Kelsey, I have to agree with shan_rocks here. Get rudders, and throttle controls so you can be more realistic. Boeing ZIBO should also be more like what you're used to. Thanks for sharing this because as a sim-pilot only, I've always wondered how close some of this "sim-ing" is to actually flying in these commercial planes. The default planes are not bad, but with many talented programmers creating more aircraft, you can find better approximations than the defaults. Also, you can set your own key commands in X-Plane 11, so if you don't have reverse thrusters, set them to an easy to reach keyboard command (example ctrl+z). I also use one of my throttle axis' for spoilers. Hope to see more of your flying experiences in X-Plane.

As a student pilot who has solo'd and done a ton of landing and then tried to replicate it on xplane, this is 100% the truth. If you can land a plane on xplane, you can do it irl 😂
@@RetroFoxZach I wouldn't trust any xplane pilot landing my real life plane. Sure, landing it in xplane is harder than landing the real thing, but the real thing requires a different kind of skillset entirely, skills you can only aquire through real life flying. Only reason why its so difficult to land an xplane plane is because the software is trash, and gives players unrealistic expectations on what flying is really like.
3:25 Just to note: XP11 has yoke steering enabled by default for those who do not have additional rudder pedal hardware, but once rudder pedals have been connected, you can disable yoke steering.
To critics. This is like guitar hero ppl thinking they're real guitarists. He's a real pilot playing a game. A GAME. In all the time it takes an FS gamer to figure out the keys and so on he's been around the world in the real thing with THOUSANDS of hours of training and experience. Xplane and FSX are nice. It's close. But not. There's no configuring of a keyboard for certain functions on any aircraft. It has its functions and you learn them. No changing to fit your will. Next time I'll pull the auto pee button so I can sit in my seat. No I'm not a pilot. Went to school and left for another path.
Spot on! Plus sitting in your favorite uber-gaming chair in a stationary room doesnt translate the feel of an aircraft...the g-forces, vibrations and other physical cues that real pilots rely on to help guide their aircraft better than even the best ground simulators can do :0)
From the internet. Does Microsoft flight sim count as flight hours? They can be used to log flight time. Specifically they can be used to log instrument currency and per 61.65 log training for an instrument rating. (Up to 20 hours) This will apply to other approved sims, e.g. X-Plane. My comment is just to confirm how good these sims really are.
Rasmus, me, too. Kelsey, I’ve been watching Airforceproud95’s plays on Microsoft FS. The most entertaining part is the players’ skill in jargon. Or lack of it 😀 I’d like to hear you get in on that.
As someone who isn't a pilot, but who has landed a 747 in X-Plane many many times, it took me an absurd number of attempts to get anything approaching what you accomplished in your first 3 here. I know the game will do a proper ILS approach, but maybe there was something wrong with how LAX was set up. Personally, always land at DFW.
Great video! Would love to see more flight sim content. I can highly recommend the PMDG 747 for Lockheed Martin’s Prepar3D for more study level aircraft representation and systems.
As Kelsey started his approach, I literally thought in my head, feels like a typical day with United. Kelsey runs the reply. Yup, United. Even in Xplane 11 it is consistent.
I like watching RL pilots flying the sims, it is interesting to hear the comments on the differences. I am a 737 armchair pilot, so it's always great to hear the views from actual pilots.
Hi Kelsey , big fan of your content. This might be a selfish request , but if by any chance you find personal interest and pleasure in it , we would really love to have an actual pilote making sim tutorials where they get to explain things on a technical level for us out there who have huge passion for aviation but will never have the pleasure to fly a plane someday . You'd be the first pilote who does that and that can help a huge community alot . Thanks for all the work you put and really enjoy your content . Keep it up
Forget the yoke, he got a Corsair One i145 which is ~$2800! Liquid cooled CPU and GPU, i7 9700K, RTX 2080, 1TB NVME SSD, and 32 GB of RAM. I prefer to build my own PCs but I would take that in a heartbeat.
Hey Kelsey, you should try Prepar3D and the PMDG 747. :-) More study level and not comparable to the standard 747 in X-Plane. I'm curious what you think about that simulation.
@@74gear Prepar3D is the sim platform, the PMDG 747 (400 and -8) is an addon for that platform which ist superb. You will love it. Its really not a game anymore. :-)
Yeah x-plane's 747 is terrible. The 737 with the Zibo mod is extremely realistic. The only good 747 for any sim is the PMDG 747 for Prepar3D. But it ain't cheap.
Kelsey, a professional pilot playing Xplane: [switching runways so late that he's *inside* the airport perimeter fence] Me, some asshole stoner playing GTA: [doing 17 minutes worth of checklists before I even leave the hangar] ... 🤔 ...
I have some inexpensive rudder pedals I have used since FSX was new. I replace my old yoke, with a Honeycomb Alpha and my old throttle quadrart with th Bravo. I am still satisfied with my old rudder pedals, and I mostly fly high wing aircraft so don't use the rudder pedals much except for landing. Or tight manuevers. Throttles via keyboard, now way! Thanks for flying inside the plane this time. ;)
The wrong runway is down to you, when you select the approach option you choose the runway, there's an arrow on the map of the airport showing which approach you've selected, and a list of runways to choose from. As for the discontinuity error, just select NATHN and then select the empty pink slot, and execute. Not sure how it is in an actual plane, but that's how it's usually done with the FMC in X-plane :)
kelsey, austin meyer (creator of x plane) programmed it so if you dont have rudder pedals then you can use your yoke as an alternative that explains why your moving the rudder with your yoke 👍🏼

🤣
Next: Real pilot flys paper plane.
When I play airplane games I switch off everything and just land
That's me too lol
Bruh you sicko
Yes me im am

@@JonasJohansenIngilae "it not game it sim dumb boy!"
You may want to reduce the deadzone for the ailerons. It looked like the tiny inputs you were making weren't getting registering by the sim. Great video btw
ya I have to get in and mess with the settings for sure, I know everything can be tweaked
74 Gear that and you seemed to not be lining up straight down the runway when you slid over. I felt myself leaning in my chair lol.
Maybe just the different perspective from the real deal versus a 2D screen?
Next up VR! :)
I am a pilot. It cost me many attempts before I landed well on the computer simulator. It is much harder than the real airplane.
As a student pilot who has solo'd and done a ton of landing and then tried to replicate it on xplane, this is 100% the truth. If you can land a plane on xplane, you can do it irl 😂
Well I’ll glad u said that, u motivated me haha I dont have to worry that much anymore. Also I landed using a PS4 controller instead of a Yoke
@@EggiTheShadow Pitch for airspeed, power for altitude is something that most simmers struggle with when transitioning to real aircraft.
I flew a real plane before I ever flew a sim, but I don't agree with that at all lol
Kelsey is my fav pilot he is always makes me laugh I love ur vids Kelsey keep it up👍👍
glad to hear that Army thanks for watching!

Just to note: XP11 has yoke steering enabled by default for those who do not have additional rudder pedal hardware, but once rudder pedals have been connected, you can disable yoke steering.
ur trans 🤮
Thanks. I'm building my flight rig from scratch.
To be honest, you’re really underrated.
Things you probably shouldn't say while flying a plane "I am REALLY high" lol
Spot on! Plus sitting in your favorite uber-gaming chair in a stationary room doesnt translate the feel of an aircraft...the g-forces, vibrations and other physical cues that real pilots rely on to help guide their aircraft better than even the best ground simulators can do :0)
"But they did it on Snakes on a Plane!" :P
Well that g forces do make a big difference.
The game creepy af.
It is actually not a GAME, it is a simulator. Once you learn how to use the simulator it simulates exactly as a real plane flies.
Your reactions literally has me laughing out loud. Again, a rarity in senior citizens. You are adorable.
Omg Kelsey I have been waiting for this for one whole year... Thank You

I respect you getting all the parts for a sim. Hope you do more later on!
More videos like this please. Very interesting to see you at work and hear your live commentary.
From the internet. Does Microsoft flight sim count as flight hours? They can be used to log flight time. Specifically they can be used to log instrument currency and per 61.65 log training for an instrument rating. (Up to 20 hours)
This will apply to other approved sims, e.g. X-Plane. My comment is just to confirm how good these sims really are.
This guy seems like he’d be a blast to party with. Love the channel
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh, ATC this is 74 Golf, and we're going to making a GTA5 style landing on, you know, the shorter strip."
a strip is usually an unmarked runway
Dude my face lit up when I saw the title
well I hope you enjoy the video I need some other sim games to play or settings on here
Rasmus, me, too.
Kelsey, I’ve been watching Airforceproud95’s plays on Microsoft FS. The most entertaining part is the players’ skill in jargon. Or lack of it 😀 I’d like to hear you get in on that.
@@74gear You should check out some payware planes for Xplane 11. They should be much more realistic to fly
Using it in VR is a game changer, in terms of realism. Especially with the live ATC visual enhancement plugins.
Hey Kelsey thank you for accepting my request and playing this game...
That first landing was still pretty impressive considering how late you switched
*Auto land......that's Kelsey's secret for saying I'm lazy....come on man! Grab that yoke, it ain't no joke! :) Great video as always!*
Quite an investment, though(worth every penny).
As Kelsey started his approach, I literally thought in my head, feels like a typical day with United.
Kelsey runs the reply. Yup, United. Even in Xplane 11 it is consistent.
I love the way that his camera just does not want to focus on him
744k subs, good man.
I think it's worth Kelsey taking a screenshot of when it reaches 747k.
Hope everyones doing good :)
I fly A LOT and hope one day... maybe I see you when I’m getting on/off the plane. Keep these awesome videos coming! 🤘

@@74gear that is the Sim I want to try. Was in one as a college student back in77.
I like watching RL pilots flying the sims, it is interesting to hear the comments on the differences. I am a 737 armchair pilot, so it's always great to hear the views from actual pilots.
Thank you! its so cool to see a real pilot playing this sim and hearing his point of view. Please continue. Love it!
"be that guy landing on the wrong runway" HAHAAH like Harrison Ford? No wait that was the taxiway he landed on LOL
If you could bring a *74* in on the taxiway you'd be an aviation God.
Harrison be like, I am late for Calista, so deal with it.
what a schmuck!
This is my first clip from you Kelsey. That is when u made a new follower! !
Why are we converting him from a real pilot job to a fictional Pilot Job lmao😂😂😂😂
can we appreciate the fact that he bought an entire setup including a PC to make this video?
2:17 NOT what you want to hear from your pilot. I hope the comms were off! XD
Wow. Same pic

When MFS 2020 comes out, I want to see you playing it on VR.
VR support won't be included with the initial release, unfortunately.
@@SuperlProlGaming yeah I doubt it would maybe after a year of release vr support would be added

OK, so if you ever hear your pilot come over the PA and say "This is not Ideal".... worry... LOL
Keep it up

well I looked online and it showed some good ones and I thought if I am going to do it, I should do it right... 🤷♂️
If possible the PMDG 777 too
ok those are some other flight sim games?
@@74gear yup. Basically a bette4 version of fsx
When you go to land a real plane after playing this for a few days. I hope it doesnt mess with your judgement!! LOL That would be bad.

Thanks for flying inside the plane this time. ;)
What you dont want to hear from your pilot: ''I am really high, this is not the right runway...'' :D
"...see how it goes, and hope it ends better" are words I hope you never say when landing a real plane. :)
2:26 I got nervous for you and screamed "go-around man". LOL.
I really enjoyed watching this video. It was very informative with a very knowledgeable and likeable host. I’m gonna binge for a bit 😊
Wow you got the Honeycomb yoke! You got all flight simmers drooling.
its pretty cool for sure Daniel, glad you liked the video!
Wow, I can't believe this! this is such a great video!
glad you enjoyed it Rocketry!
kelsey, austin meyer (creator of x plane) programmed it so if you dont have rudder pedals then you can use your yoke as an alternative that explains why your moving the rudder with your yoke 👍🏼
