The function of the rubber strap with wave pattern is that when you go for saturation diving, you are supposed to put on that strap over the diving suit tightly so that the waves almost become smooth. When you go deep in the ocean your dive suit will shrink due to the water pressure. If you wear normal bracelet or strap the watch will not sit tight, it will spin around, thereby losing its function. But with the wave rubber strap it will contract and still wear tight on your shrunken sleeve deep under water. That said Pelagos is made for serious diving in mind. Pelagos in my opinion comes out as a modern genuine dive watch.

    Ariel,
The alternating black-red date is actually a very functional feature. As one's eyesight weakens (most people need reading glasses), in small type, some numbers can look pretty similar: a 2 and a 3; an 8 and a 9. If you know that odd numbers are in black and even numbers are in red, you have a better chance of deciphering the number on a quick glance.

After a few years' research to find my first proper watch (thank you aBlogToWatch) I'd grown to respect the Tudor Brand and heritage and instantly fell in love with the Tudor Pelagos LHD. I've never worn watches on my right hand but the quality (and value), effortless style and character made me take the risk. This tool watch does not disappoint. It's just beautiful.

Wear it on the left hand, because this makes it more comfortable. Like the EZM 13 from SINN.

@@powerplay.556 think of that, why did Sinn choose to have crown and pushers on the left for EZM 13???? Pure functional approach.... I love my LHD pelagos because I don't have the disturbing fucking crown pushing on my hand (example: making push ups...)

Adalbert Thomalla then wear the watches behind the wristbone how it usually is worn in older times. Then you‘ll never get issues with the crown digging. I had the same issues and now it‘s the most comfortable position for the watches on my wrist.

100% agree with the comment of titanium being susceptible to picking up scratches. I have this exact watch and after a couple of weeks of desk diving I looks a mess. You should not need to baby a tool watch Tudor.

Black Friday 2016, I walk to my local Tudor dealer. I find myself looking at the shop in shop and see the LHD. I tried it on and just worked. I look at the back and it’s number 16. Wow that’s my birthday. I could not let go. I got it. Letter the dealer tells me that someone offered to contact me and pay a premium. Things special with the LHD, color of the markers, red text, roulette date numerals, LH crown and numbered edition. As far as I know this is probably the only recent numbered edition from Rolex or Tudor.

I love titanium as a material. My wedding ring is titanium. Sure it's not the prettiest, but for a tool watch where function trumps form then it's perfect being very light and extremely durable. I'd buy this tomorrow.

I have tried the Black Bay, Pelagos and the Pelagos LHD. I am ready to purchase, but I can’t decide which one! The Pelagos for me was a touch bigger on my 6.5-6.7” wrist. The Black bay I have loved from 2015, but I seem now to be moving towards the Pelagos LHD.

I like that Tudor and the crown on the left is better for the wrist, if you wear it on the left hand. I think its made for people wearing watches on the right hand, but at my Heuer Carerra is the crown at the left and the pushers at the right, so it wears realy nice.

I do not know. This is an overachiever. A cheaper, cooler planet ocean or sea dweller type piece. The sub and the retro BB58, are comparable pretty boy divers. Both great but the Pelagos is nothing like them. It's a real tool watch. My opinion.

Unfortunately the titanium used in the Pelagos is a scratch magnet. The perfect Pelagos in my opinion, would be a Pelagos made of bead-blasted ice-hardened Damasko steel. Nonetheless I really love my 2nd gen. Pelagos - accuracy is top notch and the lume is second to none...

Coatings are bad news long term. Once they eventually start to flake/ wear, the watch cannot be refinished. That is why Seiko don’t use it on their grand seiko watches. Not using a coating allows for refinishing to as new condition. Be careful what you wish for. :)

It could be used like Omega's über diving watch The Seamaster Ploprof 1200M where the crown on the LHS of the case is a design feature so it does not impede a diver's wrist movements. I like everything about the Pelagos especially the luminous bezel. In the flesh however, or does look cheaper than a Rolex Submariner.

A Leone to answer your question, it all comes down to personal preference. The LHD on the left wrist prevents the crown guard digging into the back of the wrist, whilst you could wear it on the right wrist if you please. There is no "rule" so to speak, all a matter how a man or woman wishes to their timepiece. Hope that helps
