      The Rap verse on the intermission is sick.
      This review and the reviewer are just expressing an opinion and its the wrong opinion.
      This record is a 9 out of 10 and the reason being is that the record is short. I want more Drain and I want more Drain (yesterday) now....

      Absolutely loved the intermission track and the cohesiveness of melding the two genres tastefully.

    Ever heard of a "suburban middle class dad" who is the happiest man alive when he plays with his band in hardcore fests ? That's Sammy !!

    To be fair the only reason they included shakewell on the interlude part is that, originally shakewell was a hardcore / deathcore vocalist / bassist and while he is now a rapper he was a prominent figure in the LA / Monterey/ santa cruz hardcore / metal scenes

      @@rosiegothicc666 idk anything about shakewell but i would say that's probably true. and also, most of the time when hardcore bands collab with someone nowadays, it's because they're homies, they're in the scene, recorded with them, etc, so outsiders will always question the weird or different collabs or features or whatever on records and fault it as a negative because they just don't know much about the band or their peers

    • @hannahkozlovic1715
      @hannahkozlovic1715 Рік тому +1

      I thought the interlude went really well with the album, hardcore and rap kind of go hand in hand in a way. Also just knowing the background of Drain and the Bay Area scene, it seems pretty obvious that it was included as a shoutout to their homies in the scene.

    For me this album was ALMOST just ALMOST PERFECT, like so close. Two small complains and if it was the other way, it would have been a 10/10. Complain number one, the Interlude should have been the album Intro, it felt to me that killed all momentum and restarted it but I would have loved to be an intro instead of an Interlude. Second complain, the ending feels just meh, that slowdown into a fade out feel so meh, I wish I finished up with more of a BANG. Two small complains short of perfect, 8/10, DRAIN really brought it to light, this is Living Proof that you can achieve your dreams if you just put your heart to it. Cant wait to see how big DRAIN get with this record, this could be the next Turnstile.

      i think the intermission would have been stronger if it was just the rap part. drain coming in with instruments, the riffs in the intermission are very basic, it just feels like they just wrote it in 5 minutes cuz they needed a break. but like... why are they doing an intermission of more heavy music? if they wanted a little break, why not just keep it the rap part to give the listener a break. in california cursed, "hollister daydream" was a sick intermission, very 80s testament style riffing, but inserting a break of basic heavy riffs just feels like filler. i like the album opening hard with RUN YOUR LUCK so it's hard to say where i would part the rap interlude. the ending is very weak. i thought after sammy yells "living proof" and after a few of those simple strummed guitar chords, they were going to come back with the heaviest breakdown on the record.. but it just fizzles out. living proof starts hard with that catchy cowbell intro but has no real breakdowns, hooks, catchy riffs or solos.. honestly living proof is probably my least favorite and filler song on the record. and then it just ends, then has a 60+ second boring outro, which for this album, feels like an eternity.

    Never heard of these guys. I was actually listening to this album randomly at work today. I was looking for something new and the album art attracted me. I felt 'punky' at the moment. Clicked play and wasn't disappointed! The rap verse made me think I was listening to a different band entirely for a minute, had to dig in my pocket and check the screen haha. Overall pretty nice!

    Long time metal head and the intermission is sick i thought of it as way to appeal to a broader audience (like u mentioned) Building a bridge to another completely different type of genre.

      @hannahkozlovic1715 Рік тому +4

      A lot of hardcore kids are big fans of rap and hip hop as well, so it’s also a cool way to add some other kinds of music that the main audience for the album is gonna be into.
