John, your suggestion to break the touch barrier early is spot-on! Give her a hug as soon as you meet her.
Here is a suggestion; no lunch dates. Meet for a drink after dinner.
Buy the first round with cash. Do not open a tab. Have a conversation.
You will both finish the first drink at about the same time.
Here comes the most important part. Do not order another round!
If she likes you, she will buy the second round! If she doesn’t like you,
she will say it was nice meeting you, but I have to wake up early or something
like that. Also, if you’re not into her, you can say it was nice to meet her and
you end the date. This is an easy way to know quickly if there is chemistry or not
and minimizes awkward endings to the date.

John, first off, I love your channel, thanks for all you do. I've gone down the style rabbithole on UA-cam and you are one of the few who don't come across as pretensious at times. I mean that as the highest of compliments.
Secondly, I'm about a foot taller than you (6'8") and would LOVE if you could make a video geared for us tall thin guys. For example I know not to wear vertical striped shirts as that makes me look even taller. Not going to be dating anytime soon (last date was over 8 years ago) and have concluded that relationships are not for me.

I hear ya. My last date and girlfriend was a decade ago. Major elder-care responsibilities to my now late parents had to become the priority and the life goals of my ex and I were going in opposite directions anyway. Plus I've noticed that females these days are just not into a traditional, old fashioned, older black gentleman like myself.
@@michaeldavis2039 My life, in parts, summarised. Anyway, if they're that fussy, they're not worth it. I find the integration the hardest because my hobbies / interests are time-consuming and require a high level of commitment, to the point of having to be selfish and saying "no" to a lot of things. Good luck finding a gap ladies, especially at the weekends.

I'm with you, Sir. I have zero interest in dating or relationships. I'm so busy enjoying things in my life ( hobbies, travel, business, projects, my kids) that I just can't be bothered to jump through hoops to make a lady vibe with me. All great tips John. I'm naturally introverted and my go to date place is the art museum. Get to show her your favorite pieces and have a great conversation at the same time. Also, a great way to to touch to her and point out something in the art. I live in a big city, so I use Uber, what are your thoughts on this?

If your date let's you pick her up and your driving, be a gentleman, open the door, and her guide her in by touching the small of her back.
That breaks the touch barrier very early and makes it natural.
If you have a center console, rest your arm there while driving. If she feels comfortable, or likes you, she'll touch your arm on the way to your destination.
Or, the best situation I had, when there was instant chemistry, she held my hand while driving. That was the start of the best 3 month dating round I've ever experienced.
I had 2 dates in the same week with 2 different girls. The 1st date left her (black) bra in the passenger door storage area, the car had a black interior so I didn’t notice it. The 2nd girl did.
Always bring a mix of cash.
If she is a nut job, you can throw down $20 and walk out.

Dating isn't my cup of tea, but I believe the first date shouldn't be anything more than a drink( one drink), a coffee, or some simple activity like meet up in the park, a round of mini golf, or hangout at a museum/ at gallery. Many entitled ladies today will push back against these. That's a red flag. Run.
I was a disaster in school so I learned from my mistakes
After my divorce I had a first date that went well. I didn't make a plan for a 2nd date. I asked her to choose from a bunch of options. She ghosted me, lol.
Here's a hint about the car - avoid the "pine tree" air fresheners and buy a spray bottle of "new car smell" at an auto parts store. I give my car a lttle shot of it every time I go somewhere. I don't know about anyone else but I sure like my car better that way.
In this dating world so many woman play the field more than any man I know. Not all, but many want free, free and free. Go for a drink and if it appears to be going well-extend the date and grab an appetizer or dinner. Never commit up front for more than a drink. And where I live-you don’t really want the woman in your car. If you drive a nice car-many assume you are well off and they view you as $$.
A friend got a date with a wonderful lady; she was definitely interested but everything turn off when she found a ladies underwear in the glove compartment. 🤤

Touch tip: Grow stubble for a day or two before. Then, on the date, hold her hand, and bring it up to your face and gently brush the back of it over your cheek. Smile/wink. She will smile and love it. Most women love stubble and it feels even better than it looks.
