there was a theory suggested that Ty Lee's family was secretly an airbender who survived the genocide but hid in firenation to avoid suspecions. but with the presence of war they kept it in secret. which explains why Ty Lee is very agile like an air nomad. her name also fits as an Airbender. why? Air nomad names where inspired by Chinese. (Fire as Japanese, Water as South East Asians, and Earth as also chinese [though Kyoshi is a Japanese figure but mostly were Chinese inspired like biefong and basing sie great wall])
I think Water tribes were more inspired by the Inuit and other indigenous people in the land near the north pole. I think the official art book confirms this too
I'd argue Mai would be Water and just use well-aimed icicles while her personality could be seen as going with the flow calm seas up until a storm kicks up. Also something something, "icy personality" joke. Ty Lee is literally female Twinkle Toes while the waterbending aspects could be chalked up to Iroh's philosophy of learning from the other styles or the fact that we already know that bending styles can also evolve and vary, like North Water Tribe bending vs Swamp Tribe waterbending or Sun Warriors firebending vs Fire Nation firebending vs Republic City firebending.
I like your twinkle toes comparison haha makes a lot of sense. However for Mai, I don’t think her por so laity matches anywhere close to that of a water bender. Her style with the throwing knives does resemble that of small ice cycle combat though.
I think Sokka would be a fire bender or a water bender with a bit of fire bending temper. He has a temper which we've seen throughout and he's not afraid to hurt someone if it came to it. The air benders were passive benders who went off kindness and gentleness as their nature and while they were dangerous in sense of power they were not known as being angered easily nor were they known to hurt people. Water bending is a go with the flow style, all water benders had that, I bet even Hama did before her time in captivity destroyed her sanity. They were known as level headed and could think on their feet and keep calm. This is actually why I'd say he'd be a water bender because of the leadership skills he demonstrates throughout the show and keeps on pushing ahead. I don't think he could even be an earth bender, he's impatient and an 'on the go can't wait' person, he needs to keep moving and that's not the quality of an earth bender. So Sokka fits water or fire. Ty Lee actually seems more of an air bender. She's a bit aggressive but that could be due from being raised inside the fire nation but as many have pointed out she has a lot of air bender qualities and her facial features match that to Aang as well. Not to mention air and water are both fluid and graceful but can also be terrifying and powerful. Both matters, gas and liquid, move similarly despite being different and that is actually one of the theories on why Aang was able to learn water bending so easily because of how similar they are. But the way Ty Lee moves, it's almost like she's gliding on air and it almost seems like not even wind could stop her. So I think air bending would fit much better. those are the only two I saw not fitting with what you had said, the others fit in my eyes.
@@J2ATVMAIN People have said he's actually Aang's non-bender equivalent as he's gotten some form of his own training in each part of the world. He trained with his boomerang in the water tribe, he learned some physical forms of fighting from the Kyoshi warriors which belong to the earth bending part of their world, he got to work on training ingenuity some at the northern air temple, and he got sword training at the fire nation. Hence why people call him Aang's non-bender equivalent.
Ty Lee is probably the most spiritual non bender, also her fighting style involves a lot of dodging and evading, which is more of an air bender tactic. So for her air I say. Sokka is a pretty non spiritual character, focusing more on the material world. If he did become an air bender he would be like Kioshi's mom and have to rely on fans for his air bending to have potency. That said he would be an innovator in it. Mai I see more as an earth bender, metal bender more specifically, do to how it wouldn't really interfere with her current style. In fact it would enhance it with homing weapons and even a very painful and crude form of blood bending, using the weapons in her opponent as points of control. Though if she did become a fire bender she would use Azula's style over the standard style. Suki however I am more likely to call a water bender because in her instructions to Sokka are about using your opponent's strength and momentum against them. The spirituality aspect of Airbender's is a very valid argument against Sokka as an Airbender I will agree. I still think he has very similar characteristics as well. Enough so to make a case for him being air or earth or water tbh
@@J2ATVMUSIC very true. I largely see him mostly focusing on weapon bending if he was a water or earth bender. Carrying around an amount of his element to bend at his convenience. Also if he was a fire bender I can actually see him dropping the warrior routine and becoming a chief.

well it would be good there would be another water bender in the south pole but it would make the katara being the last one with yon rha less meaningful imo
This really doesn't sound accurate nor a good creative decision tbh, it essentially retcons Sokka's entire character, and the idea that someone just doesn't realize they can bend takes away from the world and makes non-benders just "people who don't realize they can bend yet if giving them powers is ever convenient". I like the explanation, but the idea is off-putting to me.

I see Suki as an earth bender, Ty Lee as an air bender, and I think Sokka would more than likely be a water bender but more offensive. I could see him as an air bender as well. I agree with Mai, she's most def a fire bender. For a few that were not mentioned, I think Jett would ironically be a fire bender. I think Asami from Korra would also be fire.

@@J2ATVMAIN while I do think air is Sokkas next closest element, I think water fits him more because of two main reasons. One is that waterbenders are typically the most resourceful and balanced characters. Going with the push and pull of the battle and using what they can, rather than avoiding the battle entirely until the right opportunity opens up (much like an airbender). And we see that a lot in sokkas fighting style in the episode sokkas master. Plus when he fought Tylee it looked very much like a dance, which water techniques excel at. And the second reason is based on his innate understating of the tides and being able to steer the ship and the pass the test in the first season. To work with the push and pull of the waves and navigate through it safely. I just feel like those are waterbending traits at least more than it is air.
@@alexbuswell3500 I think all of this is super valid, I just think that they all fit secondary to his character overall. I say air for sokka but he definitely has earthbender and waterbender traits like you describe for sure.
I honestly think ty lee would've been a fire bender if she wasnt a non bender and sokka an earth bender, but not like the ones we see in atla, i think he would be a mud bender like toph in LoK. And I love how you did your version of this theory!
Ty lee would be air. She is so fast n agile like an Air bender. Water benders are on the slower side like earth benders. Suki would be an earth bender exactly how you explained, mai would be either a combustion bender or a water bender(like eska) both are serious but when it comes to the point they are fully on it. Sokka is unpredictable for me but seeing how he mastered his sword mens skills he would most likely be a calm fire bender or a water bender
I have a theory that the fire nation not wipe out all of the airbenders but also wipe out the culture, which lead a increase spike in nonbenders, because like how air is the element that is prevalent in every environment, air benders are born among other nations which similar to how the jedi function.
My theory, sokka water because he is from the water tribe so duh on that. Ty Lee even has some of the features of Air plus I read that she could have been a descendant of the air who who could not bend and they just left at either the right time or was to leave. Mai definitely fire she has features of the fire nation. Then we Suki, Earth. Basically she lives in the earth kingdom.
this is my opinion but imagine Mai as a water bender and maybe a BLOOD BENDER. i think she would use those abilities without forgiving. + she has a really good speed & accuracy. imagine her making ice from water and use it as weapon. scary
Airbenders are extremely spiritual people, not really much like Sokka. I see him more like a fire or waterbender. Tylee on the other hand, does resemble an airbender in many ways. She's spiritual, super agile and her fighting technique relies on subduing oponents without hurting them. I agree on Suki as an earthbender.
Suki has to be earth for sure. Her fighting style mirrors tophs bending style. I gotta point out for sokka, he might have been a weaker bender. The only reason katara was persistent with hers was because she was so naturally intensely talented and stronger that most of not all in her time. The whole idea was just super annoying to sokka, so he would be naturally adverse to doing it himself. However that being said, water is a passively aggressive and steadfastly stubborn in its own right! And let's not forget sweet kataras temper...😅 ty lee had to be the descendant of air benders in hiding. She moved like an air bender, reference return to omashu.😊 and chi blocking could be seen as a form of spirit bending which could be closer to air nomad tendencies. Mai is all fire Nation in every way. 😂
I appreciate the comment. And ya I realized that mistake after posting. A lot of work goes into making these videos and I do t always catch everything. I’ll fix that moving forward 👍🏾
So basically everyone from the fire national would be fire benders, water tribe water bends minus the swamp guys and earth kingdom character's earth benders?
Omg did you guys just not see Ty Lee's clothes they are the same with the ones we see in aangs flashback but pink thats the only diffrence and she probably did that to cloak herself from being cought and killed
Sokka is 100% a fire bender. He is super smart in combat, learned multiple fighting styles.. Suki yes we all agree earth bender but also because she learned kyoshi style moves. Ty Lee is airbending, she doesn't fight she blocks. It's a defensive move like airbending. And they believe in protection of the greater good which is why she turned on azula. And mei we all agree is a fire bender but she could be a more specialised one such as combustion.
Bending is spiritual at its routes tho. It has to do with the energies flowing through your body, which is produced from the soul. Any genetic traits, there are some, can come and go under the right circumstances.
Honestly, I think Ty Lee would be an air bender, Sokka would be a water bender, Suki would be a earth bender, and Mai is a fire bender. My reasoning is for Ty Lee that she moves very acrobatically when fighting, and water and air are very similar bending styles, so her chi blocking might just count as an attack that earns her tattoos like Aang. To continue, Sokka does show empathy. He's especially empathetic toward Katara, as the older brother. He's constantly changing, like water, and I mean he's the warrior, the jokster, the womanizer, and big brother all rolled into Sokka. So even though he's different from Katara and other waterbenders, My only other reference being Korra and Pakku, no one's the same, plus the moon spirit is Yue! Coincidence? Probably. Lol

prediction, and my objectively correct opinion: ty lee = airbender, suki = waterbender, sokka = earth, may (mai? i forget how it's spelled) = fire. ty lee has airbender looks along with a very free spirit, she is the most acrobatic and flowy, great at dodging and evading. suki is good at redirecting the attacks and energy of opponents who may be bigger and stronger than her. sokka even tho he's water tribe has a toughness and substance that is characteristic of many earthbenders. he's also kinda stubborn, and always rearing to jump into battle, unlike airbenders for example. that said, i do kinda see an argument to be made for him as an airbender, given his versatility and creativity... lastly, may has a fire bender's "killer instinct" that azula mentions when talking about the dai li. her weapons are also quick and extremely deadly (or would be if it weren't a kid's show), much like fire, lightning, etc.. she's fast and surgical much like azula, but isn't focused overly much on evading like air, standing her ground like earth, redirecting like water. her weapons are basically solely offensive. but she definitely lacks the energy and passion characteristic of most firebenders like zuko, iroh, zhao, ozai, etc.. she's definitely closer to azula's style of fire bending.
From my perspective Ty Lee moves like air bender, not like Aang, but a little bit similar to Zaheer.

A lot of people seem to agree with you
Ty Lee is an underrated queen.
🥹👑
My theory, sokka water because he is from the water tribe so duh on that. Ty Lee even has some of the features of Air plus I read that she could have been a descendant of the air who who could not bend and they just left at either the right time or was to leave. Mai definitely fire she has features of the fire nation. Then we Suki, Earth. Basically she lives in the earth kingdom.
We agree on some things, also yeah I had to look into the Tai Lee theory. I wasn't aware of it at the time when I made this video
this is my opinion but imagine Mai as a water bender and maybe a BLOOD BENDER. i think she would use those abilities without forgiving. + she has a really good speed & accuracy. imagine her making ice from water and use it as weapon. scary
What about the other characteristics that most water benders have tho. Would be dope to see Mai wilin out with blood bending tho for sure
I personally think that sokka would be a water bender ,suki a earth bender , tyle an air bender and mai a fire bender
I think water benders are just a bit too emotional and compassionate to be Sokka but I can get on board with your other takes for sure
I see mai been a bloodbender she just give me the vibe
😂😂😂😂😂😂 this comment right here officer
Ty Lee maybe the only one who fits a bi bender , she fits water and air bending
What about Sokka?
Ty Lee being a bender of ANY element would DEFINITELY make her more cooler! Even better if SHE were the Avatar!😎
Totally agree. Ty lee is badass
I feel like there is a major issue that comes up trying to place Sokka anywhere tbh
I really like your perspective of water in relation to Sokka. Very well said
Mai would be a waterbender
Ty lee would be an airbender
Suki would be a firebender
Sokka would be an earthbender
Wow, you shakes the whole thing up. All different takes then what I had.
found the interpretation of sokka interesting, but agreeable. As for the youtube blur, Its spelt Due, not Do.
Not necessarily, I didn’t say that
Ty Lee and suki gives off air vibes
Really, I would think everyone would agree with me on the Suki take
The only problem with sokka being a airbender is that airbenders are vegetarian and sokka loves meat
EXACTLY
Omg did you guys just not see Ty Lee's clothes they are the same with the ones we see in aangs flashback but pink thats the only diffrence and she probably did that to cloak herself from being cought and killed
👀 why you think she never uses air bending tho?
Sokka is 100% a fire bender. He is super smart in combat, learned multiple fighting styles.. Suki yes we all agree earth bender but also because she learned kyoshi style moves. Ty Lee is airbending, she doesn't fight she blocks. It's a defensive move like airbending. And they believe in protection of the greater good which is why she turned on azula. And mei we all agree is a fire bender but she could be a more specialised one such as combustion.
Super interesting take on Sokka, maybe ill make a video for this
Bending is genetic
This is just a fun hypothetical video assigning elements based on personality, combat style, intelligence etc
@@J2ATVMAIN oh, I see. Makes sense then
Bending is spiritual at its routes tho. It has to do with the energies flowing through your body, which is produced from the soul. Any genetic traits, there are some, can come and go under the right circumstances.
True as well@@alexbuswell3500
Tbh Sokka would be a water bender, Ty lee would be an air bender, I agree with suki would be earth … Mai???
fire
nah bro, u fumbled the bag
Lol how so?
❤❤❤
Probably. Lol
Thanks for the comment, your thoughts on sokka and suki are totally valid and I think you brought up a unique perspective on Sokka's personality and how he is both similar and different to some of the other water benders. Hope I earned your sub!
@@J2ATVMAIN Yes you got my sub. Beware, it’s both a blessing and a curse to have me as a subscriber. I don’t try to, but I can be annoying. I blame my autism for that!👋😂✌️ WATER TRIBE……………………..💜💙
@@pandahead2241 haha no worries bro, welcome
I'm pretty sure Ty lee is already a blood bender.
She has a strong understanding of energy flow and ki points for sure
My boi Sokka is a confirmed bender: a backbender 😂😂😂

My man, you spelled Sokka and Ty Lee wrong in the timestamps!
I didnt make the timestamps, I let youtube auto them but good to know. I'll do it manual from now on
Does anybody know a fanfic named "Manifold" ? I require a link to find it, please.
Not sure I can help bro. Maybe someone here knows
Ty lee is an airbender
Most people think that too.
@J2ATVMAIN thank you for liking; made my day.
@@cameroncunningham2402 I felt the same when you commented ❤️🫡
i only disagree with Ty and Sokka
That’s how a lot of people feel it seems
i do appreciate you coming from a completely different angle@@J2ATVMAIN

Na Sokka and Ty lee needs to be swapped
Haha I respect your opinion. Agree to disagree
Bro.. the way he spelled sokka.. its a federal crime..
It was auto generated
prediction, and my objectively correct opinion: ty lee = airbender, suki = waterbender, sokka = earth, may (mai? i forget how it's spelled) = fire.
ty lee has airbender looks along with a very free spirit, she is the most acrobatic and flowy, great at dodging and evading. suki is good at redirecting the attacks and energy of opponents who may be bigger and stronger than her. sokka even tho he's water tribe has a toughness and substance that is characteristic of many earthbenders. he's also kinda stubborn, and always rearing to jump into battle, unlike airbenders for example. that said, i do kinda see an argument to be made for him as an airbender, given his versatility and creativity...
lastly, may has a fire bender's "killer instinct" that azula mentions when talking about the dai li. her weapons are also quick and extremely deadly (or would be if it weren't a kid's show), much like fire, lightning, etc.. she's fast and surgical much like azula, but isn't focused overly much on evading like air, standing her ground like earth, redirecting like water. her weapons are basically solely offensive. but she definitely lacks the energy and passion characteristic of most firebenders like zuko, iroh, zhao, ozai, etc.. she's definitely closer to azula's style of fire bending.
Very very interesting Sokka take. Not many people ever have him as an earth bender I'm curious as to why you think that
Sokka is a backbender
Hahahaha bro I’m cryin 😂
