What you said is exactly how I use XP11 and MSFS. I use MSFS for low and slow and jump to XP11 (will move to 12 when it comes out of EA) for the tubeliners. As you said the "feel" it is just right.
This is the ONLY reason I use XP11 and hardly ever go near MSFS; the taxiing, ground handling on TO and landing, all feel realistic, the aircraft feels like they have mass and momentum, in MSFS, once you get to 10ft above the ground, you don't really have to do much, apart from try not to be so heavy on the rudder as the nose goes crazy!

Very good overview. Great to hear opinions from a real world pilot. Your testing seems very thorough and your explanations are very clear. Thanks! As someone who has only ever used MSFS, it's interesting to see what X-Plane can bring to the table. It clearly excels when it comes to physics. I really hope MS/Asobo can improve the take off, landing and ground handling because that seems to be the worst thing about MSFS now.
The mcdu of the a330 is a little disappointing. It's the default xplane one which is based on the Boeings FMC. While it is not study level if it had the Airbus' mcdu system It would be a lot better.
Still a lot to improve before calling this perfect: ai traffic, realistic engine wear, realistic crash physics, an actual campaign with missions, passenger simulation. Flying over nice sceneries gets old real quick

Does anyone know, if I buy the early access game on Steam, will I have access to the full game when it comes out? I've never bought an early access game, I'd hope it would update...
People will tell you MSFS is better or X-Plane is better, but I think it is far more important as to what your goals are. If you like seeing reality out your plane window, then I think MSFS has X-Plane beat for ground scenery. MSFS probably still has an edge for sky realism but it is much closer (X-Plane 12 is a definite improvement compared to X-Plane 11). For most flight sim enthusiasts, I'd say if you already have MSFS, then adding X-Plane probably isn't worth it unless you like to support flight sims in general. If you want to practice emergency procedures or are possibly building up to a FAA certified sim rig, then I think X-Plane might be the better choice. For people who are going for their PPL and being able to run different failure situations in the safety of a sim where the accuracy of their response to the situation is more important than the graphics outside, there really is only one choice right now. If Asobo ever goes through the process to get MSFS approved by the FAA, then the situation might change. I don't think most flight sim enthusiasts are in that category though. For those who already have X-Plane 11, being able to carry most of the planes you have already into the new version (although there might be a upgrade charge by third parties) is also a factor that might help some.
I’m surprised that engine “backwash” during a wet takeoff isn’t included. I remain hopeful that this will be corrected. I don’t generally like volumetric clouds yet, but this is nowhere near MSFS in that regard.
I can see why people who don't fly for a living would want a sim that feels as real to how a real aircraft flies but for me, who is a pilot in the corporate aviation industry, I will take the fantastic visuals in MSFS over XP12 any day. And coming from a pilot who flies all over the world and has flown numerous aircraft, the aircraft physics in MSFS really aren't as bad as a lot of backseat pilots seem to think.
This man. X-Plane defiantly has the better flight model but MSFS is close as well. It’s only getting better too. Many have not experienced actual flying and go based off what’s online with many being true but others false. It great we have two sims. The two will defiantly push each other to always improve and get better
@@Evulnation I guess all that is needed for something to be right, is for a group of people to agree that it is. If a few people agree that gravity does not exist. It must be true...
I fly the Piper Warrior IRL and the Just Flight Warrior with MSFS feels damn near close to the real thing, especially when I strap on a VR headset. Visuals are nothing to scoff at when it comes to immersion. As for handling, it really is good enough. You'd never get the real feel of an aircraft with your little desktop yoke and rudder pedals, no matter what sim you use. The real Warrior is physically demanding to perform a power on stall or use larger rudder deflections, and the hardware I have feels so damn light and floaty in comparison. The best thing you can do is adjust some sensitivity curves to get a better "feel" more than anything. Not to mention, MSFS does use Computational Fluid Dynamics which is in fact better than X-Plane's Blade Element Theory. The flight model is there, but it's just a matter of aircraft developers deciding to take advantage of that and being able to tune it to better match real world flight characteristics. But, it is still a new thing that came out in SU9. X-Plane has the advantage of many years of aircraft developers tuning their products to X-Plane's system.
Is that because you like the flight model more for the MSFS? Or is it the visual appeal which is undoubtedly better for Microsoft due to the bing maps? Genuinely interested
This remembers me the launch of MSFS 2 years ago. It was so disappointing and full of bugs that i rage-quitted and deinstalled it. I only started to use it after like 15 months. It‘s good but except the visuals - that at the end doesnt make such a huge difference - it has not that much more special to offer right now but at least it has become enjoyable to use finally.
Most of my aircraft don't work propery in 12 and the fps is worse than 11 (depending on weather). Scenery still looks ugly. Don't get me wrong I have 2600 hours in XP 11, but XP 12 has to imrpove a lot of things. These days I find myself flying in MSFS more.
Anyone please help me, I’ve set Toga for takeoff and park brake off, but the aircraft was not moving with takeoff thrust. Anyone here could help me? Really appreciate it guys
Thought you'll do something like a barrel roll or a stall recovery with the Airbus to test the authenticity, then I realized that you won't know how a real Airbus behave to compare...
Anyone been able to observe XP12’s load on the various processor cores? XP11 always pegged a single core on my machine but it seemed to not use any of the other cores, which seemed like a huge s waste of an expensive CPU. Any comments/observations appreciated!
Yesterday I was running MSI Afterburner on 12. It seems that a single core does most of the work still. The usage of other cores has climbed a bit compared to 11 but not significantly. I maxed out all the CPU bound graphics and the total usage never climbed above 20%. I hope this will be improved in the future.
Exactly! I know one thing, I'm not hearing any "WOW's or Ohh's" as I heard when MSFS first shined it's light on a NEW Flight Sim. Please dont get me wrong, i've been flying on X-Plane for years and it has given me many wonderful hours of similated flight. I've spent maney hundreds of dollars on addons, but really, this is just an upgrade to an existing aged Sim. Eventually it will go the way of the dinosours. Just like all things do. I applaud RL for their work and their effort to stay afloat in the market; and maybe the otherside of their market (Pro Version) will still go on, but I'm affraid they have lost me.
XP is the third player behind P3D and the current leader in flight sim MSFS. Likely to stay that way with XP12. The old chestnut of the flight model being better in XP is old hat. The coding behind Blade element in XP and boundary element in MSFS probably gives MSFS the edge on the ability to create better flight dynamics than XP. Devs like Fenix, PMDG and potential others for GA will take awhile to refine the flight model in MSFS, but they are not working at any disadvantage to those in XP.
Not really. According to the last navigraph-survey „how often do you fly any of the following flightsimulators“? X-Plane 53%, P3D 33%. P3D has fallen far behind now.
Those default airports now look bloody marvellous despite being the exact same gateway airports as 11. Xplane being wallet friendly as always which is super Important these days with income being rekt by inflation
The A330 is a massive disappointment. In fact everything is apart from the clouds maybe and the flight model. But interestingly there are so many just way too noticeable bugs even for an open access version. So why did they release it now? Why not give it a few more months? The only reason I see is they didn't want too many more people investing in MSFS because once they have they'll be much harder to get back. This essentially proves they know they can't compete with Microsoft and this is a desperate attempt to keep some of their fanboys with them for a bit longer.
Sadly it looks like modded X-plane 11. Nothing groundbreaking. Too bad because I hoped for something with MSFS2020 graphics (real terrain, cool weather), better ATC and X-plane physics simulation. For now it doesn't meet any of these requirement. Also Microsoft and Asobo are really active with MSFS updates (they also prepare free anniversary update with new planes and so on) so Laminar Studios won't be competetive to Microsoft with this product...
Why can MSFS only do groundbreaking visuals but is lacking in so many other basic features? No real weather-radar, no proper popout screens, no replay etc. And their camera-system is a real downfall compared to even XP9. Not talking about the non-intuitive menu that is much complicated to use (key-bindings included).
I see only going for the graphics and visual parts why don't you also consider physics and flight model as necessary categories infact they are most important things in a flight sim in my opinion. I don't mind if my graphics looks like from 2010 but if i don't get decent physics I probably wouldn't even try the sim.
XP 12 has been a real disappointment. Blurry clouds with very weird cloud shapes, Poor autogen with poor regionalization for the autogen. Mediocre FPS. Graphics from 2013 or 2014. Boeing FMC in the A330. I can’t believe LR released it as it is.
Same as MSFS at release (volcano-explosions, many bugs and missing features like VR, helicopters etc). With the big difference that it wasn‘t released as an early-beta and you couldn‘t test it first for free before deciding. So much worst lol.

well for previous xplane userss it wont require more money since the addons will work eith the ne
This is a DLC upgrade? Token payment?
Does anyone know, if I buy the early access game on Steam, will I have access to the full game when it comes out? I've never bought an early access game, I'd hope it would update...
It does look quite stunning!
I already have MSFS, should I get this too
People will tell you MSFS is better or X-Plane is better, but I think it is far more important as to what your goals are.
Give the demo ago and decide for yourself
I’m surprised that engine “backwash” during a wet takeoff isn’t included. I remain hopeful that this will be corrected. I don’t generally like volumetric clouds yet, but this is nowhere near MSFS in that regard.
it will come in xp13
@@uraymeiviar Dream on 🤣🤣

This is a flight simulator, not a graphics simulator like mfs
Clouds look more realistic than mfs
Awesome looks great and sounds great 👍
Does anyone know if Just Flight X11 models work in X12? A lot of info like "It might", but can't seem to find a definitive answer.
The two will defiantly push each other to always improve and get better
look at mr front seat pilot over there...
@@janushomer9111Not really, no. Just stating what many pilots who fly in the real world think. Seems as if the other comments above also agree.
Sadly the poor scenary will be a decision point for me. They missed a trick with sat scenary
The f14d actually does have fbw. Still looks like a toy flight model though.
MFS is the definition of toy flight model, xplane flight models are great.

Installed the demo, flew it for the allowed 15 minutes. Fired up MSFS and flew the Spitfire for 15 minutes. Landed, then uninstalled X-Plane 12…
Just landed in Samos x in the real world 737 I wanted airbus ha
Anyone please help me, I’ve set Toga for takeoff and park brake off, but the aircraft was not moving with takeoff thrust. Anyone here could help me? Really appreciate it guys
Thought you'll do something like a barrel roll or a stall recovery with the Airbus to test the authenticity, then I realized that you won't know how a real Airbus behave to compare...
This damp effect isnt in msfs 2020☹
Someone will come along and Zibofy it….it’ll just take a long time.
Group has been setup already 😉
Anyone been able to observe XP12’s load on the various processor cores? XP11 always pegged a single core on my machine but it seemed to not use any of the other cores, which seemed like a huge s waste of an expensive CPU.
Any comments/observations appreciated!
Yesterday I was running MSI Afterburner on 12. It seems that a single core does most of the work still. The usage of other cores has climbed a bit compared to 11 but not significantly. I maxed out all the CPU bound graphics and the total usage never climbed above 20%. I hope this will be improved in the future.
Could you "slowdown" the camera movements? It gave me a headache!
If they just work on the grass then x plane 12 can be even closer to msf2020
1:29 I have a lot of hours in x plane 11 I have 109
So everything works and looks as XP11, Ortho looks the same as in XP11. Why are we paying XP11 twice?
I applaud RL for their work and their effort to stay afloat in the market; and maybe the otherside of their market (Pro Version) will still go on, but I'm affraid they have lost me.
you pay for water puddle
Maybe a trip to the optician is in order?
I’m also a real pilot. I don’t think xplane has a better physics. I prefer MFS2020 by far.
Is X Plane 12 ATC as good as MSFS? X Plane 11 ATC was a flop.
They improved it a bit
@@mlx39996 For real. I can't stand MSFS ATC for how bad it is. X-Plane must be a special kind of bad if MSFS is "good" in comparison.
Totally dissappointed by the visuals. We got spoiled by MSFS and DCS...
seems like the sim needs a lot of polishing ill just carry on playing msfs2020 until they catch up
I am not so sure this is a real AirBus pilot? A turn at nearly 90 let alone 60 degrees which is a commercial maneuver. Ohwell
@@frankbyte that’s just simmers. P3D has a large corporate base.
@@johnmaguire2185 XP as well. What other sources about each parts do you have then?
Hope they update soon because the airplanes is amazing just the MCDU is trash and trhe worst ever and really is a joke for a amazing plane
I can’t believe LR released it as it is.
beta
@C H i dont have the beta, im saying truth be told, it is a beta after all so certain things are not the final product i hope.
Same as MSFS at release (volcano-explosions, many bugs and missing features like VR, helicopters etc). With the big difference that it wasn‘t released as an early-beta and you couldn‘t test it first for free before deciding. So much worst lol.
the way i see it...its miles better and more accurate and authentic than MSFS. MSFS is too much a 'game'. X-Plane is NOT clearly, a 'Game'.
