- With this jigsaw circle cutting jig idea you DON'T have to drill a hole to insert the jigsaw blade to cut the wooden circle. So, with this woodworking idea we will cut perfect wooden circles with no marks in the edge. Cutting circles with a jigsaw is quite easy, and making a woodworking jig to cut circles is also very easy, and now, with this woodworking technique those wood circles will have a perfect and clean edge.
A similar woodworking trick also helps to cut a perfect oval (watch this video in my new channel):

The wood circles are even better than the ones I cut with my table saw circle cutting jig:

This is ingenius!
This is perfect since all I have is a jigsaw. Other videos show routers, etc. which I don't have. You came up with a simple technique.
I often don't have the "ideal" tool for the job, and have to come up with something that works as good and even better. Saves money too.
I wish I found your video before I bought a 9-inch hole saw for my subwoofer project. I already have a jigsaw and didn't know I could cut a perfect circle of any diameter, wow! Thanks for sharing!
😁
Very good job! Brilliant!
The radius guide is an old trick. I use one with my router to cut large circles. The entry trick is new to me, though.
For cutting an inside circle, put the temporary screw between the radius center and the blade. You'll need to drill a hole to start the cut, but it will be clean, just like his outside cut.
BRAVO
Nicely done, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! I have not seen a BETTER idea than this for cutting circles. I planned to make 3 side tables with circular tops, so now I have the best solution. Thanks. SUBSCRIBING!
Thank you very much 😃. Soon I will also cut wooden circles with a bevel in the edge 😃
Beautifully executed my friend! Very clever! TYFS! 💘💘💘
Great hack!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Fantastic!!!!!
just brilliant - would never have thought of that
Ver smart. I would not have thought of this technique.
Thank you! This is a great idea.
Very cleaver indeed...thanks
Very smart entry trick - thanks for the idea!
Just what I needed. It works a treat so well done. Don Adams
Ten thumbs up! Great idea!
Ingenious!
Great idea.
Thank you. I just used this for the first time I ever cut a circle. It saved me so much trouble.
Thanks for your opinion after using this trick :)
Very clever!
Вот знал , что надо как то подвести пилку к кругу , теперь все понял , большое спасибо за идею .
Very clever idea👍
Brilliant video. Thank you very much.
Great process, looks like you can reglue the outer ring with an invisible joint too
Thank you very much. I am going to try this.
Thanks for sharing, nice idea.
Thanks for sharing
So smart. Thanks
I do not have a router yes so this is perfect! Thank you so much
Thank you teacher
Great!!!
Great .. thank you...
Excellent job great idea
Good and simple works well
Thank you.
How do you set the jig saw in the board like this?
Brilliant .
nice thank you so much
Wonderful idea! I am going to try this right now. Thank you.
Thank you. In another video I make a better jig to cut perfect circles with perfect vertical cut in the edge of the wood :)
Good Job!
Clever entry technique - nice work!
Thank you very much. Did you watch how I use something similar to cut a bevel in the edge of a wood circle using the jigsaw?
This is brilliant! It makes a perfect circle! Way better than drilling a pilot hole to insert the jig saw blade.
I agree 😁👍
That's a brilliant tip, mate 👍🏾
Cheers for sharing.
Thank you very much Bill 😃
Genius
Good job👍👍👍👍👍 amazing idea 🤜🤛
Awesome and simple = 2x awesome! Great vid.
It is great when one finds a simple idea that works great 😃😃😃
nice idea
Im surprise how clean the cut was. What blade did you use?
Nice work
Even the offcut looks super useful. Imagine putting the second screw at the 4 cardinal points you would have some nice cams or spacers!
Now I remember something. Thank you :). Coming soon
Great video mate.
Cracking! Just used this to cut a circle and it was spot on. Thank you!
Very clever Sir..
Clever guy
Very good sir I am it fan
Super
thanks for sharing that
Thanks for watching 😃
Amazing! Thank you I am about to try this to replace rounds on my barstools. Thank you for making this video. New sub!!!
Thank you very much Robert. You can also watch the new version in my channel
By far I think this is the best cutting a circle I have seen. Thanks - How did you attach the jigsaw?
much better way to start without leaving a notch on the circle
Yes, that was the idea. I wanted to avoid that notch in the edge of the circle :)
Me like
You can also cut internal circles if your new pilot screw in between main screw and jigsaw. But you need to drill a hole.
This is great! I saw another video that used coat hanger wire instead of wood but your method looks even more reliable 👍
I am trying to decide whether I need a circular saw to cut straight lines in 12mm mdf (200 to 500mm cuts). Is this doable with a good "budget brand" jigsaw?
Could the same jigsaw be used to cut 11cm circles in 3mm mdf (with fine tooth metal blade)?
Brilliant!
Simple and effective, new sub.... Know Expert
You are a genius mate, you think outside of the "box" i like that well done.
This is brilliant, as all your ideas are. Thank you!
👌😊👍
I like that awsome i made a lazy susan and all i have is a skilsaw jigsaw and a sander i can see a small wobble i was thinking of securing my sand and the susan to the bench and just spin it till she's round
Thank you, you just saved me from having to try and convince my wife to let me get another expensive tool.
This is clever! But I think it could work for holes as well? If the extra pin was placed between the main pivot and the saw, the saw would swing inside the circle instead of outside. Using the same ‘line up the line’ technique and switch pins should then give you a perfect hole?
I am already making some test 😃. Actually, as soon I I have cut the wooden circle in this video, I began to try to cut inside circles. In advance I can say that tight curves can cause a lot of burning
Nice! now i need one to cut and keep the outside circle.
Same principle, but not as easy. I am making some test already 😃
@@WoodworkingwithDIYtools i am excited to see the video
genial, Gruß Armin
How did you make the jig on the jigsaw?
10/10 on all fronts 👍👍👍
Excellent! This never occurred to my mind. Thank you so much!
So simple yet it is amazingly accurate.
I tried to repeat this method but ran into problems with the jigsaw blade being deflected by the curve or the circle (I was trying to make a smaller circle as per the above video)... The jigsaw never got to bite into the wood... I had to cut it out by hand and eye on a bandsaw. Disappointed that the above method did not work for me. Any type of special balde being used? Angle of attack? Maybe a square board would work better, I imagine once the blade is into the wood and following the curve it would do the job.
Thanks for the video....
That will certainly come in handy. Thanks.
Very, very good idea!!! Thank you!
Simple yet ingenious. I’ll use this myself. Than you!
What a great mind!
Now that is a brillant solution & certainly an out of the box idea! Nice work....👍👍😉😉
Got a video starting with a sqaure board instead of a circle
That’s really clever thinking!
Great idea, many thanks for sharing this!
You are a clever guy. Thank you.
Do you have instructions for making your jig? I'm a newbie.
That it's a great idea
Une très bonne idée, Monsieur 10/10
God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ amen!
Very clever, even brilliant solution! Thanks for posting it!
A perfectly serviceable jig, better than what I've been doing
Great idea thanks I'll have to try that! Thanks 👍
When I tried this the more I go in cutting the blade gets tilted and the circumference of the circle gets smaller !!!!????
That's great. Off in the garage tomorrow to make one
Drill your start hole on the outside of the your circle on the waste piece of wood lol.
