- I told my friends/co-workers that "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic At the Disco is one of the best white boy songs I've ever heard. Now they're sending me song suggestions and I'm doing live reactions here, on the Trying White Music series lmao

Bro I'm telling you domination live in Moscow. It is one of the most intense things you're ever going to see. I ain't lying to you man. And neither is anybody else who told you. It is what a live band is supposed to look like. I think it's a top five live performance of any band in any genre ever.
Couldn't agree more, its one of the best live performances in all metal
He already seen it.
Go check out his reaction video to it
This is true
Amen. This. All of this. Can't recommend that video enough.
Cemetery gates by pantera is by far the best vocally
vocals on cemetery gates is crazy.
I prefer the live version, but it has to be what BIG Hollywood Rob checks out next!
Cemetary Gates is amazing. And definitely one of the best examples of how talented of a singer Phil Anselmo is.
Shattered actually has Phil’s best vocals
Plus that guitar riff into the chorus is just epic af to me.
Also 5 minutes alone is a bomb track
Cemetery Gates is a must listen.
Floods is a good one.
Pantera are the most badass metal band to have ever existed. These dudes go hard as a motherfucker at all times, and basically created groove in metal.
Long live Pantera.
Vinnie and Dimebag’s chemistry is hard to match now! R.I.P. 🤘🏾
I can't stand they're touring as Pantara when their heart AND soul are gone and can't be replaced... it's so money driven and silly, disrespectful
Charlie and Zakk do them justice. They are performing as a tribute. The abbott family are getting paid also. It about seeing this music performed live! Haters gonna hate I guess. Zakk and Dime were close friends. Total respect for these guys@@chrisw3421
We got Cavalera
@@chrisw3421most of the money is going to dime and Vinnie's estates, and they literally came out and said they wouldn't tour without the families consent. So I don't know where you're getting the disrespectful part from, but I agree the heart of the band will never be there. They're jamming up above, happy to be remembered after all this time.
@supahfly2106 that's a nice gesture but the 2 KEY members, in my opinion, are gone and with them the soul of the band.. it will never be the same.
Tight bands usually disband after a tragic loss... this band had 2 and they still use the name... it's strictly for money(some call it greed) They are a completely different band and should be touring under another name, make their own money (we both know they're not touring for free so they can donate all the money).
Mr. Ross at the Pantera show: "Yeah, this is just fantastic. Wonderful energy. I'm so glad I came to the show."
PS Pantera is the only band that can come out and say we are the kings of metal and nobody is going to say nuthin. They were was an enigma.
They were ready to bust anyone it the mouff(mouth) and tell them to Walk 😂🤣
Manowar might disagree
@@jlwendt282 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
…Sabbath…
@GraveSource ahh I was waiting😁🙏....... to which I will reply, we are speaking about Kings here .... not Gods.
Rex Brown---underrated and total🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥(bassist)
as far as the politics as stuff...I've listened to a $h** load of hip hop over the years, and I realize that I might not be totally accepted in those circles, but I can live with that---I'm still riding with the fellas that I love...
I really struggled with math as a kid. Mr. Ross got me through it and changed my way of looking at math.
Best comment ❤
When Pantera first started, they were a glam metal band. You know, like Motley Crue, Skid Row, Aerosmith, Twisted Sister, Winger, etc. But they quickly realized they didn't want to be another one of the many many Glam bands and wanted to be different. So they switched to straight up, kick ass metal. So glad they changed! 😁 R.I.P. Dimebag and Vinnie Paul. 😢
yes, those pre-Phil albums are bangers in thier own right.
I was a teenager in texas when this came out. You couldn't tell us shit. When this was playing we wanted all the smoke 😊
so... i was randomly browsing on youtube, and i stumble on the one and only RobTV? THE RobTV from the FGC? Listening to Pantera? God damn!!!
Boy Rex's bass was SHINING in this one!!!!!🤘🤘
wait until you hear “5 minutes Aline” and “I’m Broken”.
Saw this era when i was eleven. The amount of 40yo tits i saw was life changing. Caught a guitar pick and almost a beer from Dime.
I had a fantasy to buy an old used stars and bars dime guitar and make a video of painting something ridiculous it to piss off some knuckle draggers. I learned so much from dimes playing and thought the rage would be hilariously entertainning.
Their song Fucking Hostile was the theme song for Headbangers Ball on MTV in the 90s.
Definitely recommend checking out the live version of Domination from Moscow 1991 on your own time, there are over 1 million people in that crowd, craziest shit ever.
That and the Metallica performance in Russia are absolutely nuts, a crowd of people literally larger than the orc armies in lord of the rings lol.
The audio on this is pretty rough but glad you like the song.
...maybe re-listen with the studio recording sometime.
Skid Row - MoBands/Songs that you should check out:

Eagles - Hotel California
Pink Floyd - Money

I love watching your excited reactions to some of the music that blew up when I was just reaching my mid teens, and it reminds me of how the shit blew my mind when I first heard these songs too. Thanks for making such awesome videos man.
Dude you get it . Awesome reaction🤘👍
Ozzfest 2000 in San Bernardino, CA and I was there!! Remember it like it was yesterday
Phil was out of shape here and his voice was affected drastically. Check out the studio version. It goes so hard.
I think he was suffering from chronic back pain which limited him a lot.
100000 percent
He was three sheets to the wind and higher than hell, but he was untouchable here. I don't think too many people would have questioned his fitness to his face in 2000. :D
Heroin & wild turkey also being contributors
Rob.. if you haven't seen it.. you NEED to watch Domination Live in Moscow. It perfectly captures the energy of a Pantera show!! These guys were my first concert ever.. it was most brutal fucking displays of musicianship I've ever witnessed in my entire life.
This might be an obscure request, but when you said you wanna listen to more live shit, I immediately thought of 'Slave' by Leprous live. Damn good song with some AMAZING vocals.
Love your reaction! You crack me up!
If you like this I KNOW you listened to the studio recording...back when it was fresh .... Man....this is a hard band to be live for so long...even for them...but if anyone could...
.....you HAVE to hear the original.
So much respect for pulling up the live...
MUCH LOVE....now go EnJoy your best self ever when you hear the real deal..!
I peed my pants!!!! Imagine "Mr Ross" coming across your video 🤣😂
Phil was bombed in this show.
"this" show? lol
@@christophermastrocola3048 the truth is strong and heavy.
For sure .
nah he low key sober but after the show different story though ;)
Yeah he seems like a disaster of a human being
I'm glad that you enjoy Pantera's music. Your energy is great. I definitely recommend "I'm Broken " and "5 minutes Alone". I guarantee that you'll love those songs
I saw them live in '96. I went to see white Zombie, who I was a huge fan of, the next day I was buying the Pantera albums. They were absolute beasts live!
Love the reaction man!
I can imagine the mosh pit at that concert. I was at ozfest in Phoenix that year and you bet you ass I was in it. Seriously I love these guys. I've seen them 4 times most recently in September with metallica. So much fun in concert. And yes every woman had a huge crush on phil and his voice is amazing just wait until you hear him sing cemetery gates. The song itself is softer but you really get to hear his vocal range. Love your reactions.
Watching your reactions are getting me hyped for pantera again. 💯🤘
Hey @RobTV. Recently CJ Snare of the band Firehouse passed away. On April 5th 2024. Would you please react to some Firehouse. In case you have done some music by them here are 4-5 songs that your audience would appreciate. Love of a Lifetime, All She Wrote, When I Look Into Your Eyes, and Don't Treat Me Bad. Thanks so much, the world lost a great voice, genuine man, and a pure soul on April 5th.
Pantera is from Arlington, Texas. The song "Cowboys From Hell" is supposed to show Texas does live heavy metal. Dimebag the fantastic guitarist and the drummer Vinnie Paul are brothers and sadly both have passed on.
Watch live in moscow 1991. It's filmed really well. Thank you for excusing the confederate flag. Dimebag was the nicest guy ever. That guitar brought some heat toward pantera for being racist. They never were. Like most who know history, it was a symbol of rebellion against tyranny, not a symbol of support for slavery or racism. I'm a fucking yankee and know that. Thank you for taking the music for what it is. They were great and still are. Zakk Wylde has filled Dimebag's spot. Forgive me, but i dont know the drummer who is now filling in for Vinnie Paul (Dimebag's brother). RIP Dime and Vinnie.
Believe it's Charlie Benante (drummer for Anthrax the past 40 years)
I just found you because you are reacting to some of my favorites!!!
Found your channel a few weeks ago, I too came from a hip hop/ rap r&b and oldies background. Ima full on trash metal fan now. Here in Cali we have a festival that comes each year in Sacramento, Aftershock the reunion of panthera will be there with Zack wild on guitar. No one can ever cover dimebag but it’s the closest you get to the original band. If you want to fully explore this genre of music I recommend hitting aftershock.
Wow he's vocals sounds waaay better than on the studio version. I had no idea he used to growl like that. The album version is much more tamed.
You my friend have the best reactions to metal music out of every other mother fucker posting reactions on UA-cam, I love it that you love it 😎🤘
"Zakk wylde lead guitar" on the beginning just catch me kkkkkkkkkkkkk lol godamnn
Oh, yeah. Watch Yesterday Don't Mean Shit at this same gig (ozzfest 2000). Or The Art Of Shredding at Foundations Forum.
You would be welcome in that crowd and any metal concert. If you are vibing it people will be happy you are there.
you gotta listen to the regular version of this, its way better. singer is blasted out of his mind here lol
The Abbott brothers loved all fans and were genuine human beings 👑
I love the live version of "Cemetery Gates" but the studio version shows Phil's range for sure. Still heer fa BIG Hollywood reactions!!😝
Phil's best drunk POS bust still crushing it somehow era.....what a great show. If you want one of their heaviest tracks "Shedding SKin" from Far Beyond Driven....it's one of their most underrated songs ever.
You'll probably like their song "5 minutes alone." Also, "Floods" is maybe less up your alley, but the solos might be worth it for you.
Here’s a crazy fact for you, the album Far Beyond Driven by Pantera went #1 on the Billboard charts and went certified gold within two months of its release all with very little to no radio play whatsoever.
As much as I love to shred with Pantera my favorite song of theirs is still Cemetery Gates, it might be the best solo Dimebag ever put together as well. Cowboys From Hell is pretty much their signature song though and it is a great signature.
5 Minutes Alone!!! That is your next Pantera song. I’ll be waiting….
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Almost anything from the Iron Maiden Discography is gold. I'd say Rime of the Ancient Mariner, but that's a long ass song. It would be a half hour video.
They’re a bit boring except for the trooper
@@Spark_Chaser that's my favorite. It's a niche song for sure if you're not into metal though
@@drankFoD everyone's entitled to their opinion. I think they rock and Bruce is a killer with the vocals
One of the best metal songs ever written
That’s so wild that there’s people out there that have never heard this album before or had the pleasure of experiencing the home videos or listening to 101 proof all the way though haha 😂
I gotta say I do love seeing different people and cultures enjoying Pantera. If this shit can’t get you hype, there’s something missing in you
If you’re gonna continue down, the Pantera pathway, got a hit I’m broken mouth for war, five minutes, alone becoming, revolution is my name, yesterday, don’t mean shit, this love, a new level, maybe drag the waters. In that order.
Yes all of them. Please
A NEW LEVELLLL !!!!!!!!!! Ah man love this shit , Rise is fire , Walk fuck fuck it its ALL FIRE !!!!!!!!!! The fucking one band I did not get to see live . 😢
Also suggest Skid Row with Rob Halford singing Delivering the Goods on MTV for another live performance worth watching.
Pantera's the definition of Groove Metal. ❤ Thanks for having an open mind to check out different genres of music.
5 MINUTES ALONE!!!! Heaviest Pantera song. Once the breakdown hits you will lose your mind
Love the jazzy blues chords they throw in at the end
You might already know this but if you’re a wrestling fan, Rob Van Dam used “Walk” as his entrance music in ECW
Some dope ass deeper cuts FLOODS, A NEW LEVEL, HOLLOW, BY DEMONS BE DRIVEN, 10’s, PLANET CARAVAN, SLAUGHTERED, GODDAMN ELECTRIC ⚡️ plus all the hits!
They opened every show in the 21st century by saying "We are the Kings of Metal" than they would launch into a brand new song.
Everyone is gonna request the same 3 or 4 songs so check this out.....
When you do 'Cemetery Gates' make sure its the 7 minute song (not the 5 minute music video). Everyone gets it wrong then the fans complain.... so....i helped ya out.
When you do a live song from Moscow in 1991.... try PRIMAL CONCRETE SLEDGE. Everyone will ask for 'Domination' but Primal Concrete Sledge is equally great and has *hardly any reactions.*
Finally since you like LIVE Pantera, check out their GOLD certified *LIVE 101 PROOF* album. Again, because most Pantera fans ask for the same 3 or 4 songs...this always gets overlooked. Check out DOM/HOLLOW from their live 101 proof album. Its two songs cut in half & put together to make one new killer track. This is how they actually performed Domination for the majority of their career.
Also try some other tracks from their GREATEST HITS album that are criminally overlooked...
Ill cast a shadow
Goddamn electric
Immortally insane
As a small child my first love in music was Bone Thugs N Harmony. Their style and rapping was so real and dark as fuck. At some point I felt they left their original sound and kind of stopped listening to music altogether. Then I got exposed to metal at the local skatepark. First Korn. Then Slipknot. Both bands changed my life. Then I was exposed to Pantera and Slayer. From then on my life was never the same. I appreciate your love for the sound that you are hearing. Although quite different, metal and rap have a similar attitude. Fuck everything and have a good time and roll or get rolled over!
The track you’re talking about where it might be the bassist, is actually the techs playing an audio track in the back just to start off then the rest is dime
i was at nashville 2000 saw em live. it was epic. ozzfest. disturbed was brand new on 2nd stage. unreal festival
Heaviest band to go #1 on the Billboard - without media hype to boot.
forever stronger than all
This isn’t the best live version of this song, but it’s still 🔥
Keep the Pantera Rollin! Check out their song By Demons Be Driven
Cowboys has from hell is one of my favorite guitar riffs ever. And it's one of my two favorite Pantera songs. I adore this song and 5 minutes alone.
Saw them live last summer, they still FIRE!!!!!!!
If we're gonna continue on the Pantera journey, I'd say Cemetery Gates is probably the next logical progression. It's a completely different end of their spectrum, but just as sick.
I saw them on this tour in atlanta at lakewood amphitheater. There was a huge fire in the lawn with massive mosh pit circling it. It was wild.
Understand, when this album came out in like 1989-ish..... They called Poison "metal"
These cats changed the game.
Damn near invented "the breakdown"
And I'm a hip hop dude from Atlantic City.
Pantera is one of the best ever!!!!
There was a short period that they were absolutely on top before dimebag got shot on stage and died. Also, you should listen Cemetery Gates to round out Panteras trifecta of legendary singles.
Im sure someone has already mentioned it, but Domination Live From Moscow is a must watch. The crowd is insane for that show
The guy at 9:23 Nah, totally a bank manager. lmao. Maybe a doorman. :)
They are the Kings of Metal 💪🏻
looking forward to the inevitable '5 minutes alone' and ' a new level' reactions :D
I love this live Concert but you should've done the Studio version man
Just listened to the greatest guitarist to have lived, Rip Dimebag and Vinnie \m/\m/
You have to do yourself a favor and listen to Cemetery Gates by Pantera. Not only my favorite Pantera song, but my favorite metal song - period! Dimebag's guitar solo is the absolute shit, and Phil's vocals are superb. Guarantee you will want this gem on your personal playlist. I enjoy watching your appreciation for, and enjoyment of this music. Pantera's hard working, super talented members made this band epic. Their fans loved them hard and miss them deeply. RIP Dime and Vinnie.
You won't ever regret trying my favorite Pantera song - I'm Broken.
Welcome to the PanterA family Rob! Getcha Pull
Try some Soundgarden - Chris Cornell got the best rock voice ever heard.
Also, started watching these vids (with Killing in the Name) like 2 nights ago. My bros watching them too. We’re from Chicago, upper midwest and are 40-45 years old. What you’ve been sampling here is our wheelhouse. After watching like 10 of your reviews, it’s dawned on me: you don’t necessarily like white people music, you like metal. Straight up you like metal (and Billy Joel). Bravo dude. This series nice.
I used to snowboard to this song all day. Lmfao. Gold.
That guitar was just a symbol of the south back then… guarantee they would have allowed you up on the stage to be their hype man with your energy!!!
Hey man, represent the ladies in this series! You’ll love Jinjer, try Pisces or Vortex
Love how Rex tosses his pick n starts playing w his fingers during the solo
you hear KISS yet? Exciter, Magic touch, young n wasted SOUNDGARDEN? Outshined, Limo wreck, Tighter n tighter, Flower, Holy water n so on .. STEELY DAN? Peg, Black cow, Sign in stranger, Black Friday, Deacon blues, Royal scam etc etc etc ALICE N CHAINS? Bleed the freak, Frogs, God am, Hollow (also Hollow by A PERFECT CIRCLE)
"Van Halen!"🔥
I'm broken is a phenomenal song to check out🤘🤘
Bro you gotta check out pantera "yesterday don't mean shit" live at ozzfest 2000. New subscriber here man, definitely loving your reactions to the heavy metal i grew up listening to pantera is my absolute 100% favorite metal band 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Check out the music video for their song "Mouth For War"
If nobody has mentioned megadeth to you I suggest checking out the song
hangar 18 it’s a good into to what the band is all about.
I feel like the reason black folk be liking pantera, to the point that they often look past Phil's racism, is that Pantera understood that groove. It's like that behind the beat shuffle that birthed out of black music and blues.
9:37 he is just in awe of the dime.
So cool that "Walk" is the one that got you hooked...
...it feels almost like an #EternalQuestion...what song got you into Pantera...!LOL!
I got mine w/"five min alone",
then i got to dig even deeper..,
you can imagine..!..!!..!!!
3:51 It was in a spirit of rebellion not racism, specifically from Dime. Phil has put his foot in his mouth and had to own it on multiple occasions, but he also is the only opioid abuser in the band. Darrell and Vinny loved everybody.
Rob, You have to do 'Down - Bury Me in Smoke' at some point!
