That's one of the best lines of the series. Dude is the brother of the world's greatest tyrant, but is appalled that his nephew would say tea is hot leaf juice.

That comic you're likely referring to has Ursa say she WISHES he wasn't his son, after which Ozai grants her wish and decides to treat Zuko as what she wishes him to be; as another man's child. It's part of the reason Zuko is so badly mistreated by Ozai. Ursa messed up using their kids as a weapon. But Zuko is absolutely Ozai's son. He's a firebending prodigy who was beating master firebender Fire Nation admirals and stalemating the Avatar by age 16 and making multi-colour fire by his late teens. You think he got that from a nonbender?

He never really helped Zuko capture the Avatar; instead, he accompanied Zuko as a guiding father figure, a presence Zuko had never experienced but needed in his life the most. If the uncle had helped him, Zuko would have certainly captured Aang.

Yeah even early season 1, he was always very indifferent about capturing the Avatar when they were planning/doing it. He was just kind of there for all of it, just being sitting back and watching it all unfold. If they did managed to capture him, Iroh would’ve properly secretly freed him at some point.
That's because Iroh wasn't playing Zukos or the Fire Lord's game. More than being present, fatherly and uplifting, Iroh was trying to get Zuko to LIVE LIFE no matter where he was. There may have been some White Lotus influence in wanting the Avatar to succeed, but Iroh found purpose wherever he was, and he wanted Zuko to do the same.
My biggest gripe with OG Atla is when Iroh abandons Zuko as Fire Lord to run the tea shop...
Irohs life goal wasn't to make and sell tea. It was to do and be the best of wherever he was, and I just can't see him leaving a very young fire lord zuko all alone during a highly tumultuous time. The tea shop was their best option and goal in exile while living in Ba sing se, not the culmination of his life

I don't think Iroh would have freed him but if Aang did manage to escape Iroh wouldn't try to catch him or stand in his way, he'd prolly be asleep. @@Saulgoodman67677

Hard to think he was literally caring part of the war for a while, having lots of innocents killed and then basically not doing anything to stop it? Yea never thought of it until I saw the live action where he doesn’t show the slightest regret. 😃

Just a reminder that Iroh was never looking for a lotus tile in the marketplace. He likely hid it up his sleeve as a way to stall Zuko's attempts to capture Aang. So he just used the lotus tile as an excuse to go on a shopping spree.

I’ve actually gotten to do a altered version of one of their scenes with my mom. She loves coffee, but one time she gags on a cup someone made and was like “This coffee is nothing more than hot bean juice!” Me - “Mom, that’s what all coffee is.”

5:01 Zuko Never Laugh Or Smiles He's An Angry Grump
After he spoke out of tone and lost to his father in fire duel, he lost his emotions to be happy. But after redemption he could have smiled and laughed after his father lost to Aang

He did laugh once, it was sweet and funny but sad because he hardly ever does. It was when the pirates got their ship stolen. Zuko points and laughs childishly. You tend to forget that Zuko’s still just a boy and for a split second it reminded you of that fact.

What I loved about Zuko and Irohs dynamic is that despite Irohs more eccentric nature Zuko always holds respect for the man that mentored him and followed him on what could be described as a fools errand chasing the Avatar.

Something I realized later is that when Iroh says roast duck, he could be referring to a turkey-duck like the ones from the "Fortuneteller" episode, but he could have meant a turtle-duck. Zuko was probably afraid it was a turtle-duck.
Uncle Iroh is the heart and soul of ATLA.

I feel like every character in animated version had more personality. It's honestly really fun to watch, unlike the netflix live action series where all the characters are just dull and have all the light and humor sucked out of their characters.
Loved how Iroh is so chill in everything because he knows hes so strong but this is not his era and generation anymore to deal with 🤣😊. Uncle Iroh is the best charactee of ATLA! ❤
