MR2 back in the day. This would be a dream to own a EV version!
@@paraglideworldwide2643 Nice. This particular car was for sale a little while ago….
Ive had my aw11 for 14 years and always thought converting my mr2 to electric would be badass. Well this confirms it.
Thanks Roger! Hoping you get another 14 years out of the little beast!
Fantastic work.
Thanks Nick 👍
Saw an MR2 up for sale locally, it looks so great. Had the same idea to convert it to an EV! I might have to seriously consider this
Thanks for watching! You should definitely give it a go!
Absolutely fantastic! I want one so bad! Nothing against electric cars I just want one that can handle well.
This crazy and I love it
Glad you like it!
Seen a bunch of AW11 EV conversions but this one is the only one that doesn't shove batteries in the trunk and frunk carelessly, very nice
Was very well thought out by the owner.

Yes it’s actually drives really well! Good luck with your project!
The real EV sport coupe we needed
True!
Love it.
So do we!
Well done 👏
👌nice build.... which inverter did you use? I bought my MR2 because I want a 4age 🤭😂
Believe it’s a HyPer-Drive X1. 4AGE is still a great motor imo.

Thanks for the comment Eric! Yes, how life changes as we get older!
Any kind of build log?
Check out Electric Toyota Celica and MR2 on Facebook 👍
Can you still get snap oversteer
Less likely with the weight distribution now.
@MattDutton how hard would you say it is to hit snap oversteer

So the gears don't work?
Has the oem mr2 5 speed, although doesn’t run a clutch.
@Matt Dutton so the gear box Is for show
@@sakarimacrae2637 Its fully functional, not for show
