- I’M BACK! In this video, we're going to be ranking all the animals from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra using the oh so popular tier list system! A long list this time! :)

@@phoebusapollo8365 First, this is the very first time I get a recommendation from this channel. This video has no indication that it's part of a series other than there will be a poll for a future one. For all I knew before you mentioned it, this was the very first installment and it could stop at two videos.
Second, the fact that it's a series and that every installment has been about combat actually makes the comment we're replying under sound even LESS like a joke.
Third, "but so far is based in combat, and animals can still be ranked based on combat" seems unprompted. Kind of like you want to defend the validity of this video's format? As if I attacked/questioned it? As a matter of fact, I think it's fine to make tier lists specifically about combat ability, even for animals. It's an entertaining concept and I have nothing negative to say about it. So I find your bringing it up to be unwarranted. That being said... I do take issue with the fact that there was no indication, prior to listening to the video, that it's about combat. I wish it was stated in the title, because I definitely clicked hoping to see a regular tier list with either multiple criteria or just complete subjective appreciation. It's okay to make a video about which animals would win a fight, but it's best to make the title reflect that. Also, this actually adds to the idea that the comment we're replying under might not be a joke, as, well... couples can be ranked based on combat too, no?
Anyways. Your reply did nothing to address the core of my comment, which was about whether or not it's a joke. You claim they're joking, and I gave one reason why it might not be a joke. You then gave... another reason why it might not be a joke, while claiming "it might change in the relationship video". No shade, but that wasn't very convincing. I still think it wasn't a joke. In fact, I'm even more convinced it wasn't a joke now that you said it was a series about combat.
Flip the Dragons and the Unagi and I agree. The Unagi is basically the serpent with and extra power and the Dragons being able to fly and not wing confined to water makes them more capable.
Definitely agree. The Unagi is effectively the same as the serpent. Dragons are grandmaster fire benders. The Unagi "maybe" water-bends.
I disagree. A flying dragon getting hit with that water attack will easily go crashing down. And he could also just hide underwater where the dragons can't go
@@al2339by that logic the dragon can just stay on land where the unagi can’t go. if you compare a water animal to a land one you’re going to always give one or the other an unfair advantage of their home turf
The Unagi is way bigger than the Serpent. Serpent is longer, but Unagi is probably several times heavier and also has a ranged attack. Arguably dragons are more powerful all around, but the Unagi would likely not break a sweat getting the dragons out of the way as it lives in the ocean where fire is less useful and water guns more useful. I guess it all comes down to where the battle is being fought
Dragons have more versatiblity, but the Unagi has the pure size advantage and not by a small amount.
its funny, I was just thinking that its strange that water is the only element that doesn't have an animal able to bend it naturally, and then you mentioned the Unagi. I would like to think that the Unagi is a waterbender for the sake of symmetry. seems odd that both fire and water draw their power from celestial objects in the sun and moon, but firebenders are the only ones that have an animal master.
Including the Unagi actually creates an interesting contrast. Firebenders draw power from the sun but were taught by the dragons; Waterbenders draw power from the moon and learned to bend water by observing the tides. Meanwhile, the master waterbending animal is an unknowable leviathan from the deep. Perhaps its not a coincidence that the only one ever encountered shows up at a location where the avatar split a continent and pushed a massive chunk of land out into the sea.

@@AceJeremiah they aren't really animals though. Just spirits that choose to permanently stay in the form of koi.
I would add another two tiers and put the Lion Turtle by itself (since it’s basically just a god) then have the dragons and the serpents right below it, then let Appa and the Shirshew have a tier to themselves while moving down the moose lion and the porcupine pig thing (forgot all the names as I was typing, but you get the idea) anything that can fly is OP and Appa being the smartest animal on this list besides the lion turtles gives him a huge advantage.
Fun Fact, Lion Turtles are Older than Raava and Vaatu and both of those Kites are as Old as Time
What about the basilisks that Ty Lee, May, and Azula rode to chase Team Avatar

For non bending human the Badger moles and the shirshoo are two animals not to piss off.
The badger moles as earthbender can simply move the ground making the landscape work against you. Its hard to fight that.
Ostrich horse has some combat, did you forget the elite Ostrich horse mounts when Aang went to that crazy earth bender who wanted Aang to win the war by entering the avatar state. I'd probably put them either in the Trouble or near the Brute status.

Okay, and now we need a tier list that ranks all characters by their power/strength. Maybe also including characters from the comics and the card game.
I don't know about ranking the lionturtes as animals, they are more like spirit-god tier creatures.

Great tier list obviously a lot of animal are missing and for the most of them they dont have a lot of screen time and are not really relevant but in the most important one i can think of :

The cat should be higher on the list. She's the only one who has actually been accused of Crimes and I need to know more. Also I wish you had made the honorable mention pictures bigger and taken just a few seconds more. I wanted to see them.

Hog monkeys seems absolutely terrifying. They look vicious and are based off two animals that will f you up with no remorse. In a similar vein, the elephant mandrill could likely beat even the porcupine boar due to its intelligence. Maybe I'm taking too many liberties but since both mandrills and elephant are smart.....

I assume the bottom tier just suggests something is generally harmless because bloodlusted Bosco would be low brute or high trouble tier.
The Unagi is absolutely a water bender. I believe sea sepents are meant to be the animal counterpart to water benders like dragons are to fire benders. Seems odd that every element would have a living creature that could bend except for water.

I feel like dragons are closer to the upper end of Giant tier than Legendary. Ran and Shaw appear to be wayyy bigger than either of the dragons Roku and Sozin had, or even the white dragon during avatar Wan’s time, they may be a different species of dragon altogether

I really love how Bosco is just a regular bear, which makes him possibly the rarest animal in the entire world of AtLA. Also, I'd rank these animals differently, not based on how much of a danger they're presented as in the show, but how much of a danger they'd be in real life. Bosco is a bear and bears are pretty dangerous. The same goes for cow-hippos, hippos are one of the deadliest animals in Africa. Elephant-koi would be no joke either, koi fish already eat pretty much anything, imagine if they were the size of a whale. I can definitely imagine ostrich-horses having a nasty bite and a deadly kick.

I think a tierlist of how interesting they were would have been better. That said a cow hippo is terrifying. Hippos are one of the most dangerous animals in the world. Moose are very dangerous and I doubt adding a dragon to them helps. The kick of an ostrich horse or rabbaroo could definitely kill, just like their real life counterparts. The elephant koi and rhinoceros beetle are massive and would be dangerous based on their size alone. Rhinoceros beetles irl can lift over a hundred times their bodyweight.
Boars are actually pretty vicious irl, so pair it with a defense mechanism that inflicts pain on their target and it becomes an extremely dangerous creature
Miyuki should be higher on the list judging by one line from herbalist when she met June, Zuko and Iroh:
"Miyuki, did you get in trouble with the Fire Nation AGAIN?"

I'm going to politely object to putting Bosco in the lowest teir. Sure, we don't see him in combat, but he's... literally a bear. A brown bear. Bears are one of the most dangerous land animals in actual nature and coud DEFINITELY do some damage, regardless of how polite and domesticated he is.
i think the Unagi and serpent should be lower. the original benders like sky bison, dragons, and badger moles should be just under lion turtles
Sabertooth Moose lion, polar bear dog ,fire ferret, tigerdillo, Komodo rhino , platypus bear and dragons these are my favorites
giant rhinoceros beetle deserves to be in beast or giant. regular rhino beetles can lift 200 times their own weight and that one is the size of a car.
The elaphant coy shouldve placed higher than the little green fish same thing but giant
I'd argue that anything crossed with a hippo or an ostrich would be at least trouble, if not higher

I think appa should at least go in front of the shshui because I don’t know how it did not get defeated right when appa gave it the head butt because that hit its nose witch should have made it weaker and its head witch should of knocked it out but I think appa should be in front of the shshui and maybe badger moll because it’s blind but that is a debate

Wait, what about basilisks from what was it called "The Chase" episode. Yeah, we did saw them getting owned by benders, but those guys are fairly fast (Probably just tad bit behind the Eel hound) and can traverse small or even mediocre pools of water. Not to mention their incredible stamina that is surely on par with Eel hound, if not better
i would love to see more otter penguins, which make a return in korra but i really wanted to see penguins like near korra's compound
we havent really seen combat but i think bosco could be ranked on what we have seen and know

I feel like so much animals are just missing from the show and books. I mean we barely even get to look at animals in the first place unless Yappa or Momo. All the others just get cameos.
ok i only have one issue and its that theres clearly multiple spercies of dragons, like in the comics theres a greend ragon i forgot its name, in korra the dragon we see Van train with is white and ren and sha appear to be different speciers of dragons when you compare them to say sozins and rokus dragons as they have a very different facial structure and are absolutely fucking huge, cool video tho
