do you have to have gravel on top of the substrate? also if don't have gravel how would you clean substrate with syphon, cause carnt stick it in substrate like gravel . ps i am new so i do apologise

To gravel vacuum this type of substrate you hover over it, not touching it just glide over it and pick up all dirt and wast sitting on the top of the substrate

@@the_animal_ark whoops a year later lol but gravel on top is always better it stops the water getting murky and also stops the nutrients leak into the water column
