Nate Fox I can't do diddly squat, I don't know how you and Muselk do this stuff, but it's beyond me, although I want to be a great Rocket Jumper(or at lest half descent), I can't do anything, I'll just stick with Sniper.
if your hand doesn’t cramp, use ctrl. if it does, use Lshift. it depends on where you put your hands. use the key left-bottom to your left key. (ex, if your left key is A, use shift. i use Lshift.
it depends how you are starting it. assuming you are on a flat surface with nothing to walk off, you jump, then once you are falling and are halfway down to the ground, shoot your first rocket and hold down fire button. if you are going off a ledge, only shoot your first rocket when you are falling and are halfway to the ground. It could also be because you are gathering too much speed while still looking straight at the ground, try looking a few degrees further up and see if that makes a difference.
Thank you teacher. I will remember how to rocket jump And practice using it until I'm proficient, so that I can play better and get revenge on my friends who like to pick Demoman to beat me.😊
Hi, I've got a question about rocket jumping. I turned off mouse acceleration to be better as sniper. Is that good or bad for rocket jumping? And which mouse sensitivity is good for rocket jumping? I ask you because I think you're pretty damn good at rocket jumping.
No mouse acceleration is better for everything, lol. I would suggest just leaving it off. As for mouse sensitivity I think you should just use whatever you're comfortable with. Usually I just make sure I can do a 180 degree turn by the time my mouse reaches the end of my mousepad.
Something that also helps is having a high FOV, I recommend using around 90, since you can turn off mouse acceleration and have a lower sensitivity to maintain control and accuracy, but still have quick turning movements (plus the wider field of view is excellent)
Evan Lin it increases the distance your cursor moves if you move your mouse faster. It makes it near impossible to develop muscle memory for aiming, since the distance traveled is also dependent on the speed you move your mouse at.
@@deml8553 Technically because of the way the source engine treats strafing holding w actually prevents you from strafing side to side. Any sideways movement is a result of mouse movement and not actual strafing.
@@xavier1964 Very smart and all but the source engine treats the w and s key no differently to the a and d keys. Therefore you can simply turn your view 90 degrees to either the left or right and this allows you to strafe with w and s the same way as if you were strafing with a and d. Strafing with w allows you to keep your crosshair locked on to your target while you strafe so there is an advantage to it. Combining it with regular a and d strafing will put you at an advantage over people who can only a and d strafe. it is also possible to strafe while holding 2 keys such as w and a and you just have to turn your mouse 45 degrees but this is not very useful.
@@j-swag7438 What it does is it causes your momentum to be split between the directions. Because you get all the foreward momentum you need from the jump, you should only strafe using a and d.
The description on how to get unlimited ammo and Health is really bulky, there's an easy way to get health and ammo without having to download anything. Just type in this command into console; Bind "mouse1" "+attack; impulse 101" Every time you rocket jump you regain ammo and health instantly. If you like taking long leaps and take more than 200 damage, type in this command; Hurtme -9999999 You can change the number to whatever you like but it works. Hope I helped :) Edit: Also bear in mind that once you bind the key to heal and resupply you as well as still firing your gun normally, you never have to do this again. The only time it doesn't work is in Buddha mode and without sv_cheats 1.
Some people can't resist holding "W". Well here's a solution! LEARN how to surf. Since you can't never use "W" there. And if you use "W", you fail. And you will be disciplined to never use "W" again.

ImaGiNR oh yeah, we just focus on 'Not die'
Nate Fox I can't do diddly squat, I don't know how you and Muselk do this stuff, but it's beyond me, although I want to be a great Rocket Jumper(or at lest half descent), I can't do anything, I'll just stick with Sniper.
Man, I love rocket jumping! I used this mechanic in Quake to skip some traps and secrets, but I am still waiting for Rocket Jumper drop in TF2.

i failed on a jump academy map so many times that when i finally quit i actually felt WORSE at rocket jumping
I’m doing this for Rick May

Rest In Peace Rick May...
I've just read one comment and i saw what i was doing wrong, now i am ashamed of myself. It's the CS:GO Surfing incident all over again.
What's the best key to use for crouching when rocket jumping? Ctrl seems like the most inconvenient option.
if your hand doesn’t cramp, use ctrl. if it does, use Lshift. it depends on where you put your hands. use the key left-bottom to your left key. (ex, if your left key is A, use shift. i use Lshift.
i use shift to crouch
Rhigt shift would be worse
Use left shift, it's just the easiest crouch button in general.
Shift is the best
The wall jump in jumpacademy was the hardest thing i ever did and i succeed eventually
When I first started playing TF2, I just thought rocket jumping was just… looking down and shooting. This video helped me a lot, thank you.
How do you pogo? I can only do the initial jump, one pogo, then i land on the ground before my rocket can fire again.
it depends how you are starting it. assuming you are on a flat surface with nothing to walk off, you jump, then once you are falling and are halfway down to the ground, shoot your first rocket and hold down fire button. if you are going off a ledge, only shoot your first rocket when you are falling and are halfway to the ground. It could also be because you are gathering too much speed while still looking straight at the ground, try looking a few degrees further up and see if that makes a difference.
I would recommend using 'bind MOUSE1 "+attack; imulse 101"' , and using S to stop yourself midair.
For all who still want to use this, the console command is
bind mouse1 “+attack;impulse 101”

So, no W key while air strafing and do we press anything else when chaining jumps? (Like do we press space when we try to chain, crouch, or nothing?)
+Giancarlo Caballero Just keep crouching, it gives you more momentum off your jumps.
+Giancarlo Caballero Sorry for the late response. You only need to press crouch when chaining jumps.

Thank you teacher. I will remember how to rocket jump And practice using it until I'm proficient, so that I can play better and get revenge on my friends who like to pick Demoman to beat me.😊
Thank God I can finally jump high I lose my focus rocket jumping :P
I'll just stick to Borderlands rocket jumping! Lol

you will have to get weak damage rocket other wise the player will enter fight for your life
Borderlands rocket jumping is hard as hell.

It's been a while since I have rocket jumped in tf2 so I am trying to learn again this is really helpful!
Nate Fox Thank you! ;)
Something that also helps is having a high FOV, I recommend using around 90, since you can turn off mouse acceleration and have a lower sensitivity to maintain control and accuracy, but still have quick turning movements (plus the wider field of view is excellent)
why is turning off mouse acceleration good?
when I turn it off, my mouse cursor feels stiff
Evan Lin it increases the distance your cursor moves if you move your mouse faster. It makes it near impossible to develop muscle memory for aiming, since the distance traveled is also dependent on the speed you move your mouse at.
when i do the Pogo i want to move forward so should i keep holding "w"
the intro literally made my jaw drop, and he just drops it in the basic tutorial
It seems you need a lot more than this to rocket jump - nah, I just have a c**ppy mouse and no mousepad.
and no reaction speed :C
marinesciencedude crap isn't a swear kiddo
god damn its so h*rd to r*cket j*mp xddddd
actually I usually strafe with the w key when I'm trying to ambush someone higher than me.
If you are holding the w key, you aren't actually strafing.
@@xavier1964 if you're in the air you can strafe with W dude
As a scout main wanting to become a soldier main, this helped alot. Thanks.

The description on how to get unlimited ammo and Health is really bulky, there's an easy way to get health and ammo without having to download anything.
Just type in this command into console;
Bind "mouse1" "+attack; impulse 101"
Every time you rocket jump you regain ammo and health instantly. If you like taking long leaps and take more than 200 damage, type in this command;
Hurtme -9999999
You can change the number to whatever you like but it works. Hope I helped :)
Edit: Also bear in mind that once you bind the key to heal and resupply you as well as still firing your gun normally, you never have to do this again. The only time it doesn't work is in Buddha mode and without sv_cheats 1.
Thank you so so so much for making this, I've always sucked at rocket jumping but now I actually have a chance to become better at it
What have I done?
I typed in "warrior cat map"
And this pops up under related xD
welcome to tf2 enjoy your stay. May starclan guide you
Hey the link doesn't work anymore can you find another way?

dude. dont be stupid. make your own server, type in sv_cheats 1 in the console, then type in bind r "buddha"

Some people can't resist holding "W". Well here's a solution! LEARN how to surf. Since you can't never use "W" there. And if you use "W", you fail. And you will be disciplined to never use "W" again.
