Good tutorial. Another thing to be careful of with chainsaw cases that have plastic latches, the latches themselves are sometimes fragile, and if you stress them too much, they will break.
Austin, I really enjoyed when you sent pics of the packing process, of the guitar I purchased from you back in 2016 (Gibson ES-335). No one on Ebay or Reverb ever did that before. It really did give me some peace of mind.
Austin I bought a 6534 head off Reverb 2 weeks ago and you should have seen how it showed up. He literally pieced together a home Depot box with Tape. So I open it and it's just wrapped with the cardboard. That's it. Amp, wrapped in cardboard. He did ship it with the tubes out though. So I open up the boxes for the tubes and I guess he cut himself because there is blood dropped down on the tubes! I took photos of everything and luckily I had my own el34's to use. Definitely wasn't touching those! Couldn't believe it but the amp actually worked. It's a made in the USA Peavy so I guess they are road Worthy!

Great advice, on how to pack a guitar with care. As a former UPS employee I can confirm we don't give a flying hoot if a package says Fragile. That said as a player if I ever loaded a guitar it was given extra special respect. Personally I've always been to afraid to buy a guitar online, but you make it look tempting Trogly.
My job is shipping off tools, and paintball/airsoft gear for the store that I work at. I do the exact same thing as you shipping orders off and my customers with the tools that we sell in North America know when I have repacked a box because the tools are alot more secure then when our supplier packs the boxes. I save all the packing materials that I get in the store and know what boxes work the best and hide them away in my shipping material area. We sell BBQs and the packing materials (like that foam) they use are some of the best. There are some corner re-enforments that I get in BBQ boxes that go in the orders that need it Always nice to see some behind the scenes stuff
Lol the best hsc ever made were those old 80s peavey cases. I shipped a t15 to colorado springs from detroit by just putting a shipping label on the cases and sending it out. Got there without even a scratch on the case lol.
I personally dont need a full explanation of how you pack everything every time but I allready know how to ship a guitar. I do like the behind the scenes stuff though. It is cool seeing what you have lying around...
just so you know that "really nice Styrofoam" that doesn't flake up is called "closed cell foam" Open cell foam is also used sometimes, its a bit softer but has a rougher feeling to it, where open cell foam has that slick smooth feeling to it.
Want to have some fun? Our post office makes us pack stuff there and then so they can see what's inside. I had to return a guitar to Thomann for repair and was really lucky she didn't insist that I open it. Took me over an hour and a cat helper to pack. When she said they might open it, I said I've got no problem with that I'm not responsible once it's in your hands. Apparently there was a package with "toys" that weren't toys... my guess is not children's toys anyway.
You're really good at packing these up. Considering the cost of these guitars, I'm sure you want to make sure they get there well protected. I ordered a used Ibanez guitar from a Guitar Center in Florida *without a gig bag OR case* and they did a surprisingly good job shipping it without it being destroyed. They put it in an Ibanez bass box, _then_ in a bigger box.
Yes ! This was a very informative video. Can't wait too see more. The other content and reviews are very informative as well, luv it all even ur messy room. Lol
A good method to remove previous shipping labels or bar codes is to heat them with a heat gun. They will then peel off cleanly. Marking them out works just as well, but should you ever need to...
GREAT Information. Pretty sure you could have your Business Card Printer provide uncut/long material with your name on it to place between the strings and frets during shipping. Maybe ask each buyer for their preference about removing the bottom Strap Button. I have seen so many guitars with that area damaged due solely to shipping. As to the condition of your messy work area, yeah, it looks like it sees a lot of regular use, and that is a good thing! Again, great information here, thank you.
I have purchased 4 guitars from Austin, 5? and mine were all shipped with no box, no case and just a sticker on the guitar saying "Best of luck, hope it makes the trip"...!! LOL, no seriously the guitars I have purchased from Austin have all came better boxed up than when you buy a brand new one!! But Austin you never sent me a photo telling me where the selector knob was at, the first time I panicked a little but then I remembered you say in your video's you remove it, so I found it and all was right again. Now, all those cards he puts in there come in real handy if you are the type of person who likes to help others out. I took some of them and left them in truck stop bathrooms and when I sell a guitar I give my buyer at least one of his cards. I usually put one in the case and then at the pos (point of sale) I hand them one. This was a very interesting video Austin, and to be honest when I first saw what the subject matter was going to be I was not that interested. But I ended up enjoying it and learned from it so good job again.
I have bought three guitars online. All arrived intact, luckily, but none had been packaged with the concern for its safety that you show in this video.
Very informative video. I don’t think I would like to see every instrument packed but certainly anything that requires a unique type of packaging would be nice.
I love unboxing videos u get that new guitar feeling every time but I don’t feel u need to do many boxing videos except for maybe some different guitar types like hollow bodies or acoustics you’ve covered your standard solid bodies very well thanks Austin ROCK✌️🤘
bubblewrap can react to nitro ..I've had it happen (Although foam seems much worse). On a different note, Trogley, you should enter into the Japanese lawsuit market..brands like tokai, burny, greco are a lot of fun to collect and made some amazing Gibson style guitars.
Bubble Wrap can 'out gas' into finishes. Also Bubble Wrap in hot-temps should be avoided, it can and does leave impressions. New Finishes are more prone, but in general all Bubble Material needs to be familiarized with before made to contact finished-wood.
If your gonna make me sit thru too many of these,i suggest some shipping jams at the beginning with the guitar your shipping. And then at the end for some send off jams!
You'd be wasting your time as the Chibsons aren't baritones, nor do they have the larger body. It might looks simlar, but wouldn't be anything like the real deal. You'd be better off just modifying an epiphone. Or, specify you want the body to be 1 inch wider and build with a 27" scale.
I really enjoy this kind of video but I have one complaint. In the gopro segment the audio is louder on the right ear than on the left. Could you maybe balance the audio in the future? I don't think this kind of video even needs stereo audio. Mono seems like less of a hassle to me.

Thanks Trogly, I really enjoyed this one too.
I guess it is kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new movies online ?
@Talon Andre I would suggest flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
Great insight on your thorough packing and shipping procedures!
I wish everyone packed up guitars as well as you do
actually I'm fascinated ...lots better than unpacking....

I love this style! Please do weekly videos of these!
You pack things well. Good video for people to see because most either go way overboard or not nearly enough when packing a guitar for shipment.
Nice information Trog! Thanks!
Make sure you use the right memory card for your GoPro. Then it should not overheat
Definitely like the packing videos too!! Keep the coming!! Thanks Trogly!
Unboxings - absolutely!
Packing - only if there's something new that you need to bring to the viewer's attention.
Very good idea with the unboxing videos,- i will watch them for sure.

I'm curious what guitars you keep. Do you have a collection you would never sell? I'm surprised you just don't keep a Buckethead for yourself.
Unrelated to the video ,but I'm surprised you don't dabble in PRS. You buy expensive enough Gibson's. Mccarty's seem like they would be up you ally.
PRS is awesome
PRS uses very nice woods and Paul is a great guy - I just don't like the shapes of those guitars
I sure hope 4bubble is giving you some free wrap and they can handle the ensuing demand for bubble wrap...
An excellent common sense video, I wish everyone packed there parcels like that.

Got a brand new 335 from gibson yesterday.... No protection AT ALL in the box... opened it up and what do you know? broken headstock.
I think it was probably the thumbnail that said “illegal” that got the views. But love the content either way!
I really enjoy this kind of video but I have one complaint. In the gopro segment the audio is louder on the right ear than on the left. Could you maybe balance the audio in the future? I don't think this kind of video even needs stereo audio. Mono seems like less of a hassle to me.

hi there:)
where did you find the box to put the guitar in? i cant find anywhere some
hey trogly it’s me again. Thanks a lot for responding to me about the sticker on the back of the squier. I just have a question for you. I'd go with F-Tone, better ring to it, music related, and easier to remember. Floritone sounds like toothpaste.
Senzeni thanks man
My tip : I write the initials of what's inside on the box, this way I don't mix them up and only me knows what's inside
