Ford Ranger Raptor Assault School: Ford Performance Racing
It was a fun couple of days attending the Ford Performance Racing school and attacking the Ranger Assault Course. From the introduction and the history of the Raptor concept from Ford, to the dinner and the training, it was all top notch. The instructors were great and I learned some good skills that definitely came in handy the following week on a road trip to the mountains of Colorado (video coming soon). The skills will translate nicely to my Jeep as well.
I am super impressed with what these truck are capable of. I thought we drove them hard, but to watch the instructors take them to the next level, I know that whatever I put my RR through, it’ll handle it just fine!

After a back order delay, I received my Gator EFX Hard Fold Tonneau Cover for the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor. What should have been a fairly easy install, ended up being a bit frustrating. realtruck.com/p/gator-efx-hard-fold-tonneau-cover/
Ford Ranger Raptor gets Amber Grille lights: Install

Braved the heat today to get these amber lights installed in my new 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor. I ordered these off of EBay. Although they didn’t come with any instructions, the install to the AUX 1 switch was pretty straight forward. Ford Ranger Raptor Quality Review and First Impression with some misses from Ford.
Переглядів 7 тис.Місяць тому
In this very amature and unprofessional video, I have less than 350 miles on the new Ford Ranger Raptor, and I just wanted to cover the process and time it took from a build date of 04/2024 to delivery. I also address some Quality Control issues that others have seen, and compare to what I experienced at delivery. I also cover some misses, in my opinion, from Ford.
Long Dong Silver: UTAH

Saw this oddity and had to go see it for myself. What a unique and eerie place, not a plant to be seen anywhere, and the color for as far as the eye could see was a consistent grey. So different than all the red rock areas nearby. definitely had that Star Wars vibe. Long Dong Silver was definitely worth the visit.

Jeep Wrangler 392 does the “Great Chamber’ Trail and Hike

Did an early morning drive and hike to the ‘Great Chamber’ aka ‘Cutler Point’. The trail is relatively easy with some deep sand and a couple of high clearance areas. 4WD definitely recommended. The hike up to the chamber is short but a bit steep in areas. Beautiful natural rock formation with a unique view. Worth the drive. Music Thanks to: Audiojungle.net MDStockSoundExclusive

Well done! I'm on my third week of ownership and looking forward to scheduling a trip out there as well... how would you rate the overall experience?
Edit: I think I have my answer after reading your description... cheers and nice work on the video
Lovely video, nicely put together!
Im also in market for a hard tonneau for my RR. Thx for your instsll video. However adter wstching you struggle with firment, i may look at other top brands. Cheers
Don’t you connect wire to battery at all
Not at all if you are using the factory installed AUX switches. All you have to do is install the power wire from the lights to the AUX switch you want to use, and the ground wire on to a ground point, and you are good to go. Jeep made it easy.
@@mybucketlist5940 How about my jeep Willys 2020 don’t have the AUX switch
Our favorite nighttime hide and seek spot.
That’s brave… but could be a fun idea. That would be a good idea for here in Utah at Goblin Valley.
On a scale from one to ten, how much nicer is the long hwy drive experience between your Ranger and your Wrangler? My Wrangler makes me cringe when thinking about hwy driving...
I agree totally. I just finished (yesterday) a 1027 mile road trip in the Ranger and it was much quieter, smoother and more comfortable than the Wrangler. But the wrangler isn’t built for comfort it’s built to get the chicks 😉. I love the wrangler, have had several of them, but long road trips are not its strong suit for sure. But when I’m headed to Moab and Colorado like I just did, I sure love having the wrangler when I get there!! But this Ranger did great on the trails we did during its maiden voyage. Video hopefully coming soon. Thanks for watching!
W videos uncle Dan
Moved office to a $40M building three years ago. On the surface, everything looks nice. Upon closer inspection, there are so many low quality details that I wonder how anyone looked at their work and said to themselves “This is definitely what my customer wants.” It’s like this everywhere. People don’t build things, they don’t craft them. They assemble parts. Materials keep get cheaper, and to keep costs low, so must labor get cheaper. The result is that labor is mostly unskilled now. Apart from inserting tab A into slot B they have no idea what they’re doing and no control over the final product even if they do. If you pay labor more, you cut down the costs through the materials. Now apply the formula to each supplier. This is why Ford builds $60k-$100k trucks with atrocious panel gaps and buggy electronics. We simply can’t or don’t want to pay for anyone to get things perfect.
Interesting sounds like there a very few minor control problems and I'm sure Ford will sort it out but I can say here in Australia as yet the Rangers so far have 99 percent perfection ive purchased the Ranger Wildtrack and its 100percent spot on
Im sure you are right about Ford sorting some things out… I’m not saying I don’t like the truck. In fact I just finished the Raptor Assault school yesterday and cannot say enough about how impressed I am with this truck. It truly is a fun truck to have, and now I just want to go full Baja mode on the city streets. I am really impressed how capable this truck is and what it can do. Thanks for watching.
Well I appreciate tour honest opinion
Nice install video. So if I understand correctly these are powered on by the switch panel in the headliner??? Are they always on ?
It only powers on with the truck running/ignition powered AND the Aux 1 switch on. You can toggle off and on as desired, or leave the switch on and the lights will come on and off with the truck. Hope that helps. thanks for watching.
Mine had 2 flaws. Right rear plastic fender flare had a deep cut in it. And the AC had "no refrigerent" according to the dealer. Will wait a couple weeks, if the AC stops working again, its clearly a LEAK. mine came with 41 miles.
Thats a first i have heard of the AC issue. 41 miles not too bad, was it on any sort of QC hold? When was your build date? delivery?
Ordered feb, built may. Sat there for who kniws what fuckin reason till last friday. So on the site it went from "in production" to "its at the dealer waiting for your stupid ass to pick up". Ford was completelly stonewalling me on answers. They acted like they had NO IDEA how their own system worked, and there was absolutelly no one in the chain if command anyone could call. It was just a nebulous system that simply "does what it does". Theres 2 people on the 6g forums that got raptors delivered with broken AC. They "fixed" it yesterday. Said there was no refrigerant in it, while similtaneously trying to tell an HVAC technician there was no leak. So when i said the only other possible answer is it never got filled from the factory. "Oh no, thats simply not possible". Oh ok bro, so its one or the other.
I have the same brand for my F150 Raptor but had little or no issues installing mines. It's a matter of deciphering the written instructions that are vague like sliding in the clamps on the rail but first removing the end cap; otherwise it's really nice and solid. We have a lot of rain and the scorching sun here in Floriday and to keep it from fading, spray and wipe it down with hybrid ceramic on a regular basis. I had it for about a year now and looks as if I installed yesterday.
Good advice, thanks. I watched several videos of Real Truck cover installs and none mentioned removing end caps. Thats one of the reasons I decided to make the video, I couldn’t find one for the new truck. Glad to hear you like yours. Thanks for watching
I bought the Ranger Raptor in Carbonized Gray a couple of months ago myself. Just added the BakFlip MX4 and put the drain hose through the punch outs like you did. Fits like a glove and no issues with the install. I do get a little water in the rear tailgate sides when I go through the car wash, but certainly not enough to worry about. Good luck with you RR and you Gator.
Thanks, I agree, I can clearly see that the cover wont be waterproof, especially with the gaps in the tailgate. I just wanted something to keep the golf clubs and other stuff out of view. Have fund with your RR, I really like mine so far. Attending Raptor Assault School this weekend to see what this thing can do.
Great video and thank you!
Hope it helped. Thanks for watching.

You don’t get the foot wells on the bottom side of the bed as standard equipment for the price of that truck ….?
Why are tail lamp lenses not clear …I love that the Ranger has Amber Turn lamps but you can’t see them on this truck??
Totally agree that they should have ventilated seats as an option or standard on their higher trim levels. Heads up display is something I'd also want and surprised it's not included with this Raptor. Other mid-size pickups have both as an options.
Did you dump the Jeep?

@@robertf3340 did you not like the Tremor? You’ve had a few vehicles as of late.. Still welcome to join, the Nissan would do great.
I was lucky…. I got rid of mine last week. It was not a quality build. The tech was glitching all over the place. The paint quality was awful The gaps in the truck body was crazy I could keep going but I’m not …..😂😅😂😅
Interesting, what did you get instead? So far i really enjoy mine, even with the few quirks. As of this writing i have just over 500 miles, I want to get to the break in mileage and change the oil, then really put it thru its paces. I also have the Raptor Assault course scheduled, so I’m looking forward to see what these trucks can do without beating up my own. Thanks for watching.
I just ordered a RR a few weeks ago from my local favorite dealership. No deposit needed, no dealership doc fees, no obligation to buy, and NO MARKUP! If I choose to not take delivery they will just sell it to the next person that walks in the door so it's a win-win for all. The one caveat is that I would be potentially be trading in my 2023 F150 Raptor. The RR, on the surface, seems to be a better fit for my life currently as the price point is much better (potentially up to $200 less per month in payment). I also live in a urban/suburban area in New England so the size appears refreshing...it will be nice to be able to drive into a touchless automated car wash again for a quick cleaning. I am also curious about the omission of the ventilated seats. Wondering if it is an engineering issue as you can't get them in the Bronco Raptor either and those approach $100K. My F150 has them. Comfort is an issue for me too. I'm 6'3" normal build. Most of the reviews I have seen are from folks that claim to be exactly 6' tall or below (I did find one where the dude said he was 6'4" and claimed to fit comfortably). I'm in no rush to get delivery. Regardless of what happens I will be still drive home from the dealership in a Raptor. Cheers
Sounds like you got a great deal. Im 6 foot and have plenty of room, I even raise the seat for a better driving position., with plenty of room to spare. The truck is very nimble, Id be interested to hear what your thoughts are going from a F150 Raptor to the RR. So far I really like the truck, even with a few quirks. Thanks for watching.
Nice that you got all those details down before making this useless video!
I am super sorry I wasted your time. I’ll try and do better in the future.
Mine doesn’t have the rattle or the unevenness over the infotainment, my tailgate gap is there but doesn’t seem as bad as yours, same with hood. Agree with you on ac seats and lack of storage. The controls are typical raptor across all of them. Only issue I have is my infotainment screen sometimes doesn’t boot and I have to restart the truck. Where did you get the red front tow hook red covers and center console tray? I love that grey, mine is black but it hides the agressive lines that show up nicely on your truck.
I haven’t seen any issues with the infotainment so far. One thing I have noticed as I drive it more, the plastic piece above the shift button (where my index finger would rest to push the button to shift) has a bit of a sharp edge. Nothing terrible, but since I rest my hand on the shifter as I drive I seem to focus on the sharp edge. Have to look at doing something about it. I got the tow hook covers from Amazon, had to trim off about 1/4 inch on the fronts, no issues on the rears. www.amazon.com/dp/B0D41MCC4M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Tray: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPJ6T829?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Over all I do really like the truck, I guess time will tell long term. Thanks for watching
People are so spoiled these days complaining about leather seats that are not cooled. They used to never be cooled even when it was a luxury vehicle. This is one of the reasons why I have never liked leather seats. Miss the days when you could chose leather or cloth seats at any trim level. These Days, leather is the only choice on higher trim levels.
The Colorado, Tacoma, and Frontier have cooled seats. So there’s absolutely no excuse from Ford here besides being stingy/cheap. North American versions of the Ranger don’t get direct air vents for rear passengers. Just a completely useless cubbyhole.
@Vito_Caligiuri - and there is no excuse for the Colorado not to have a power adjustable front passenger seat with height adjustment, no power sliding rear window, or fold down rear armrest with cloth seats. Plus, cloth seats don't need cooling. The Ranger does have rear vents. They are under the front seats. Though I do agree, the Ranger should have rear vents where the cubby whole is. But the Colorado only offers the extra power ports and LED head lights with Convenience Pkg III on the lower trim levels. While the Ranger offers LED head lights at all trim levels. So, there are mostly trade-offs depending on the options/packages/trim levels selected between the Colorado and Ranger. While Toyota has priced themselves out of competition against a comparably optioned Colorado or Ranger. I spent hours going comparing the trucks before I chose the Rangerr. So I know what I am talking about. I thought the options for the Colorado were needlessly complex and, in a few instances, rather gimmicky, such as the driver seat map pocket on the back of the front seat.
@@mikegrantham7440 below the seats, but not direct air vents. It’s not that big of a deal since it does cool down very quickly. But the cubbyhole is laughable. All in all, there’s really not much to complain about with the RRaptor. The cooled seats should be an option tho. I just looked it up, and the $100k Bronco Raptor doesn’t come with cooled seats either. THAT is unacceptable
Ford leading in recalls by a country mile
Just announced another one today on mustangs. 🤦♂️
Did u paint tow hooks on front?
No, they are covers I got off of Amazon. I put the link in a couple of other reply’s about them. I don’t have it with me at the moment, but I like them so far. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate videos like this because it reminds me why I do not buy first year models.
Eh i bought a 2023 bronco and the issues were never fixed…
I would agree with you 100 percent. This truck on the other hand has been out a couple years in different markets, and the engine has been used here in the US in the Bronco Raptor and the Explorer for a couple years. So I felt a bit more assured that this really wasn’t a first year model. Over all I really like the truck. Thanks for watching.
Give it five years before I’d get one of these but yeah very nice.
By then these will be a money pit
@@INNIMA why tf would they be a money pit? Lmao you don’t know wtf you’re talking about lol
My RR has a build date of 04/24 also and is still on a quality hold. I would not be happy with the tailgate gaps and the little humps in the orange part of the seats. Did you get mud flaps? Looks like there are on the front and not on the back. Great video by the way!
I actually ordered the front splash guards after confirmation that the truck was shipping. Had them delivered to the dealer and they agreed to install when the truck arrived. If you order them, they say “Redback Series” for the Raptor. I only got the front to protect my truck body and paint. Didn’t order or plan to put rears on, don’t like the look and the rocks coming off the rear tires keep people from following too close 😂. I have watched several videos and looked at other RR and it looks like the tailgate gaps are standard. I’ll say it’s to allow for movement when jumping the truck. 😂. Thanks for watching.
Still way better than my Toyota Hilux, rattles all over, squeeks, and tupperware interior. Everything just feels cheap and dated. Well done Ford, this is next level💪
As far as the QC holds, Ford's CEO ordered all newly refreshed models to get QC holds up to 6 weeks. This is in response to all the recalls Ford has been dealing with the last several years.
Yea, that’s why I believe this truck was on hold for a month. Over all so far at 400 miles I really do like the truck though. But I have found a couple more issues since making the video 🤦♂️
The tailgate gap is terrible. Ford your quality sucks. The seats the plastic to cover wires at the center of headliner. $60,000.00 plus truck that's so bad. DAMN FORD. You need to do better..
Nice RR, I order the same color, key pad and spray in bed liner. Congrat !
I like the color, it fits in well with the rest of the vehicles in our fleet. We seem to stay in the emotionless grey hues. 😁 I hope you enjoy your new truck as much as I do so far. Thanks for watching.
I love the tow hooks, where did you get them? Do they match the color in the seats?
They are close, but not an exact match. The are more red when held up to the orange seats. But outside the car, they look like a good match. Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B0D41MCC4M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Nice review! Where did you find the tow hook covers?
Just off of Amazon, recommended by another person. Front covers will have to be trimmed about 1/4 inch easily with a razor or scissors. Thanks for watching. Link: www.amazon.com/dp/B0D41MCC4M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Nice truck overall despite some issues, the grab handles and the gap in the tailgate are unfortunate though. Do other Rangers have the tailgate gap or is it just a QA issue on some?
The reason I looked closer a the tailgate gap was because others were reporting on it. I guess there is a kit to seal that up, but I don’t know why they dont from the factory. Id be interested if other model Rangers, Lariat, XLT, or foreign models also have it, or its just the Raptor to allow room to move when jumping it? 😆
My RR was blended o 05/07/2024, shipped on 05/19/2024 by rail. Expect delivery 05/28/2024 - 06/10/2024. Arrived to final rail yard - Reisor in Shreveport on 05/31/2024. Then delivery was changed to 06/17 to 06/24/ 2024, dealer gave me those dates. That came and went and no truck. I checked back on Line to see if it had changed, sure enough it change to 12/26-1969! Yes, you are reading it correctly, over 50 years ago. I have had no information about quality control or damage control. As of July 4; 2024 no new information. I think Ford could do a better job with communication, then again maybe they want to keep you in the dark like a mushroom!
You must be the same guy on the Ranger Forum that posted about your journey. I read your delivery date, and thought that you may have just proved that there is time travel. I was thinking the earlier builds may have the QC issues, but later builds, Ford would have them all correct at the factory prior to shipping. I guess not. Good luck and let us all know how it turns out.

How much was the windshield warranty you purchased? That sounds like a great idea
It’s was $599 through the Ford dealer and is with National Auto Care. Same company offering an extended warranty that I didn’t get.
Nice Review. I was able to fix the hood to fender gaps myself. The fender bolts are easily accessible when the hood is open. Only takes a few minutes.
Good to hear. Did you have any other QC issues? I have been trying to keep an eye out for what people are reporting and then checking on mine. Just today I did find some “foam” between the cab and the bed, that others have reported. I think it was just forgotten about when the dealer prepped it, but a lot of people are reporting on it.
