Please deals are usually made because the prosecution doesn't believe that he\she has sufficient evidence to convict by jury. They also have a more sinister use. Arrest someone, charge them with a myriad of crimes, have the public defender tell the accused that they're looking at X amount of time if they get convicted, but the DA is offering X amount of time or probation and fines to make it go away.

I went to school with this guy in the 7th grade... he dated my best friend and after he initially got arrested for assault, he had been trying to get ahold of her.... this makes me sick to my stomach...I pray for her family he shouldn't have ever been let out.
