    I had this exact same idea for my 392. I got all my parts in and will be tackling this job this weekend. I will also be doing the AAL fender chop lights but still wanted to keep the black trim and upper plastic. Thanks for posting. I know trying to make a video while working is a giant PIA!

    • @mybucketlist5940
      @mybucketlist5940  2 роки тому

      You are correct about the PIA for sure. Glad it helped, and Id be interested to see your finished product. Are you doing the fender chop because you are running larger tires? I think the gap with 33’s or even 35’s looks a bit too much. Good Luck this weekend and thanks for watching!

      @@mybucketlist5940 Yes, I'm running 37" KM3's on Dirty Life Canyon pro beadlocks and no lift currently. They do rub when articulating but it's mostly in the rear and you have to be on a fairly flexy trail to make it do it. I want to lift it a little but I do drive it fast on the highway and every little bit of "up" makes it even that more squirrely.

    Man I hope they have this issue resolved with the 2023 model. This looked to be an extreme pain in the ***, if you're not handy with any type of do it yourself install. Thx for the great effort in making this video. Praying my 2023 will NOT have this issue.

    • @mybucketlist5940
      @mybucketlist5940  2 роки тому

      I’m sure it was the engine heat, as I have heard several others having had the same issue. There is some heat shielding behind the plastic, but I’m sure not enough, and I was driving in a hot climate. You may or may not have the same issue, but the inner fenders I put on look great and function well. Good Luck and congrats on the purchase. It’s a great vehicle, it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! Thanks for watching.

    looks much better than the ones I've seen where the whole thing ripped out
    that's my hold back on changing the JL's fenders, will be losing my LED fender light and exposing the wiring area

    Great job, I wish you made a pattern of the plastic piece you cut off. You could sell them I know I would buy one. Would make the job you'd less intimidating.

      That would have been a good idea. It’s been a few years now since I did that and they are still holding up nicely. Hope you end up making it work. Thanks for watching.

    Awesome!!! I've had the same issue.. my inner fence warped and tore.. I cut it with a blade... Seeing what you did here is exactly what I need. Don't want to expose the upper fender well and expose in to sand / mud etc... thanks again! Gerry #reconjack392

    Just wanted to mention to you that it's "Diesel" or "392" that these ones are for. Not JT unless it's the Diesel model. Also thanks for the video. Because of watching yours I was able to tell that they assembled my brackets wrong.

    Really wish they offered an aluminum inner fender flare that covered all of the stock fender flare.

      I agree, I just don’t know who “they” would be to get them to do it. I also don’t know if there is a huge demand for them because I think most people may chop the fenders or put other after market fenders on . Maybe YOU are the “they” and should start producing them. Ill be your first customer! Thanks for watching.

      @@mybucketlist5940 think it would be easy enough I’ve seen people who cut and shape metal but idk if it’s an issue of the plastic flexing enough to get it to fit properly. Aluminum might be to tough to fit it if it was the same shape as the factory plastic ones.

    Any issue with the fenders connecting to both the frame and the body?
    About how long did it take to install? I am planning on removing the fender plastic.
    Thanks!

    • @mybucketlist5940
      @mybucketlist5940  11 місяців тому +1

      I didn’t have any issues installing to the Jeep at all. It’s pretty straightforward and not very difficult. But I made it a bit more difficult by keeping some of the plastic underneath the fender. They have performed well, I get minimum rubbing with 35 in tires and at extreme flex. I would guess about 90 min per side if you are removing the plastic. Good luck and thanks for watching.

    Nice install; hopefully someone will develop a complete solution to reduce the modification. I think you did a great job. I'm curious, would you mind sharing your gas mileage numbers for normal on road use? I know you don't get a 392 if you're too worried about mpg, but I'm still curious. Many thanks.

    • @mybucketlist5940
      @mybucketlist5940  2 роки тому

      I average roughly 15 mpg. If I’m hwy driving and not heavy on the go fast peddle then I have been over 16. If I’m on the trails or heavy on gas I’ve been below 13. Thanks for watching.

      @mybucketlist5940  2 роки тому +1

      @@terryduprie6313 you are correct. It is a heavy vehicle shaped like a brick with a big V8. Physics don’t align for great gas mileage😁

    • @VinmanTX
      @VinmanTX 2 роки тому

      My 392 is definitely a guzzler. Bad timing for this purchase as gas has now doubled. If you get into it at all, mileage plummets. Getting 13mpg on a tank is routine. Mileage at 11 happens now and then. But the sound and the response is so satisfying it makes it all worthwhile. I also drove it from CA to TX and got on avg 16.5 mpg for the entire trip (I babied it to see what I could get). I noticed the mileage was 17.5mpg at 65mph fwy speeds, but on freeway stretches with higher speed limits, the mileage definitely goes down at least a full point. No surprise, there are no aerodynamics on this thing. And no regrets, it's an amazing car. Also now a classic as you can no longer order the 392 option on the Jeep.

  • @AJ-cz6yh

    Do you know the color that they matched for the 392 or did you just have to tell them?

    • @mybucketlist5940
      @mybucketlist5940  Рік тому

      When I ordered the inner fenders, I told AAL that the accent color was the 392 Bronze. They knew the color and it wasn’t a problem.

    • @mybucketlist5940

      They are textured black. For reference they are basically the same color and texture that is on the stock steel bumpers or Rubicon rock rails. Thanks for watching.

    • @mybucketlist5940
      @mybucketlist5940  2 роки тому +1

      I really like the finished result and its holding up nicely. It wasn’t terrible, but one thing Id do differently is cut the plastic larger than I think, then fine trim it as needed. I also wouldn’t make a video… takes twice as long, and I hate talking on film… as you can tell from most of my videos! 🤷‍♂️ Thanks for watching.
