I'm looking at a lot of Cube related videos because I'm probably going to be the owner of a Cube Kathmandu 750 also with 85nm soon o. Because I'm a tall 2 metres (just under 6'7) and something over 120kg the bike shop has to get back to me on the availability of the 62cm largest frame size. The 12 gear derailleur for optimising both the amount of gears available with the various motor assist levels AND for cycling whenever possible without any assist made me choose Cube over other brands. Hopefully it will be the right decision. And the 85nm of torque will be essential for propelling my 120kg+ and up to another 30kg of luggage/cargo up the hills and into those headwinds which really slow me down. I average 20 kmh over a 20 km commute on an ordinary heavily laden basic hybrid bike. I'm easily averaging 30 on the flats but those hills really slow me down. I don't wear any sports gear and just ride in normal but appropriate clothing and not pushing for performance. But for me, I would want it for commuting on the open roads with no bike lanes or hard shoulders mixing it with traffic for up to 20km commutes. The only reason I won't buy a device like the Volspeed straight away is because if you use it, you immediately void the two year warranty for the motor. The fact that you used it at all will be recorded in the Bosch system so once you use it at all, there's no going back from what I've been told. That's an expensive risk to take straight off the bat. Perhaps after a year I might? We'll see? I intend to own this bike for a long time unless I sell it or gift it on. That's another reason I went for the Bosch system. I have just ordered this exact model bike. I did as much research as I possibly could on the derestriction of the Bosch line of motors as I really want this. From all the evidence I have gathered, it does not matter whether you bypass with Speedbox, Volspeed or crank magnets, the software will know something is abnormal and will eventually disable the motor. I have seen videos of people using this Volspeed system and following all the guidelines, but they always fail, usually after a couple of hundred miles. There is also the warranty issue. Apparently the diagnostic reports will show tampering and will void the warranty.
Hey Simon and thank you for your comment. Your research is well warranted because after all, these bikes ain't cheap and we want them to last a good time. I have now put on my bike a little over 100miles and it's still performing like new. There's no change when I'm in normal operation or tuning chip turned on mode. All works great 👍 I understand the warranty status but let's be honest, if there was an issue, my local bike shop will just send the motor away and I pay for the repair as easy as that. These units are made elsewhere for other countries to go faster, it's just the UK laws that govern them to be restricted. Overall I am happy with the Volspeed tuning chip for sure 😊 Thank you for commenting 👍
Well mate, I have the same chip fitted to my cube reaction performance & it’s done approx 4k miles! Also when the motor bearings packed up I removed the chip & had a new motor fitted under warranty so I can only assume that the software doesn’t detect the chip at all!
I have got a 2023 Cube Reaction Performance 625 as well. I'm not sure what Gen motor I have whether it's the 3 or 4 as I have seen from your comments some have the Gen 3 and some have the Gen 4 with the 2023 model. But also I'm not sure if it's a smart device either lol I have been told that it is, I just don't want to purchase and possibly fit tye wrong chip. Any information would be greatly appreciated 👍

Yes Volspeed should work even with the standard controls. On their website they have tuning chips for all versions of the Bosch unit. I prefer to buy from a local shop also, a: to support local businesses and b: if there are any issues they will be best at sorting them out. Looks like I'm going to stay legitimately manual only for another while.
Enjoy your cycling and stay safe on the roads.
Somewhere in the comments on this vid a lad says he had his chipped and had the motor replaced under warranty with no issue.
Very informative thanks. Any chance of a link to the mudguards please? Thanks keep up the good work.

Thank you again 👍
All works great 👍
I understand the warranty status but let's be honest, if there was an issue, my local bike shop will just send the motor away and I pay for the repair as easy as that. These units are made elsewhere for other countries to go faster, it's just the UK laws that govern them to be restricted.
Overall I am happy with the Volspeed tuning chip for sure 😊
Thank you for commenting 👍
I'm in this exact situation right now, can you give us a report on how your bike is?
Well mate, I have the same chip fitted to my cube reaction performance & it’s done approx 4k miles! Also when the motor bearings packed up I removed the chip & had a new motor fitted under warranty so I can only assume that the software doesn’t detect the chip at all!
@@petewoodhead4449was this with a Bosch CX Smart System?
Hi, will it work without the Bosch Nyon display? thanks..
Yes the chip will work without the Nyon, you can use the standard controls that come with the bike.
Thank for commenting 👍
I have got a 2023 Cube Reaction Performance 625 as well. I'm not sure what Gen motor I have whether it's the 3 or 4 as I have seen from your comments some have the Gen 3 and some have the Gen 4 with the 2023 model.
But also I'm not sure if it's a smart device either lol
I have been told that it is, I just don't want to purchase and possibly fit tye wrong chip.
Any information would be greatly appreciated 👍
How heavy are you? What other options of the eBike did you consider buying?
I'm 17 stone in weight, I flout about that but generally get to 16st when in the summer. Still over weight of course 🤣
I just looked at anything with the Bosch systems as I watched all the head to heads regarding motors and Bosch was night and day different to others on the market.
Cube just came in at a good price and plenty of good components on them too.
I hope this helps, thank you for commenting 👍
A very very good video that, thanks a lot.
A question for you, when you install the V4 does it cause problems further down the line in terms of battery life, distance covered etc please ?
Thanks, Simon.
ive bought the hybrid cube reaction pro 625 but the 2023 version. its 4th gen motor but it doesnt have the screen your bike comes with as standard. i wonder if the volspeed would work with my bike
Hey Michael 👋 thank you for commenting and congratulations on your new bike. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
I upgraded my display to the Nyon myself, it didn't come with that screen as standard.
Yes Volspeed should work even with the standard controls. On their website they have tuning chips for all versions of the Bosch unit. My motor is gen 4 and the chip works great, if yours is the smart version then you'd have to make sure to get the smart chip.
Hope this helps buddy 👍
@@everydaywithmenick hi and thank you for sharing this. I would like to upgrade my purion to a nyon (on my 2022 hybrid reaction pro). Is that easy to change the cable from the purion one to the nyon one ? thanks
did you fit one in the end michael? how was it?
Hey did you buy the screen separately or was it included with the speed box?
No I upgraded to the Bosch Nyon display. That is extra. It can provide much more information more than the standard display. It all depends what you want from your display. It doesn't link to your phone so you can't see texts or answer phone calls etc.
The Volspeed chip is also great and unlocks the bike up to 29mph.
Thanks for commenting 👍
Hi, how is the front suspension? I am undecided to go for the pro or race..
Hi Mark, im not sure i can give you good advice on the front suspension as i dont really know enough about them. All i would say is get the air pressure correct in the forks by a bike shop.
Sorry to be unhelpfull.
Cheers Nick 👍
Any update on this? want to pull the trigger on one but i'm worried that it might give the dreaded error code!
Fear not with this unit, i have many miles of trouble free riding and is has not thrown a error code yet, my pal has done more than me with his Volspeed chip and he has had no issues at all.
It can only go to 29mph but that is so the error code doesnt show its face.
Thank you for commenting, go ahead and make the purchase buddy 👍
@@everydaywithmenick You are a legend.. thanks for the update, nice to hear something from someone with long term usage, and that's not trying to sell me one! Thanks again 👍
@bunkem1 not a problem at all pal, no I'm not getting anything back from this product. Only my enjoyment and knowledge being passed on to other. I'll be getting back out soon now the nights are getting lighter.
That’s why they limit the speed or assistance to 45kph as anything above that causes error codes!
@@petewoodhead4449 thats correct buddy, anything over 29mph throws error codes.
Do you not upload anymore bike videos?
Looks good, interested in getting one for my Cube Reaction Pro. Have you tried the SR Suntour SP12-NCX suspension seatpost? Just got one and it seems good. 👍
The Volspeed chip has been awesome and can be fully customised for your speed. Also the ability to turn it on and off when ever you want during your ride.
I have noticed they are doing them for the Bosch smart systems now so that's a bonus for the newer bikes.
I haven't used that seat post buddy but I have been thinking of a suspension seat post. Does it make a difference on a hardtail bike ?
@@everydaywithmenick it certainly seems to make journeys more comfortable. Doesn't make it a full sus as a bike but makes rides more comfortable. Worthwhile in my opinion.
@@guychesshire how did it fit ok on your reaction as I had to cut the seat post down a little to allow for my height on the bike. That's the only issue I think I'll have.
@@everydaywithmenick that is the slight issue. What size frame do you have? I have a large frame and can measure from the floor to the seat if it helps you to compare to your ride height?
@everydaywithmenick it is 97cm from the floor to the top of the seat
Does this increase noise from the motor?
Heyy 👋 I can't comment too much on that as I always wear ear buds playing music but I'd think it would increase motor noise slightly as its working more.
Sorry I can't help anymore
Thanks for commenting 👍
It doesn’t make my motor any louder at all mate!
You got a link for them mud guards please mate ?
Apologies Josh for the delay, here is the link www.bikester.co.uk/cube-acid-vane-mudguard-29-front-M774620.html?vgid=G1072274
They go with the bike very nicely.
Thank you for commenting 👍
@@everydaywithmenick legend cheers mate!! Just ordered them
@@joshyeo4919 nice job, have you got the same bike ?
@@everydaywithmenick just got the 2023 750 one pretty much the same love it specially with that new chip in it’s unreal how fast it is
@@joshyeo4919 very nice, i think you get a lot of bike for the money with Cube. I did a lot of shopping about when looking for my bike and thought Cube ticked a lot of boxes.
The 750 battery will be even better for you for the range also.
The Volspeed chip just unlocks the bike so much.
Try the chip on dynamic mode for work u won’t be disappointed - ++ - - 👍
Hey Stephen 👋 my modes on my bike are eco tour emtb and turbo. Wonder if your referring to the newer systems available now. But I will try it though. I'm on the bike at work tonight and will try it in the morning.
Thank you buddy 👍
@@everydaywithmenick u might be right I have the new Bosch smart system and use the v4 so it might be a new feature with the v4 for the smart system and kios300
@@wilko2907 you must have the newer Volspeed Bosch smart chip. I just got their email the other week.
How you finding yours ?
@@everydaywithmenick it’s fantastic no errors yet 🤞does basically what you’re does plus the dynamic mode give u more power across all speeds it’s fantastic
@@wilko2907 Is dynamic your top mode ? Like mine is turbo ?
Mine is the same, no errors. It just works great. My team leader bought the speedbox and that kept throwing errors for his. He sent his back.
What kinda range are you getting after installing this speedunlocker?
i can get about 50miles in ECO but you must be conservative, i dont always have the motor turned on and can ride the bike without the motor on flat roads or trails etc.
On TURBO and 20mph set it will do about 9miles it says.
Hope this helps and thanks for commenting 👍
@@everydaywithmenick thanks for the reply! 9 miles sure is not a lot, with a 625wh battery, I wonder how that is even possible..
@@HenrikdaMURDERERER that is with the chip set at about 22mph so if it was only standard at 15mph then im sure it will be more.
Ill have to do an update.
@@everydaywithmenick Hi. How much drag do you feel from the motor when you're pedalling with the motor turned off?
Cheers 👍
I'm telling on you
ooh please dont 😞
Is your bike the smart system? I have a 2022 Trek Rail 7 gen 2 and am looking for ideas on the right system to install. Any recommendations?
Hey buddy and thank you for commenting, no mine isnt the smart system, its the system before the smart system.
If you go onto the website two wheel empire for the tuning chips, they will show you the correct chip needed.
I know they have a range of chips for all makes of bikes and motors.
I hope this helps 👍
Great informative bike upgrade, but you could do with upgrading your microphone as the sound quality is poor. 👍🏻
Thank you, I'm sorry about the audio. It was recorded on my new phone so I didn't think there was an issue. It has dual audio bands, so if you were listening with ear buds in one ear the audio doesn't play as one channel.
I try not to record too much on the phoen and rather be on the GoPro.
Thank you again 👍
Hi Nick
does this effect the warranty ?
Hey buddy 👋 yes it will void warranty on your bike or motor. I went and did it because i would just send the bike in to be serviced and if it requires something it will get it sorted.
Thank you again buddy.
All I did when I had a new motor fitted under warranty I just removed the chip then refitted it when I got the bike back! I can only assume the software doesn’t detect it!
