    Great step-by-step. Just what I was looking for: a tutorial on how to cover up the exposed areas after the DV-8s are installed by using the factory liners when you are keeping the factory wide flares. Thank you so much for laying it all out, showing us how to.

    That little groove they cut out for the wires, the everything that can go wrong will go wrong in me says to cut a little piece of tube and fit over that so the wires have a nice soft plastic/rubber to rest on. Vibration is a hell of a thing, maybe not this year, maybe not in three... but eventually...

    When the inner liner is removed, is it attached on the outside with those little rivet head looking clips, not sure what those are called or can you pry around those? I know the bigger clips are the Christmas tree ones.
    I'm referring to the ones on the outside of the flare that run up and down the liner, small head ones. Thank you.

  • @JacobWinkle

    It looks a lot nicer when you cut out the inner fender liner back on to cover up the paint. My only thing is I think that the DVA inner fender liner would annoy me. Just because its metal and if you hit a gravel road, you are going to hear every rock come flying hitting those DVA inner fender liners and peppering it. Soon after they will look all beat up and chipping. With the plastic fender liners you don't have to worry about that and plastic will dampen the sound of flying rocks stuck in your tread.

    5:48 Notice that rattle noise when he taps it?? That is because the other sides Logo design is vibrating metal to metal. Best thing to do before hand, is to take it apart & add a little line of black silly-cone to the back of the logo & reattach it. That way you don't have to hear rattle noises later while driving the jeep.

    First usefull mods should be changing tire on Coopers ST/Maxx much more usefull open tread tire and quieter on road. And you should paint those inner fender liners using some urethane bedliner like Cobra or Raptor to prevent annoying sounds from stones and making them last longer.

  • @EyebrowsMahoney
    @EyebrowsMahoney 5 років тому +1

    Gonna be honest, these inner fenders aren't really an upgrade. You're paying an insane premium for aethetics. Not only are they gonna allow more mud to cake up in the places they don't cover, the mesh is gonna allow the mud to cake up and get everywhere it normally wouldn't. They're also gonna rattle and make lots of noise in the gravel and whatnot unless you deaden them which you really can't with the mesh... and even worse, they'll start to add rattles to your ride. 400 bucks for something to do an even worse job of its intended job... I drive an old Cherokee so I have rattles galore, but some folks get irritated with it.

    • @scottwest5013

      Pretty sure he doesnt pay for many parts as most are more than likely sponsored

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 5 років тому +1

      @@scottwest5013 I'm well aware that this is certainly likely sponsored. That's not the point of my comment. Rather, in the off chance DV8 is paying attention to customer and potential customer feedback (which is unlikely - but whatever) that they get it. I understand that the noise of metal inner fenders is paltry to the destruction that plastic flares will see in motorsport applications such as rally racing. I also concede that these may add additional fender clearance for larger tires. I don't have a JL, so I can't confirm this. But the main aspect as to why I and many others wouldn't consider them is they negate the point of even having them by having that mesh/holes drilled in them. Why even bother with them if you're going to just accumulate mud behind them? Gravel/pebbles will likely find its way back there too and you'll end up having to clean them out every so often. Why would I pay 380 dollars for something I might as well leave off? They claim it's to give better airflow in there, but I don't see my washer fluid reservoir needing cooling. There are cheaper options that prevent excessive collection of mud and water from your tires in your engine bay. Let alone better ways to allow airflow without allowing excessive mud, water, and small rocks into your engine bay. Louvers are a thing ya know?

    • @EyebrowsMahoney
      @EyebrowsMahoney 5 років тому

      @@scottwest5013 Not to mention there are other options out there that are significantly cheaper with arguably more material...
      I'll also concede this. It looks cool, but it's not my cup of tea. I prefer more functionality than aesthetics. I'm not keen to spend on aesthetics. I would spend more for functional things rather than paltry baubles and trinkets for the sake of looking cool... I'm clearly not their customer.
