As a German who grew up in the Black Forest I’m stoked to see you actually using real Kirsch! I see countless recipes for „Black Forest“ cakes and cupcakes on the internet that don’t use Kirsch. But what makes a dessert „Black Forest“ really is the booze! Otherwise it would only be a chocolate cherry dessert. Thank you for your lovely recipe and for making these cupcakes the real deal!

For my christmas cake this year I was in doubt if I should use kirschwasser. ( planning to make a schwarzwalder kirsch polar bear) but watching that delicious buttercream you made made me decide to run to the liquorstore around the crner and buy a bottle. Sometimesyou have such great ideas I can use for my own cakes.I love your channel.
Black forest is my all time favourite and these look lovely, but I can't help that think that butter icing and fresh cream will be just a bit too much together. I'd make them but just use the fresh cream and make them more like a traditional black forest gateaux.
Ive just made them and i thought the same thing so I've tweaked it a bit by putting a forest fruit 'jam' in the middle instead of the cream (made by just putting some frozen forest fruits on the hob to reduce down with a bit of sugar, tastes so good!) then I'm making normal whipped cream with a bit of vanilla to pipe on top to finish it off. Ive used the jam with chocolate cake before and the two go so well together as the forest fruits are a bit tart so it helps cut through the sweetness/richness of the chocolate and cream. The cakes are absolutely delicious though so would recommend trying the recipe even if you tweak it a bit!!
Enjoyed see two of my favorite channels doing a collab. However the only cupcakes out of the 3, that Jamie, Barry & Mike made that I’d spend my money on would be Mike’s.
Great video as always...and I love BFG flavours. However, where I live in SE Asia I can't find good quality canned or bottled cherries, only syrupy Maraschino for cocktails. Do you think a little dollop of black cherry jam in the cupcake centre would work? And maybe make a basic sugar syrup with a little jam to flavour it?
