Things to consider when researching laser treatments: 1. Past a certain level of acne scars, you will never achieve perfect skin texture. Please, weigh this with your budget. At best, these procedures can give you a 30% reduction in scarring. At worst, it will do nothing. That's about $500-2000 wasted. 2. The depth and texture of your scarring dictate what laser you can use. For more topical scarring, resurfacing does a decent job. For moderate to severe ice pick scars, you will need fillers. No laser currently goes deep enough to effect moderate to severe ice pick scars. 3. None of these effects are permanent. That's right, you HAVE to return to the office every month to 2 months. These procedures do not fix, they alleviate the appearance for a short duration. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and stage 4 aggressive acne, I've done everything there is: vampire facial, IPL, Erbium laser, CO2 Laser, Microneedling etc. I even have my own regimen at home to supplement my treatments from the clinics. However, my skin will never be perfect. This is after 5 years of continuous treatments and meticulous home care. Why? The level of acne I had has scarred my skin to a level that can't be fixed unless I do invasive surgery or fillers. Fortunately, if I continue getting maintenance work from the clinic and keep up with my own skincare, my scars look decent unless I am tired or dehydrated. When I'm tired, you can see everything. Hope this helps. The main thing is to have a healthy level of expectation. Some of us are lucky and have scarring that can be fixed straightaway by these procedures. The rest of us will need actual surgery to even come close to perfect.
What has helped you the most with your acne scarring? I have terrible scarring on my face, and now at 60 years of age, the scars are showing more than ever.
Aw, I’m sorry! Getting facials has really helped. I use the product Image, I love their chemical exfoliants. It has not completely cleared my cystic acne scars but has helped even out my skin. I’d recommend getting professional facials/chemical peels.

Perfect, thank you. I've been researching and there are close to 200 different lasers. Thank you for helping me weed out the ones that will work for my symptoms. Much, much appreciated.
Great video! I just had a Pixel laser treatment this week which is like a mini-Fraxel, it definitely stimulates the collagen and makes my skin look younger!

Great! I love lasers and enjoy learning about them. I had 2 CO2 laser treatments last year and everyone remarks how young I look. I want 2 more this year. Downtime was about ten days. Doable
How much did it cost? How long did the results last? I’m just finding out they are shorter than I had known. I'm hoping to get it done soon, once I find a Dr. in my area.
I’m scared of c02 😂 after reading RealSelf reviews. I’m very light skinned and just some minor skin laxity under the eyes. Over all skin is pretty good for mature skin. How was your treatment? I would be getting it done with my ocular plastic surgeon
@@amandalouise3597 I had DeepFX CO2 on my face and neck (down to collarbone) done by a local PS and the cost was $2500 for the procedure and all office visits. Cleveland area. So right now I'm almost 5 weeks post-procedure and the results are amazing. It's really improved the firmness of my overall face and of course the fine lines. I still have blotchiness and that will continue for the next month or two. My husband says I look 10 years younger. (yay!!) I am planning on doing this again in January, it's that amazing.
I wish I saw a video like this when I had a laser resurfacing. It has been the worst experience... It's been 1 year and 9 months and I still have not recover... I had crazy redness for over a year..... and I still have a lot of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. My skin has now stretch marks and it became extremely sensitive. The reason why I did the laser resurfacing was because I was having a lower bepharosplasty and the surgeon said that the laser resurfacing will help tighten my upper lid and my jaw line (you mention in your video that is not true). I will advise to any person considering this treatments to be extremely careful or even better don't do it.
I feel your pain....I did diode laser acne treatment, only one session, was recommended to do it for my light acne and post acne.... 3 months post procedure my skin is extremely dry, wrinkly, not holding any moisture, burning from dryness 😭😭😭😭And I am only 30 years old. Can’t wash my face as there is nothing to wash, also very tight skin, also started noticing light stretch marks on my face because of very tight skin. And some pigmentation

Thank you for the informative video. For commenters, please be aware that there is someone with Dr Karam’s photo saying to contact them. This is most likely a scam and I’ve reported their comments, but wanted others to know and be safe.
Contrary to your video, I had Halo this past December and I had downtime of 6 days and had to use a post-procedure ointment. The results were phenomenal though so it was worth it.
I've had a Halo 3 times over the last 6 years. If you have the funds... it's worth doing even once. I'm about to be 48...nobody believes that's my age. Avene Cicalfate cream is great after this treatment.
As a laser technician this was great! I appreciate you educating people on the difference. There are so many that think it’s a one & done treatment and it’s not. Then I make sure to educate & reinforce that what they do afterwards is far more important. Some people don’t want to invest in the pre & post skin care with these treatments. If you’re spending this much money invest, or you’re just wasting your money.

I’m not sure if I have melasma or hyperpigmentation. It’s a bit disappointing that there are no treatments to remove melasma if someone has that. Thank you for all of the information!
I'm in the same boat Marie. Grew up as a pale freckled face kid and my "tan" now is probably all my freckles connecting. Wonder if treatment would just revert me back to a pale freckled face ADULT?! 🤔
Several years ago I had really bad dermal melasma on my cheeks. I tried a hydroquinone prescribed by a doctor and even though it lightened them a little, as soon as I went out in the sun, it changed the melasma from brown to grey. It was awful. I decided to do more research and go the natural route. I discovered the deep/dermal melasma is caused by adrenal problems, so I cut out alcohol, sugars… I started taking zinc, vitamin D, and magnesium. I started applying Desitin to my face (yes, Desitin, as in the stuff they put on baby bottoms to get rid of rashes). Desitin has a high concentration of zinc. I also purchased a powder zinc, mixed it with a little water and wore it as a mask. After a month I started seeing a difference. I think it took a year to completely get rid of the dermal melasma. I recommend you try this and hopefully it works well on you like it did for me.

Even if best of best surgeon do it, it comes with risks and it depends on how individual reacts to the surgery. Even in face lift, after 2 years of doing it, face region of sides to the mouth drops due to skin laxity. Best option is not to go for surgery and take care of the skin from young age. I did some surgeries not to my face but I do regret it. Huge scars, very long healing time, infection, not so great results etc. are few reasons
I have 2 questions: 1. I was told that Thermage lasers do address laxity and tighten the jowls and neck areas ....??? 2. I thought the hydroquinone product was considered carcinogenic?? Many thanks for the great in-depth videos, I learn so much and really appreciate the time you spend educating us on good skincare protocols and rejuvenation. 🙏💗
This was incredibly helpful! If I'm going to spend a few grand on my skin, it has to be what's right for me so it's not a waste of money. I recently had a local med spa try to get me to do Morpheus 8 when my focus is sun/brown spots. I'm going to binge the rest of your videos now!
But how do we know the difference between brown spots and melasma? Seems like some of the providers I saw doesn't even know the difference or care about the difference. Thanks!
Do you have before and after pics of a female in her early 60’s that has had the Erbium YAG laser? I live in MD and don’t know anyone who uses that laser. I have rosacea as well. Would this be safe for me? I don’t have the pimples associated with rosacea, just redness. Thank you! Love your videos.
Hi thank you so much for this important video. Do you know if Lumecca ipl can address rosacea with bumps? Or is it better to treat this skin condition with bbl? Thanks in advance 🙏
Dr. Karam, I have enlarged pores on my cheeks, nose and chin since my teenage years. I am now 50. I would like some advice as to what is the best course of action to reduce them. I have a good skin care protocol, but have not yet tried laser, micro-needling etc and I'm anxious about selecting the correct treatment. I don't want to damage my skin. I have used Retinol in the past. What would you recommend for this issue? Thank you.
Thanks a lot Dr. Karam for this educational video. Can CO2 and Erbium YAG cause facial fat loss? Which lasers would you recommend to reduce fine lines around the eyes, especially those just below the lush line?
Co2 cool peel has significantly less downtime. Erethyma only lasts about 1 day and baby soft skin appears once the dead skin sloughs off about 7-10 days later. Trt is much more efficient now with Tetra
As usual, very informative. Thank you very much! I dream about going to your practice and be treated there, unfortunately, I live far away. 😢 God bless you! And keep doing your wonderful work!
I cannot thank you enough for the education you are imparting to us. There will always be, ‘snake oil’, marketing to fall prey to. I like facing facts cannot thank you enough!
Thank you. I've been wanting to know if any lasers can actually help sagging. Btw none of those reasons you mentioned is my reason for not wanting facial surgery. My reason is I'm scared, mortified by the possibility of my face looking different, especially my eyes and the "exactly like myself, only younger" is very hard to achieve, even if it's done by a top cosmetic surgeon. Am I right?? Anyway, I'd be their worst nightmare because I can see the slightest most minuscule detail or imperfection that no one else has noticed, and that's not ok.
I dunno, I’d say I look like myself only more refreshed and younger. (I had a face and neck lift, and upper eyelids) Several of my friends have had the same. We all look good. We have not had filler, not much anyway, but some Botox…
for sagging, like in your jowls, u can do kybella to dissolve the fat, then microneedling w radiofrequency and then threads for a non surgical face lift. you’re welcome lol
@@SkinWitchNYC The problem is that jowls are often the result of your cheek fat pad descending and collecting at the bottom. This is something doctors don't discuss. They'll just tell you that you "lost volume." But when I pull my face with my fingers, I can clearly see that the volume is not lost, it just migrated south! So, if I dissolve it with Kybella, I'll be left with true volume loss all over. Still worth considering, as it beats the cost of a facelit, and jowls are the worst thing. I'd rather have a gaunt face than jowls. Nothing is more aging than jowls. Young people can be gaunt, but they never have jowls.
This is very informative. Thank you. I have purchased a thermal lift for sagging skin. Can you give me some information on the effectiveness of this procedure. Basically is it worth it.
Dear Dr. Karam, can radiated skin (after cancer treatment) be treated with lasers or chemical peelings? The treatment was 10 years ago, but the skin in the radiated area altered extremely fast. I am planing to get treatment, but am hesitant about lasers etc..
Thanks for the clarification, Dr. Karam. You mentioned lasers never correct laxity. What do you suggest for lower face/neck laxity for someone a facelift isn’t a financial option ?
Hi, if you want to remove fat from the jowls area for example would not 1.5cm rf needling be beneficial in isolated areas? Your skin is absolutely gorgeous btw!
Laser treatments can be effective in treating blackheads on the nose, although they are not typically the first-line treatment option. Consulting with a dermatologist or skincare professional is recommended to determine the most suitable treatment approach for blackheads on the nose. They can evaluate your skin condition and provide personalized recommendations based on your needs.
Some advise please.... who is qualified to do all these different types of lasers? Surgeons dermatologists or ? Please advise so many people offering these laser treatments.

Thanks!
Appreciate very much your explanations!Crystal clear dos and donts!!! Outstanding communicator!!Thanks a lot💯👏👏👏
Great video..what about red led light therapy? Pros and cons. Is that part of lasers or is it different??
I have same question.
I’ve had broken capillaries lasered twice and the results were good but they just come back. Isn’t there any permanent solution?
Congratulations on your finish of Red! She’s beautiful!
I’ve been told I have melasma. I can’t wait to see your video addressing how to treat it.
Watch Dr Shereen Idriss
Thank you.
What about dry skin and crows feet around the eyes after 40, what would you suggest Doctor. Thanks!
What would you use for broken capilaries, redness and age spots? Does radio frequency fall into all of this?
Very informative. Question: I have seen a video, where CO2 laser is used to minimize under eye bags, do u recommend this? If so, which one? Ty again
Is there a risk of melting facial fat with a Halo procedure?
Great video, Dr. Karam. Question: The Erbium Yag helps with vertical lines. Does HALO do the same with vertical lines?
What laser would you recommend for olive or dark skin?

What is the best laser for facial hair?
Doctor,
What laser would you recommend for acne/ rosacea, please?
Hi Doc what is the best laser for the stretch marks. Thank you for sharing your video
I cannot thank you enough for the education you are imparting to us. There will always be, ‘snake oil’, marketing to fall prey to. I like facing facts cannot thank you enough!
Thank you for making this video😊😊I’m tired of hearing how Morphis 8 can tighten your skin.😮and neck
Super educational; I wish I could afford any of these. Thanks

Do doctors look at pictures of you when you were young to assess their surgical approach? I never see this discussed.
for sagging, like in your jowls, u can do kybella to dissolve the fat, then microneedling w radiofrequency and then threads for a non surgical face lift. you’re welcome lol
Thanks so much for your great video , Dr AmirKaram. I have red acne scar when I was 20. Do you think needling would help? Im 40 now.
Thanks
Hanh
Which ones work well on darker Asian skin and do not exacerbate hyperpigmentation

Hello, thank you for this very informative video doctor What's the difference between Erbium Yag and Pico Laser?

Dear Dr. Karam, can radiated skin (after cancer treatment) be treated with lasers or chemical peelings? The treatment was 10 years ago, but the skin in the radiated area altered extremely fast. I am planing to get treatment, but am hesitant about lasers etc..
Hi Dr. Karam, Thx for the video! I am just interested to know whether you have any advices for big pores?
Hi Dr. Karam, is a pre-treat with Vitamin C also fine? This is what I was adviced. Or should it be Hydroquinone? I have a brown skin.
What do you think of using plasma jet for treating brown (aging) spots? Does that work? Or is plasma jet a form of IPL laser?

Thank you for this informative video. Does laser treatment get rid of black heads on the nose? Thankyou
