    Great content!
I've had 4 different laser treatments for different conditions.
    1. I've had V-beam treatments on my rosacea and it works very well.
2 &3. I had my thyroid removed and had CO2 fractionated laser and IPL on the scar. You can't even see the scar now. Since the doctor was firing up the laser and it was going to cost the same, she did the CO2 on my face as well. It stank like burning flesh, but after the peeling stopped my face was as glowing as a newborn baby. I would certainly do the Fractionated laser again, but it's very expensive.
    4. I had CO2 ablative laser on a burn on my hand (done under general anesthesia at a hospital). It was the last piece in the healing of my burn and virtually removed the roping between two of my fingers, it eliminated the tough and ever cracking scarring on my thumb knuckle, and it softened all the other burned skin. My hand looks so good and is so soft.

It maybe turned the clock back 5 years. The recovery regimen was also excruciating. Would never repeat without general anesthesia. Cost was $2500 for full face. As a 61 year old it is not affordable to simply ‘do it all’ even though you spoke so eloquently about laser being a boot camp and fab results require maintenance on a consistent basis. I wish I would have known this earlier. I heard about a very light laser that I wanted around my eyes. I saw a demo on a health show using a specific laser and my local dermatologist had that laser. I really just needed a very little around the eyes and the rest of my face was good.
    In 2019 I set up a treatment.
Now, here's the importance of heavy research and then being very aware at each moment. You see, as I sat in he chair the assistant prepped my face and used a machine that hurt like holy hell. I said STOP because according to research the laser I was getting didn't hurt. She said the cool pack I applied afterward on my skin would ease the pain. I wondered why I was asked to bring a cool pack because the video I saw was a quick walk-away procedure with no mention of a cool pack. The video on that laser procedure said it wouldn't hurt.
That's when the assistant doing the procedure told me it was a full face laser and that it would hurt.
Since I already started I decided to tough it out to the end. How bad could it be right? Wrong! My god, my husband had to get me 5 more cool packs for the entire face and neck as 2 weren't enough. For about 4 days my face was a raw scab that was agonizing searing heat pain, burning like my skin was flayed and dipped in boiling oil. (Ok, I've never had the flaying happen, but if I did I'm pretty sure this is how it would feel).
I couldn't go back to work after a week so I had to book of another 2 weeks just to heal enough to do my job.
The office didn't tell me that this could be a potential scenario. I felt lied to BECAUSE I WAS LIED TO.
The sad thing is that this procedure I had done didn't touch the eyes, as it was too harsh (yeah, no kidding), and because my face skin was already good you couldn't notice any difference after it healed.
In other words, I went through excruciating facial pain recovering from a procedure I didn't need and DIDN'T ASK FOR.
When I listen to people talk about the full face laser, and don't explain the raw skin that burns on fire and the scabbing that takes at least a few weeks to heal (as serious scabs usually do) then I know they aren't honest and I won't let them touch me. I really want to use that laser on them and then make them go back to work in days so they can feel what it's like.
Do your research and question everything. Make sure you get someone who is trustworthy, not like the assistant I went to at Dr Lowe's dermatologist clinic in Alberta, Canada, or you will endure an unexpected nightmare that might not even benefit your skin.

@@cathyincolorado1432 I'm glad yours was honest too. I suspect the people doing it have never had it done on themselves, and don't do a Q&A follow up. When the laser was finished the dermatologists assistant I went to said that people never come back for a 2nd treatment of that laser she applied.
No kidding! I would never go for that scab-your-face laser the 1st time if I had been told the truth. As a matter of fact, the centers that gloss over it by lightly saying that it scabs over and heals very quickly are a health risk, because the first 4 or so days of pain are so excruciating a person could suffer from serious health stress reactions due to the sheer volume and level of searing pain. A face that feels like ot's burning on fire could cause a heart attack or stroke. That's how painful the face-scabbing laser is.

      @stop_and_smell_the_roses 2 роки тому +7

@@cathyincolorado1432 Oh yeah, having gone through that level of dishonesty the thought did cross my mind. When my face healed I inspected it with a magnifying glass, but like I said because I didn't need that laser I could see no difference than before --- which was both a major relief and aggravating at the same time.
In 2014 I got scammed by another doctor at the Hummingbird spa. I went in to ask if there was help for malar bags. The dr hooked me up for filler, which didn't help at all. A few weeks later I went in to an experienced esthetician working out of that spa who said filler wouldn't help, only surgery could remove larger malar bag fat ball puffy pads at the cheekbone. The esthetician knew that the Dr knew this, and it was a very uncomfortable convo to say the least. I left a detailed review on their website. Actually, the filler in the cheekbone felt very painful for days, like my face was slammed into a cement wall. The undereye filler and cheekbone filler, along with a botox at the eyes that she recommended (even though I didn't need at that time) all looked saggy after it left the skin, because it stretched the tissues like a balloon that loses air has stretched tissues. It was am obvious money grab. The spa I went to, along with the dermatologist climic I went to, and many so-called professionals, wouldn't recommend scrulptra because it's natural and lasts a few years.... there's not the level of return business $$ with things like sculptra. I remember the one and only time I got talked into filler under the eyes and cheekbones I laid up in excruciating facial pain wondering why I wasn't told that it could potentially feel like you were hit in the face with an oar.
I have learned the hard way.
Dr Karam is educating me and I feel like I could trust his information cause I'm ready to get my under eyes fixed after they sunk and hollowed when the filler wore off.
I'm not sure how long fat transfers last long or if sculptra would be a better undereye option.
Now I have to fix the mess that the other doctors made.
If I was a doctor I wouldn't do botox or fillers (they can go somewhere else) and I would explain all potential pain sensation. cause I have a high pain threshold but it would have been better overall if they told me the potential pain factor.

Wish I could have seen this video long time ago...thank you for the lesson about lasers.... Too many medical estheticians have very little knowledge about this semi new ( and rapidly growing) modality of aesthetics. There's too much commercialization involved in between the patient and doctor and I find that not many doctors have been able to perfect their skill with whatever device they buy and solicit as the fountain of youth but with doctors like you that are driven to tell the public the truth about what devices are available, who actually develops the devices, what they actually treat and the downtime for each and every device and treatment is great to know to help people do the research for themselves versus depending on a doctor who may or may not have the patient's best interest in mind or simply may not have enough skill or knowledge to correctly diagnose and treat their patients.

Recent studies show that lasers can lead to the increase of Granzyme B which is associated with fat loss and premature aging. This is why lasers look good for a while but often times it backfires (months/ years after that). Doctors often only see the results from days/ weeks after the treatment. (I am not sure if I am allowed to post the studies here?)

So I mean absolutely no disrespect towards Dr. Karam who is an incredibly knowledgeable and skilled plastic surgeon but for the ladies that can’t afford these procedures and for those who want the convenience of using something safe in the comfort of their own homes I highly highly recommend using a red light (therapy/therapeutic) mask. I’m in that category and I’m thrilled with the results it’s given me for only using it regularly (30 minutes/day) for the past 3 months. I started my skincare journey a couple years ago and began by improving on my diet & exercise then re-evaluated my skincare goals and began an improved regimen including serums and moisturizers (and sunscreen of course) plus added collagen supplements. But the red light mask has taken everything I’m doing and elevated it beyond my expectations. The proof was in my new/recent driver’s license photo… I couldn’t believe the one from 4 years ago was even me. Which is why I wanted to share what I’ve been doing with all of you.
Edit: the serums I use are vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, the Ordinary’s “buffet” with copper peptides, Super Drops and the Youth Bomb both by Beauty Pie. The cleanser and moisturizer are from Meebak (Korean) that both contain the Cica plant which has brightened my hyperpigmentation and discoloration issues on my cheeks as well as my neck which had darker rings. My neck is now smooth and has an even skin tone. So between the red light mask and the skincare the hyperpigmentation areas on my cheeks are almost gone.

Thank you Dr. Kamar for these very detailed informative videos. I have Ehlers Danlos Type 3 (ED III) with the hypermobility. This condition affects the production or use of collagen. My problems are not so much wrinkles (although I'm starting to have some) but loss of wolume and some sagging. I'm 57 and people think I'm much younger. I think that is because of my thin face and neck, my high cheeks and full lips and long dark hair. My skin is actually velvety and my hair very shiny and silky. It's kind of weird... I don't know what happens with the collagen... it's like it goes to the outside but it doesn't support my connection tissue at all and my face is going down! Anyways, I know my face and I'm starting to look old. I have a feeling that my options are very limited because this condition doesn't have a cure and the problem with the collagen will continue not to mention little cuts and scratches tend to need more time to heal. They heal, eventually, because I had many surgeries (in my mid section, front and back) and the incisions heal but I'm concerned about the healing of any incisions on my face...even the tiny incisions of microneedling...I'm afraid they can leave scars on me. I don't really know. I'm a little bummed up about it. I've never heard any plastic surgeon talk about how they can help patients with ED III. Do you have any patients with this condition? Were you able to help them? Can the results last in those cases? I would really trust your expert opinion. Mine could really be a case study! I think the vertical restore could also help with the pain I feel on my face. When I pull my face up I feel pain relief around my eyes and cheeks. I have chronic pain due to this and the fibromyalgia. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome. All of that is reflected on my face and although I try to smile I always look tired and in pain ... because I am. There's not too many people with ED but I bet, just like me, they all would like to look better. Thank you so much for your attention to my question and for doing such a wonderful job educating the public. Victoria

Hi! I have Ehlers Danlos too! Although, mine is Class 1 hyper mobility. Before I had my face /neck lift, my Dr called my rheumatologist to get his opinion on surgery. I was 56 when I had it. I wish you much success in whatever you undertake 😊
