This Love is probably my favorite Pantera song that isn't on Cowboys From Hell, because picking CFH songs is cheating. Like this song, This Love is Pantera's idea of a soft song and it's still ridiculously heavy lol. It almost gets harder when they try to be soft.
My brother in Christ, King, Legend You deserve so much more on your head than those Turtle Beach headphones. Phil's from New Orleans. He's probably been to a cookout or two. The thing about us metal singers from New Orleans is that we took it ALL in coming up. All the local stuff. King Floyd, The Meters, Neville Brothers, etc. Then all the classic rock, soul, R&B, Motown, etc. plays into it also. It's all in there in one big gumbo of influence.
I hope one day I am 80 and watching people experience the beautiful work of my brother from another mother Dime! He was such an inspired guitarist. He could play anything. I miss how we would always randomly run into each other around DFW and he always had a laugh when he would see me. So many nights cracking each other up. He was as genuine as they come.
Well done. Im a 59yr old hard core metalhead I wish you would have had the chance to see them live in the 80's. I was in the military stationed in San Antonio and saw Pantera at least 7-8 times in my 4 years there. Dimebags precision would take your breath away. The heavy bass especially when you stood close to the front would enter your chest. You could feel it travel through your body and exit your spine. They were Metal Power Personified.
I got you rob. So while Dime is going "weeee" on his guitar, Rex is on bass making the "dundundundun duuuh dunduuh duuh duuh". He's doing a classic blues style bass line, keeping beat with the drums while staying with in the main cords the guitar is using to harmonize on the low end.
I love that you happen to react to all my fav stuff. From the kendrick drake diss to pantera. How can i not love this channel?!😂😂 Btw phil anselmos voice in this song is so perfect and beautiful i never get over it.
This is by far my favorite Pantera song, part of it is the singing, it is great to see the range of the singer as opposed to just that thrash metal scream voice that a lot of guys don't deviate from. This song is just raw emotion as well, to anyone that has lost someone important to them this song brings you right back to that but also reminds you that you have to go on.
Panteras song library is so tight 5 albums of pure fire. It's not one of their hits but "A new level" is an adrenaline rush with a lightning fast solo and one of the hardest riffs ever, Dimebag was a wizard.
I have listened to a lot of rock and metal but always avoided pantera for some reason. We are finally discovering music together and that's pretty amazing! Thank you
This music has, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful guitar solos of metal music... Now you must run into I'm Broken and 5 Minutes Alone... But their whole discography is worthy of attention...
Dime died on my 12th bday. I got into metal was 9 and Pantera was one of my favorite bands at the time. I'll never forget hearing the news when i got home from school the next day. This song always reminds me of that day. It legitimately sounds like the guitar is crying
Well said. I remember his passing and it hurting my soul to the core. Like I lost a friend. I wrote a article at my high school in history class for a "current events" presentation about that day. One of the only times I stood up in front of the class to speak because I felt I had to in honor of one of the best guitarist to ever grace our ears.
It was on the soundtrack to a 90s horror movie called "Tales from the Crypt" with a ghoul puppet as the introductory presenter. They did a series of three full movies and 93 episodes of a TV series.
I've seen them twice, back in the day. It was like being beaten up by brutal and incredible sound! They set the bar for raw heaviness. I'm Broken by Pantera is absolutely immense. You'll absolutely lose your shit at that! Great work brother!
The guitar at the end is the "back up singer." There are so many elements in this song which make it great. The sad lyrics of a man left at the cemetary gates by a lover going to the afterlife. He can't get her out of his mind.
This is about trying to be strong and tough in the midst of a painful loss and then braking down to see how fragile we are. Also about wanting to die with lost loved ones because you miss them so much you don´t maybe want to go on. I did the same thing after my father died I tried to remain tough but it all came crashing down. To mourn and cry is more masculine/healthier, than beating trees until the bark comes off and blood is all over your hands which I did. Let the sorrow/pain come out people there´s no shame in feeling sad or crying when necessary. Talk to your friends and family and pray, don´t suffer in silence. God Bless!
that was some fine headbanging Rob, and also thats a damn fine song. I don recall if you have already recated to ACDC, but Thunderstruck and T.N.T. you can catch both songs in a Live at River plate version.
