Want to see us take this bike for a multi-day adventure ride? We've got you covered: ua-cam.com/video/gr__USLnpbs/v-deo.html
Under 5k they say…. It’s a big point in the video, but what bike do they show? Of course, the most expensive CF LTD costing £7649 🤦🏼♂️ Always riding and showing the most expensive models whilst talking about the starting prices of a bike, so frustrating. Just ride the entry level and tell us what it’s like!
Seeing as how they are sponsored by Canyon it’s a sure bet that the entry level model would receive a totally impartial and fair review… this channel, as most now on UA-cam is no longer a community channel but just another form of advertising for certain brands. If you want to know what good or not, youve unfortunately got to test it yourself!
@@asifitmatters1very true! It’s. It just this channel though, several videos have appeared in my feed today for this bike and not a single one are testing/showing the entry level sub 5k model. Even the GMBN video of Blake and Neil in Wales has them riding the 2nd highest model in the lineup! Oh well, I’ll find it somewhere and check it out myself!
AND, You forgot something ! the bike under 5k is NOT 19kg (20,3)
The video literally calls itself an "ad" on the thumbnail
@@flybyguy1450 and that’s what makes them so sneaky! Mixing ads with „real“ reviews confuses the consumer and is deliberately misleading!
19 kg with a 1.5kg rainge extender and less torque? They do look nice but the battery barnacles on the down tube look awful. And the main battery is non removable so you need to charge on the bike. We just need 350-400w batteries for full power bikes. It does appear to be an exercise in selling more bikes with no real advantage to the rider.
LMAF battery barnacles you should trade mark the saying.
Do you mean something like the giant trance x advanced elite I think it is, full power 85nm motor and 400mw/h battery (think the medium is under 19kg), with a 200mw/h extender available for a longer ride. Funnily enough I've just been looking at this as an option, as I need something for work (wouldn't need the extender) but also for going to a place like FoD or bike park Wales with friends, where the extender would be required. But when it's the same money as a trek rail 5 or the trance x (around £4000) and they come with a 625mw/h battery , the extender cost about £350. It makes for some thinking about the requirements v costs!!
Why not making these bikes with a 600 Wh internal Battery? In the end the internal battery + extender weight more than the internal 600Wh battery.
I know a lot of people with lightweight eMTB that leave constantly the range extender mounted on regardless the distance of the ride. I also know a lot of other riders that would potentially buy a lightweight eMTB but they aren’t scared by the limited power but by the limited range.
Is there anything like this planned for the near future.
PS: Cannondale Moterra SL is in this direction but with a full power motor that drains much more battery
Very nice light ebike, wow!
Notwithstanting, for a 90 kg biker (before lunch) and 60 years old I prefer the cheapest midweight full powered Neuron:On CF 8 even with 3 kg more. 😉👍
💯 Man, we are so close to having trail access here in Michigan for such a lovely mule. 👊
Looks nice 👍
What’s this… Steve running clipless? 😄
Looks like a very refined design and great bike. I want one! I would get a couple spare charge port covers if running with the range extender. 👍
This is the eMTB I’ve been waiting for, how does it compare to the Whyte E-Lyte?
So.... It's basically the orbea rise? Just a few years after them?
Apart from it being Bosch over Shimano, any reason to pay more for this than the rise that you can get for sub 4K?
Exactly ! I payed my second hand carbon rise 4300€ with 1300 km las october and i was dreaming of a neuron with the SX motor...
I don't know if i should go to canyon and pay pay pay...
And you can pick a rise up from a bike shop which is nice.
Yeah, same thoughts. And you get really good offers for the rise now, you just need to pay around 1000-1500 in addition for the ebike vs non-ebike version (rise vs occam), which is fair and comes close to the real costs of the additional components (600-700 motor, 500-600 battery + remote + cable), no reason to pay 3-4k more than for the similar (or even better specced) non-ebike version
Geo
Not a bad ad from someone who usually say he can’t see the point of mid assist e bikes 🙄
Hows the SX BOSCH motor compare to the CX BOSCH motor? I have CX on my Cannondale with a turbo mode...rated at 85nm it does really great on uphill and got some power....battery is 750w so it lasts a long time...but my bike is a TANK at almost 70LBS! lol......I'd like to know if the SX has similar power to the CX or is it a big power loss on SX?
Bought the Trek Rail 9.0 for 5k few weeks ago and it’s awesome.. they now throw those emtbs at the customer 😅
Hey all,
I’m looking to hire a bike and preferable a guided tour in or around the Brecon Beacons. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are 2 of us that I would class as intermediate riders but happy to join a group. Thank you
This bike or Scott Lumen eRide? What do you think?
So you get carbon frame under 5k? That is impressive. This just might be my next bike.
We want lightweight 700 watt battery bikes
The weight is in the battery... until that technology changes, that is what you're stuck with.
This at least is a half-way option - 400w internal battery for shorter rides, with an extender to give more range as required.
If you can break the laws of chemistry, you’ll be in the money!
But you never know… monoclinic Sulphur batteries might appear in the next 10 years. Then you will get your wish.
cannondale has now 600whr, this one seems at least 1y too late
Nice bike and your presentation too. I am your fan. But Cube's AMS Hybrid One44 offering seems significantly better. It has the same engine, much better features for the similar price and is 1-2 kg lighter. Because of this, I also do not fully understand your choice to present only Canyon to the public. Anyway, I find your presentation useful and I congratulate you on it.
Peeked my interest. I ride natural forest trails but want to cover distance and do climbs without busting a gut. Not sure why they bothered with a Hans Dampf at the front - I'd stick soft Nobby Nics 2.6's front and rear for great grip and roll and if I'm going gnar - throw a Magic Mary up front.
140 F/R - well my mtb I've got it at 150 F/R so not a lot of change there. This would be more stable though with the longer chain stays..
hmmmm food for though.😁
smart system compatible? can u add bosch display?
Yes you can as it’s the smart system. I’ve upgraded my display on my Bosch system 👍🏻
Canyon is doing it right! You can go now and just buy it! Not in 10 months! Awesome canyon!
Guess why, they can't get rid of the expensive bikes 😉
Great review embn 👏
It's not a review it's a 10 minute advert. It literally says AD in the corner of the thumbnail.
@@scareneb Thanks for that
What is the maximum weight of the ebike and the rider? Answer: 130 kgr
A lot of praise. No criticism? Other reviewers found some weak points
Still waiting for "Crazy Fast" to be explained.
Do you ride it in Koblenz?
Yes that's where we shot this video 🤘 Good spot!
@@embn Thank you!
@@Rideoak it is Koblenzer Stadtwald?
@@hellhascome I don`t think so. It`s in the near of the "Fernmeldeturm", at Stolzenfels.
Near by Koblenz.
they should think about the spectral and torque fly too.
They may be doing just that! 🧐
At the moment, I don't have any interest in stay 25 miles on emtb in less time than in my mtb. i have time to stay in the mountain more than the kilometres than the e light bikes provide.
Futermore, in Spain you can't transport in the public transport e _ vehicle's, vehicle which i use tomgo to another mountains zones
I’d much rather take this bike over the trek exe. I trust Bosch much more than the TQ motor in terms of reliability.
Why have you heard of any horror stories about the TQ motor ?
@@davefreeman9347 A few, but I've heard some stories with bosch motors as well so they aren't much to go off of. The reason I'm concerned is just that TQ is very new at making ebike motors, so I'm a bit more hesitant. Anecdotally I trust bosch more because I've had no issues with my mine, so take my thoughts with a thinnnnnn grain of salt hah.
@@LIFEOFSTUFFEDANIMALS I get that a brand that a few have heard of but TQ motor made their first e-bike motor in 2012 with their TQ HPR 120 motor 120 NM of torque their is a old video of Steve jk es riding a bike with one they do look a bit unsightly in my eyes, as for the HPR 50 motor it is one of the few motors that offer a waterproof rating of IP67 which is great for the weather we get in the UK but I’ve heard great things around Bosch’s aftercare and maybe I am a little biased as I do have a bike with a TQ motor 😂🤣 happy riding pal 👍
@@davefreeman9347 I stand corrected, I didn’t know TQ made e-bike motors before the hpr50
5 minutes in, and this is going way too far to sound like an advert. Do Canyon force you to read every bit of their PR guff from their website aloud?
No removable battery, no buy...!
agree,
seems bit old geometry - like 2y old bikes, same for travel wish it had 150mm, with compatibility for 160 front
Can I px for my gremlin (levo) 😂🤙
We dont want to see paid ads by bike brands. Dislike.
It shouldn't be anything to dislike the video about. We're not forcing you to watch it, but paid content allows us to keep bringing you all of the free-to-view content we do here on UA-cam. We only advertise for who we want to and are never instructed on what to say, it's all us, making videos about bikes 👍
Come and talk to me when its 16kgs
Not sub 5k
it's an emtb!
It is! 😮
No easy removable battery... no thanks :(
What do you think of Canyon's new Neuron:ONfly? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇
I've said it often but Orbea did this with the Rise .... HOWEVER, the Orbea Rise is/was significantly lighter, and although it has a Shimano EP8 RS, that's tuned to a max of 60nm, that is the same exact motor that is on the fulll fat emtbs! So what have Canyon actually achieved? Full torque or lower torque you asked Steve? Well, give the consumers a lightweight emtb with a motor that gives them the ability to choose 50/60nm or 85nm, based on what they want to ride that day? Orbea Rise is about 2kg lighter at least and effectively a full fat motor!
Its crap
Awesome bike !
@@eph8334 why?
@@vashon100 well , look at those Fox34 fork stansions. I suppose it depends on what kind of riding you will do. Also the bike is not sub £5 in the video its £7-8k. But generally embn never criticise bikes so their videos are just not a balanced fair view
Just another copy of the Orbea rise. Nice looking bike, but too small of internal battery @ 400w (my rise has the 540w, only just enough imo). Range extenders look rubbish and are impractical. Still dont see anything out there better than my 2022 H30 rise which cost £3800.
Same. Can’t beat the Bomber Z2s 😎
@hogg8984 once you've serviced them... hardly any oil in them, no foam rings from the factory, also cheap dust seals. Sorted them out now with SKF seals, foam rings and Fox 20wt... now feel lovely
@@kevinsmall4727will see how they go :) I will probably look to upgrade them overtime
I would rather this bike than your Orbea Rise m8
This bike is twice the price, I would prefer it as well money being no object
......but!!.....tyres are useless both for grip and protection, a range extender is needed for decent range which is extra weight and ugly...and the charger port flap is just waiting to be knocked off, you can get 600 watts but only at 100+ cadence!, stupid knock block and cabling though the headset..No! .............all to save a few kilos compared to a full fat carbon emtb. Not convinced by this or any other supposed lightweight EMTB.
If Canyon continues to attempt to fill every gap as well as create new ones they will inevitably go bankrupt!
5,430.31 Euro is not under 5k eur, sorry.
Canyon is bankrupt
No thanks
Bu still a very nice bike
Never heard about this, you maybe confuse it with another brand?
No it isn't. You mean Pole?
Still too expensive. you can buy a motorbike for that much.
There are very few new motorcycles available for less than €5K... and far fewer places you can ride them [off road] than an eMTB - but if you want a motorcycle instead, then go ahead.
Can you ride epic singletrack with a motorcycle?
"This doesn't handle like an MTB, it's better"
Ok cool great got you.
"Well actually the sponsor of this video actually do a non-electric version and we can't say it's better than that one".
Hmm ok it's better than MTB's for MTB just not that specific model.
"So you see, a hammer is a tool..."
Jesus Christ dude you've just lost the little integrity you had left. Yes, bike brands sponsor the channel and videos. Yes, the overall review *has to be* positive. Can't you say one thing critical or do Canyon have a gun pointed at you?
4KG less than a full power bike, why on earth would you buy this? I take shits that weigh more.
This bloke always bangs on about categories of riding and what type of bike each bike is and what defines what and what doesn't and what's an mtb and what's an emtb and just goes on and on about the same stuff every video. Just freaking review how the bike rides and what it's like to live with, not three quarters of the video of pontificating nonsense. So sick of it.
Oh don't upset the analogue riders, they are so fragile! Oh you got an ebike you're a cheater, my opinion! see you! as I power pass them on a climb, whimps! get yourself a real bike, that's an ebike in 2024. If you are interested in this puny power ebike watch Samsbikes review, is less apologetic and more real rider experience.
