Can’t wait to say “name 5 songs” to the first person I see in a Bell Witch shirt.
Just checking in to brag that I've seen the surprise live premiere at Roadburn Festival from the first row. :)
was on the balcony complete stoned
@@nostalgicdystopian To quote my own review: "This wasn't just a Funeral Doom performance. It was a direct intervention into the laws of space and time.". ;)
I'm pretty sure when I saw them open for Neurosis a few years ago, they played a small excerpt of this.
i passed out during that set due to the sheer heaviness
(according to the medic i had a lack of sugar but nah it was definetely the heaviness)
Same. What a show that was.
I think, because of the theme, this is a really interesting one to listen to in a bunch of ways. Since it's about dawn, part of that deep moment to moment listening for me is visualizing the actual coming of sunlight. The lyrics on this song/record do a really great job exploring and stressing the weight of dawn as an event, how it's inevitable, how it sort of forces the future to be determined like some quantum science stuff. For me, Dylan's outro solo is meant to be a quiet rest in the new day's warm sunlight after the sort of monumental, inevitable, violent shift of dawn crushing night, feeling the breeze, just appreciating everything in the moment as a meditation.
The first time I listened to this, I was frozen in place and didn't want to move or do anything. I felt like the silence after it ended was still a part of the song, in a way. I didn't want to break the state of mind I'd been pushed into.
There, Blayne didn't get into the "perverted" shit he was supposedly teetering on the edge of, so I brought you some flowery English major vomit. You're welcome.
Personally, this is a 5/5 for me, right on par with Mirror Reaper. I could not be more excited for the rest of the trilogy.
Thanks for the shoutout Blayne! Really appreciate it ⚔ Thats so funny you remember me from all those years ago! - Ole
I feel like more people should listen to Bell Witch, the trance your mind goes and the emotions and feelings you get is UNMATCHED. Whenever I put on Bell Witch, my eyes just get closed immediatly and I just feel the tempo and the energy and its just amazing. Cant wait for the 2nd and 3rd part.
New Runemagick is awesome! I love that album, and there are parts of the ablum that do not sound like traditional death doom. Why Blayne did not have this album in Mental Monthly I don't know! I'm also really excited Nadir, based on the singles I've heard, and I have to agree, the cover is what first drew me in to checking them out.
Bwell witch is a Doom version of "The Caretaker"
and this album is a Director's cut of "It's just a burning memory" path.
I bought it right away. Too bad the vinyl was sold out immediately. But I like the idea of the CD too.
I once tried to explain Amorphis's acousic tracks to a Slayer fan by a frozen river...
It took time.
But we made it.
Saw their Roadburn gig premiering this record. The same amazing feeling as Mirror Reaper live.
Caught them in concert last night. Fantastic show with brilliant video back projections.
It didn't hit me like Mirror Reaper did. But i am holding out to hear parts 2 and 3.
Same. It got better with more listens
I frequently Watch your bids never. I give you (and the channel 10/10) for the energy, humor and love you bring to this music - and for being based in Canada. Cheers!
such a great album, cant wait to see them in October
Another recommendation closer to Bell Witch would be the new Hellish Form album. It's excellent too.
Does the Banger crew have any plans for reviewing the new Extermination Dismemberment album coming out tomorrow the 5th of May? 😉
This is one of my favorite albums by them
Jesse is playing drums (at an extremely slow pace) and organs with his feet simultaneously while also singing death growls. Unbelievable stuff here.
I felt this album was a bit more hummable throughout compared to Mirror Reaper. So in a manner of speaking MR did have a bit more variety for me. I need to listen to this a few more times before I can judge it honestly though. I did absolutely hate all the bits in the album that reminded me of MR because every time a riff started off similar to it I expected them to end it like the former but when they didn't I just got angry. Honestly I think it would be quite unfair for me to judge this album because of how much of an impact Mirror Reaper had on me as a metalhead and even as a person. Even though I knew going into this that I should not expect MR and I should not compare to MR it was basically impossible for me not to.
Waiting for the next 2 releases though - hopefully they'll complete the sound. And hopefully they won't leave me hanging like this one. I think I *need* the full 4+ hour experience. I don't think this one really "resolved" for me.
Loved Mirror Reaper so the expectations are high. Will give this a listen. Thank you for the excellent review.
I of course purchased the vinyl once I learned of this. Tempted to wait to spin that vs. spinning it digitally. Shrug.
Pumped to get my copy of this!
Good entertaining review. I missed Erik Moggridge`s vocals on this album. It feels like a part 1, which is exciting and a little bit underwhelming.
FINALLY WE GET A BELL WITCH REVIEW
That album cover though! 💥👀
LOL Not surprised in the LEAST that Blayne hates Avatar movies haha
Cool review dude! 3 listens on the album so far... Starting to unwrap it lol
It's Pocahontas/Fern Gully/Dances With Wolves, ... but in space.
He hates all things popular/mainstream
That's it. You have to listen to it multiple times to really enjoy it. I think it's amazing.
Can we talk about the elephant in the room? The size of that microphone and cover and the NSWF memes that are implied by its prominent positioning in the video :). Loved the review by the way.
Hey where did you get that NONE shirt
Nice shirt Blayne.
This album completely consumed me, I absolutely loved every second of it.
Unfortunate that the audio of the music is so damn low in this clip though😊
LESGOOOOO 🤘🏻
PLEASE , REVIEW ONE FOR THE TWO BEST BRAZILIAN METAL BANDS:
*VULTURE* - Abandoned Haunt Of Cosmic Hate (Death Metal) (formed in 1995!!!) ;
*DROWNED* - Belligerent - Part I - The Killing State of the Art (Death Metal/Thrash) (Formed in 1994!!!)
I was mixed on the song when I first heard it, and still am after 3 listens in total. It doesn't hit the same, or any, highs as Mirror Reaper, and is more of a slumbering mass of dreary funeral doom with no cathartic release as such, comparatively speaking. Plus, Erik's vocals were sorely missed. There's also a section that could easily be excised as it brings the song to a complete standstill.
Not a bad song, and if I had to rate it on its own, I'd rate it way more favorably. But that's not the case as MR is the best modern day funeral doom ever, and there's really nothing that comes close.
Hoping the second part is more of a knockout.
Nice music to... fall asleep
Review the new Haunt, it's a banger.
“All parts of the sadness buffalo”. That’s it, that’s as perfect as we’re going to get here. Shut ‘er down, that’s a wrap!
9:51 You called? 🙃

Review Pa Vesh En "Martyrs"
Trust a pair of doom heads to have high squeaky voices
This time I am here from Drawfee which vith served to darken and hasten the natural response I would have to this
Edit: I did this; ooooooh
Edit: given the standard layering it should be noting I did also do an OOOOOOOOOH and UGH
Okay as someone who both watches Drawfee and this channel, what episode please of Drawfee do they reference Bell Witch? I would like to know. Lol
NONE🖤
So what you're trying to say in this review is "Bell Witch is sexy af"
It wouldn't be a Blayne review if things DIDN'T get weird and sexual.
This is an ok record but it just doesn’t have the same weight and impact of Mirror Reaper. Maybe Part 2 will be better. We will wait and see
Get your pillow ready cause you’re about to be asleep….
Do get expensive cables
This is scary
3 Skulls 💀 💀 💀 it wasn't that bad it got a bit boring for some parts
the "album intro" is not an intro.
the Blayne intro syndrome is deafening him.
The whole album is an intro 😂
@@Hegder exactly 😂
None > Bell Witch
i enjoy both but im hyped for the new NONE album from Hypnotic Dirge Records !
This dude reeally values his own opinion, to a point of smugness. Good on ya.
Calling bs on (some of) this fanbase. I think the Mirror Reaper popularity is much more a product of being hipster cool rather than its sonic content. It has the raddest album art in recent memory, though we’ve sadly reached the Lewandowski saturation point (RIP much respect forever). All these people ain’t staring deep into the abyss for a Fear Inoculum amount of time. Not trying to gatekeep as this ain’t really my gate to keep, though I have given the experience a few shakes in the interest of ART.
Honestly I don’t get this band.
Reviews shouldn't have certain expectations because of previous efforts. It's a disservice to the actual album and the review. Just "knowing" it wouldn't be as good as "Mirror Reaper" seems like the wrong way of going about a genuine review.
Art is not experienced in a vacuum. It's totally fair to compare this record to Mirror Reaper as it was such a big deal and influences so many peoples' expectations of the follow up.
@Nadir Reuter going into a review with expectations and coming up with a score based on your expectations isn't exactly the open-minded way of going about it, in my opinion.
@mick4316 Unfortunately once a band sets the bar at a certain height, they have to produce at an equal level bare minimum. And that isn't even taking into consideration output from other bands.
I dont get these guys or the hype. Its just the epitome of boring. Maybe I just dont like meandering, formless, melodyless music
You're not alone.
Same bro, shit is boring as fuck.
It's the kind of music you like if you're high, a hipster, or doing something else while you listening to music.
This music is probably rad on the giant speakers almost nobody has anymore, like if you could listen to this working from home surrounded by giant speakers blasting Bell Witch you would probably go into some beautiful trance I dunno. Look at vibrations and musical therapy.
Oh, a circle jerk about a funeral doom band being boring... that's new! 🥱
