An incredible artist, one of the most iconic things that he has said is “ I liked being 20 in the 70’s better than being 70 in the 20’s, something I think we all feel from that era. The music was the best🎶
I saw Joe play a free concert for the military in 1991 at Ft Riley, KS. He was terrific, as he always is, and the fact that he gave his time for our military always meant a lot to me, thank you Mr Walsh. Joe's guitar playing is the soundtrack of my life. I can hear one of Joe's old songs and go right back to that point in my life, if only for a moment. Sometimes people imprint on us, even people we don't know or have never met. Joes music imprinted on me. I bet Joe would be surprised by how many lives he touched with his playing and singing, my eternal respect, A Friend of Bills
Ditto I a retired military person and we were always happy when a alRnR group or person would visit our base for a concert and talk to us sign autographs pictures etc
Saw joe walsh 3 years after my dad died in 2017 helped me get on with my life and inspired me to learn guitar. Love ya man id vote for you for president
Finally put that big "See Joe Walsh Live" tick on my bucket list on Friday (07.06.24) when we saw the Eagles in Manchester....boy did he let rip on "In the City" one of those moments when you get goose-bumps all over....he may be 76 but lordy can he still play
I was a kid old enough to ride a bicycle heading to the album factory in HAUPPAUGE L.I. N. Y. in the dumpster was a warped "JAMES GANG RIDES AGAIN" album. I took it home heated it up over the gas stove burner! Wow! What a find!
As a guitar player for 40 yrs now, Walsh has always been my guy. Had the pleasure & privilege of meeting him several times and he was always kind & generous. Levittown L.I.N.Y. Cheers Hauppauge 🍷
Gas stove burner? Did you keep it under something heavy as it cooled? I ironed a Replacements album that was warped for a fraction of a second in between a dry mounting board and a flat kitchen table. A failure as the record flattened but the grooves in the record were practically eradicated. I imagine there are a myriad of vids on how to unwarp a record. Definitely a subject not explored fully.
Joe is one of the nicest guys in the music biz! His advice, "never play it the same way twice, just make sure they like it" rings in my ears every time I'm on stage. I love his poking fun at digital music, and digital recording. His song "analog man" is, and will always be one of my favorites! Old fashioned nice guys are hard to come by sometimes, Joe will always be one. 8) --gary.
that's hilarious I have been absolutely berating myself trying to learn the solos in hotel California and get every note exactly the way everyone on UA-cam is saying it has to be played, then I saw so e if the live versions!😂 I was like they're not playing it like on the album, then I realized wait it's their song I guess they can do whatever they want!
I'm 71, still gigging, and I stopped the note for note thing many years ago. I play what sounds good to me, and/or what I think the audience would like. After awhile you get tenured, then you can give the song what you think it needs! LOL If you like it, and the crowd is dancing/moving, go for it!! Good luck, keep rockin!! 8) --gary
It's funny you say that because I saw an interview with a guitarist the Eagles had to use on tour because someone was sick, and the advice that Joe gave him was to play the solos like you're playing them for the first time and always play them note for note. I can't remember who he was, unfortunately. I guess Eagles fans like to hear the songs exactly like the album version.
As a dad to a young daughter and son, the pain Joe endured from not knowing his father and losing his only daughter really hits home. Much love for you Joe.
Joe is truly an ORDINARY AVERAGE GUY from Ohio who just happens to be a Rock genius! I am an amateur musician and the most fun thing for me to do is strap on my electric guitar, plug into my amp and wail away on "Life's Been Good!" This ALWAYS guarantees me a smile. ☺ GOD bless Joe Walsh!
I met Joe in person once he was the coolest star I ever met and I have met tons of celebs. He is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. I got to see him live right around when Glenn Frey died and Joe sounded awesome! Joe is my favorite Eagle hands down!
there is nice young singer songwriter I loved named Fil Henley that I wish could get together with Joe they would have a blast he goes by Wings Of Pegasus
@@RiverDocs Brother, Joe is the reason I picked up the guitar in 1980. He inspired me to do it. Page and EVH are the other two, but it was Joe who I looked to first. Hey, any man with a big nosed rubber face with his crazy ,screwy looks while torturing his strings with those hyper bends of three half steps is my type of guitarist. I steal so many of his riffs that I should be in jail. His hands are huge and strong as shit like Ed`s. That is one thing I cannot copy, cuz my hands are just average size. We lost Ed, and when Joe and Jimmy pass, I just may drop into a big depression. I am 55 and who knows? Joe might still be on stage when I die, I wouldn`t be surprised ! Back in `87 or `88 I saw Joe at the old Ritz (long gone now) that held 250 people tops, and he was literally two feet in front of me. He walked on stage , went to his mic. and let a huge BUUUURRRP! out and said "How ya doooin?" in a NY accent to start the show. I went with 3 friends and we bet $20 each on what song he would open with. Dave goes "Life in..", Mike said "Funk 49" and Steve said " Turn to Stone". I said "Nope, you guys ain`t even thinkin. Where are we?" "In the City". I made 60 bucks on a no-brainer. I tried my best to get backstage and even had a tiny amount of cred cuz my band was semi-popular locally and we played L`Amours and the China club and CBGB`s alot. I even dropped names, (that is ,or was a big no-no for me 99% of the time) because it was Joe !!!! No go. Not even close. I didn`t see anyone get through. I have no clue why security was so tight that night. But just being so close and watching his fingers so I could see exactly what he was doing. He saw me doing that all night and knew I was studying him. When you are on stage (or even just hanging at a bar or a club) you easily spot the fellow musicians by their behavior, appearance and eyes. We tend to stand still with our arms crossed and look directly at the guitar or bass or drummer, depending on what you play I highly doubt anyone ever studied me, but I saw them judging me all the time. I apologize for the huge comment, I guess I was just typing my thoughts out as fast as they came. Thank you for the video River, I loved it ! Cheers man.😲💥👍🎸🎸🎤🎧🎶🔥
I always knew Joe would go far. As "garage bands" in the 1960s in NE Ohio go, Joe always had that something special. He's always been one of my guitar heroes.
Nicely done. I've been a fan of Joe ever since the release of James Gang Rides Again. Over the years I've said many a silent prayer for Joe in the loss of his daughter and for his recovery efforts. He is a gifted and talented man who makes the world a little better because of his music. Thanks very much for posting and be safe 🙏
Great video. I used to think I was the only one who recognized the genius of Joe. He’s my guitar hero, and my inspiration for stopping drinking. He’s the best friend I’ve never met.
Thank you man for highlighting Joe Walsh. No body does Doc's like you. One of my favorite guitarists. You should see him at Daryl's house, totally awesome. I always look forward to your expertise on your reactions. Peace Brother.
I was so sad to hear the story of the death of his little Emma. It’s a sad fact that the divorce rate for couples who have lost a child is 80%. So sorry for all your losses Joe, but I congratulate you for carrying on! Your rough years of drugs are over, and you were strong and brave to achieve Rehab. You’re having an amazing life! I had the honor of dancing to The James Gang in 1968, at my high school’s senior year After Prom!! It was at Wagner’s Party Center on Center Ridge Road. You guys played a fantastic show for us, THANK YOU! I saw you with Ringo, great gig!
I always loved Joe's playing. Besides his major hits, my real favorites and solos are: I'll tell the world, Midnight Man, his solo in Fogelberg's Part of The Plan. Real emotion and grit in those and I feel that everytime I hear them. His tones and style are unmistakable. Carry on Joe.
Yes, I relate to this completely. I was fortunate enough to see Joe in concert in 2013, Pittsburgh Stage AE. He even spoke briefly about his past, recovery, and current happiness. It was a beautiful and unforgettable evening, and he played flawlessly. Good Times!
Joe you were always great . I remember when you joined the Eagles I was trilled and so happy for you. I know first hand how hard it is to lose your child. What a come back kudos to you.
Joe has always been my guitar hero, until now watching this video I had not known of his three year old daughters death, even now after all these years my heart goes out to him for such a great loss. I have two daughters of my own and are both mothers and grand mothers. I could never have been able to cope with loosing either one.
Joe Walsh is also an American licensed Amateur radio operator. I for one have never heard him on the air operating on any of the several radio bands but he must like still being around with people just with this hobby. WB6ACU is his call sign.
Loved Joe from the 1st time I heard Rocky Mountain Way, He was my 1st rock concert, with The James Gang ,he opened for Foghat in 1974. I loved his album covers and my " The smoker you drink, the player you get" album saw lots of time on my turntable.
I love Joe Walsh! I was blessed to see him in concert with Jackson Brown in Santa Fe, NM years and years ago. I agree with you, Joe is one of the all time best guitarists ever! Brilliant, fun and seriously gifted!! Thank you for this great tribute for Joe ❤
“Song for Emma” has always been one of my favorites. It’s such a beautifully flawless piece of music that you wouldn’t necessarily expect from Joe Walsh. it was only this past year that I found out it was a tribute to the daughter he lost. That is a pain I could not even begin to imagine. Excellent channel buddy. Nice work.
I've always felt that Joe was always an underrated guitar player..listening to the James gang rides again,imo.. was some of the very best guitar playing I've ever heard..that album,to me anyway..is my most favorite..
When I first heard ROCKY mountain way my friend used to play it as we rode around in his Volkswagen, now when I hear it on the radio it brings me back to those happy memories and I want to grab a cold one and ride around listening to Classic Rock. LONG LIVE ROCK!
Also, the addition of Walsh to The Eagles transformed them from a "popular soft-rock sound", to a super-mega rock band! It's no coincidence that "Hotel California" blew the industry out of the water! Walsh put that band over the top.
Yes that's true, but Walsh and Don Felder together are the main reason for their success. Frey and Henley wrote great Lyrics, but so did Walsh, Felder, Schmidt, and their bass player prior to Schmidt. Yet Henley and Frey want all the credit and all the money. Frey had a good "average" voice. Henley has an amazing voice, but Walsh and Felder's guitars put the EAGLES on the map as a great sound, great rock band, not just your run or the mill country-rock band. All of them together were a hard working band that deserve the accolades they've received, not just Frey and Henley. It's sad to see when a successful band end up quibbling and leaving a legacy of a bunch of spoiled greedy buttheads when it should have been a bunch of great friends, great musicians, great songwriters who in a world of drugs, greed, violence, hatred, they should have remained known as a successful bunch of men who worked hard, had each other's back, men of equal talent, and men who saw the talent in each other, and loved and respected each other to the very end. Their won't ever be another "EAGLES" whose harmonies soared higher, sounded fuller, and rang truer that the EAGLES. God bless you all from then to now and May God bless you all for the music you gave this world. How great it would be to be able for you to forget the hate and negativity and remember the smiles and good times and to share it all in one last tour of the world and have all of those who made and make you great, if for nothing else but for your fans who would so appreciate it. I'm sure it would bring back many a great memory as well as many tears for 2-4 hours in our lives which now long for positive love and the greatest music ever played by the greatest band who played it and sang it like no others. Come on guys, leave us with one last amazing legacy to remember and put the past behind and bring back the love and spread forgiveness, even if, even if, you don't love each other anymore😇🇺🇸🇺🇦❤️🤫
@@robertjohnson3855 "their bass player prior to Schmitt" My goodness mate, for an Eagles "expert" that was one of the biggest backhanded , disrespectful things I've ever read regarding the late great , Randy Miesner. Pick up your act for crying out loud.
I adore Joe Walsh for exactly the reasons you gave. I saw the Eagles 4 times over the years but one of my favorite shows ever was seeing Joe at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano Dec.9 2000 . It's a small venue of about 500 capacity and I had stage side seats......it was awesome. Afterward I had the chance to meet him and got 2 autographs. One on my Eagle's Hell Freezes Over program and the other his Anthology "Look What I Did". He was awesome just a warm guy. I am so happy for how he turned his life around.
The Smoker you drink album came out when I was in middle school. Me and my friend were so intrigued by it we formed our own band. Didn't do much with it but we had fun. I want to see him live again, I see he's in Vegas now.
His guitar solos on take a look around, bluebird, midnight man and white man, black man are among my favorites of all time by anybody. Furthermore the sound he got on James Gang live Is the best ever.
"Rides Again" was one of the first three albums I bought waaay back when. It still rides high on my playlist today. The duet...as it were...with Don Felder in "Hotel California" is simply classic. A sound that while defining Joe as one of the best ever, also shows that his chops can blend with others without losing their "Joe-ness". You brought to mind Dwane and Dickie, and I have to agree that the two Eagles albums with Don and Joe are as classic as the ABB discs with the duo of D n D.
Joe was an inspiration for me as a young guitar player. I'm 68 now and still revel in his music 🎶 I'm privileged to have seen him in his first tour with The Eagles! I've seen them all (great guitarist) over the years, but Joe is clearly a cut above 98% Funk 49 is a classic from the time it was released!! ❤❤❤
I have to say that 'Barnstorm' is certainly one of my all time favs. Love the atmosphere created by the songs on this album. Wore out the cassette in the 1970's, scored an Original Master Recording on CD in 1990 and finally in 2020 I was able to find a near mint original vinyl pressing. Wonderful stuff.
Spot On, RD's! I grew up a Page - Clapton - Beck kid. But when JG Rides Again hit the shelves, I just couldn't stop singing the praises of Joe Walsh, and continue to. Seen/Heard him multiple times, I think Joe is one of the most talented Rock Guitarists in the world! Keep em coming!🎸
Even though he is from before my era, Joe Walsh is in my top 3 of allll time, easily. Might even be #2. As soon as I became aware of him and his work (my mom playing me James Gang records she has and always loved), I was all in. After that, I sought out everything Joe Walsh. Joe is a beast. \m/
Joe has always been one of my favorite guitarists. The first time I heard the opening of Funk 49 I was hooked for life! Still wishing for a James Gang reunion!
Here's what so impressive about Joe Walsh; he's been through so much drama and so much turmoil in an already crazy industry... and through it all he has been likeable and genuine and positive. Seriously, how you can be in a band with the likes of Frey and Henley and manage to stay out of the mudslinging is beyond amazing. I don't admire many celebs but he is certainly one of the few that I look up to.
‘You Can’t Argue With A Sick Mind’ has always been one of my favorite albums. And of course ‘But Seriously, Folks…’ is another classic album. Thanks for this great video about Joe. I learned a lot.
I saw the old TV appearance where he wears a Tie-Dye t-shirt --- He was absolutely HAMMERED, when the song was done and he started talking to the Host he couldn't even speak. ... He's my Hero for standing up, shaking himself off and saving his life. (GREAT Bio Man, lookin' forward to more!)
Healey was my favorite guitarist 🎸 but after actually picking a guitar up and learning how to play it iv found a whole new appreciation for walsh he absolutely rocks love how he bends and just his sound its unique im on with the solo for hotel california i love watching the actual video on you tube its a proper riff off makes me excited to learn every time !! 🎉🎉❤❤
what a great video! I was born in 71 and grew up learning guitar in the 80s The eagles I always liked but we were all into metal at that point. fast-forward to 2023 and I'm 52 and have a mom who has wished for me to learn the solo to hotel California for 4 years now for mothers day. so I started digging into it about a week ago, I'm starting to understand why my playing often sounds hollow, just fast scales hopefully in the right key. this is one of the hardest solos I've ever tried to learn. Its so precise and melodic, every bend, every pull has chord context. this endeavor has made me realize skipping over learning a lot of chord structure and things I should have learned in the first couple of years of playing, has had a very different mental effect on my ability to create melodic solos, chords it seems are the solo. all these years I can't believe I didn't get that. anyway thank you and I will definitely check out his solo album.
Joe owes me a show.. from 70’s.. but after watching this..never knew his history..terrible news about his Dad and daughter..I’ll just put on one of his LP’s..headphones + recliner..it’s all good..thanks for the memories
I grew up in NE Ohio. In 1969 I was attending college and playing guitar in a local band. One night I went to a club, The Freak Out, in Niles, Ohio to hear local phenom, Phil Kaeggy and his band, The Glass Harp. At a break, Phil acknowledged Joe Walsh in the audience and a little later invited Joe to the stage. These two incredible musicians jammed for like non-stop 15 minutes, playing off each other and clearly having a good time doing it. It was an amazing spontaneous point in time I was so for to witness. After it all, I realized my future would not be as I rock guitarist, so I stayed in school instead.
Very well made recap. I enjoyed!! The man is a walking legend indeed. We tend to judge too fast. We never know the burden each one carries and how they deal with them. To have turned the page for good shows his character.
My never ending admiration of Joe Walsh, his songs, his guitar chops, and his musical talent, began with The James Gang. He knew early on that his purpose in life was to entertain us joyously, which he does so well, from the heart. Thanks, Joe!
I have always loved his music Seems to me was oneof my favs. Lets not forget that Joe has been a Ham Radio operator for a long time and a serious collector of classic Amateur radios with one of the nicest collections in the country. I'm always listening for WB6ACU. 73 from a fellow ham and music fan.
I really enjoy your docs. You sound a little like my grandpa telling these stories. Kinda warm and comforting. I really enjoyed the one about KISS when they played that outdoor show. Thanks you for making these, looking forward to seeing more
Hi from Aberdeen, Scotland .... thanks for the cool, insightful, video ... I like Joe's playing a lot ... and he's still a fabulous player ... his solo work on In the City at the Eagles' Glasgow show in 2019 was stupendous ... he just was majestic ... they also did a groovin' Rocky Mountain Way ... I would quite happily pay for an updated remix (not remaster) of his albums (on CD or BluRay - but hopefully not screwed up by being over compressed or suffering from the dreaded Loudness effect) ... will check out your other content ... can't beat good music .... CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland
Joe's my favorite guitarist / performer since I first heard Rides Again. Bought all the JG stuff and followed Joe throughout his career, both ups and downs. So What is my favorite album as well. Barnstorm & TSYDTPYG are masterpieces in Walsh and Vitale pushing the boundaries of their music. A telegraph key as a musical instrument? Brilliant! His live album from Kirshner's Rock Concert is fantastic, and But Seriously Folks is right up there as well. Saw Joe the first time with Barnstorm when they opened for Clapton at the Florida Speedway. Next was with Eagles right after he joined the band. It was the July 4th 1976 Bicentennial Concert at Tampa Stadium with Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Loggins &Messina. Still my favorite concert, ever. I've seen Joe many times, since. Uh Oh! Here comes a flock of Wah-Wahs!
I saw that tour in July 76 in Foxboro, Mass. Boz Scaggs opened up . Silk Degrees had just come out! Fleetwood Mac was next and then of course the Eagles! It was a beautiful, hot summer day and my 20th birthday! Where did the time go !
I saw the James Gang with Joe and they were awesome. I too struggled with self medicating and am now proud to say I'm clean. Props to you Joe and thank you for the great music! I'm familiar with your struggle and happy you made it bro.
Back in 75' I went to my second concert it was The Eagles doing the " On the Border tour " . It must have been one of the last stops on that tour because Joe Walsh was with them and they played some songs from Hotel California ! When they announced Joe Walsh was with them and played Rocky Mountain Way I almost lost my mind ! I had no idea he was even going to be there . PK
I have been a FAN for about 4 50 years. WHAT A MUSICIAN !!! I saw him solo at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano about 40. His guitar work was unbelievable ! But he was definitely struggling with substance. I'm so glad he is back playing with the Eagles and touring ! God bless you Joe 🙏 ❤️
Thank God he went into rehab and got cleaned up cuz he wouldn't be with us today if he hadn't and I heard Don Felder had a lot to do with getting him to rehab in fact I think he basically took him there, for any of you that like to read the book heaven and hell by Don Felder it's his story about the eagles and him getting booted from the band which was b******* they just didn't want to pay another person that's the bottom line
I always thought when Joe sang, "I lost my license, now I don't drive" meant that his license was revoked, but Joe clarified that. He in fact, physically couldn't find his license 🤣🤣
Joe Walsh has always been a favorite since way back in the James Gang days. How I missed him losing a daughter,, not sure. But it sure does explain much of the So What album (one of my favorites too). Such a talent.
I love this man to pieces. Not just his music, but the ordinary average guy. If there is one rocker/celeb I feel I could hang with and be instantly comfortable, it’s my man Joe.
I feel a kinship to Joe, growing up,in the Akron,,Kent,Canton, area, seeing The James Gang, playing the college clubs and bars, and opening for whatever act that played in the area. I kind of followed Joe's patch, minus, the drugs and music.Well in 1991,I ,like Joe, got into a put up or shut situation, and I check into Rehab, into where some of Akron' musicians checked into. About 2 weeks left in my rehab, me and another guy in my group, before our morning AA meeting, took turns writing a line our 2 ,on the board, from "Hotel California". Seems those lines,in that song, rang true to our disease. Clean and sober since 10-17-91. I realized that, I "could check out anytime you like,.........but you can never leave". I often wondered if Joe relates the lyric like that..
Started listening to JG when Rides Again came out. I was 16 when I went to the Ohio State Fair to see JG open for Black Sabbath. Few years later as a sophmore at BGSU saw Joe right after Rocky Mountain Way was released (hard to believe that is almost 50 years ago). Saw the Eagles Hotel California tour in Ann Arbor a few years later. Saw Joe and Glenn in Charlotte in the early 90's. Saw the Eagles for the Long Road Out of Eden tour. Last time was seeing Joe was at the House of Blues in Vegas. Probably the best performance ever. Joe Vitale was with him. Everybody talks about him and Felder being a pair, but listening to Walsh and Vitale's drums are quite a magical pairing. I wish I could have seen Joe and "Rick theBass Player" Rojas live. Great video .... thanks for compiling and sharing !
Joe Cool's F A R beyond guitar... An iconic Rock God of the 1️⃣ST ORDER, a great band leader, songwriter, underrated singer, humourist & unique P E R S O N A L I T Y ‼️ ☆ Only had the pleasure of seeing him live, once...with the Eagles, summer of 1978. There were reports of him rollerskating down Jasper Avenue 🤙🏻 🇨🇦
I really enjoyed your doc River Docs, Thank you so much for the time & effort you put into this. I've loved/followed Joe's music since I first heard it in 1972 and with your doc, I'm now so impressed by him as an amazing man.
Thanks for this informative video. Always been one of my favorite guitarists. From acoustic to blazing electric with slide to keyboards. One of my is favorites "Happy Ways". And can't forget "All Night Laundry Mat Blues". Both songs will leave you with a smile on your face after you listen to them. Alot of great music that never made the radio back then.
Loving your doco’s ! Just like you, I may be a bit biased. I consider Joe Walsh a once in 10 generations guitar player and vocalist. It’s not that he is different (which he is ), or that he has a unique style ( which he does ), it’s the simple fact that his music comes from his heart and soul and is part of his genetic make up. I was privileged to see Joe at one of the Eagles Hell Freezes Over live concerts and it was for me the absolute highlight of the show. The second highlight was him and Don Felder playing together……you are so right in saying they complement each other so well ! Keep them coming !
Thanks Jonathan glad you are enjoying them. Oh I'll have more coming. I'm retired now and I take a week or two off to fish or visit family sometimes. I'll have a couple of new ones up by the end of this month though.
Crazy and wonderful. Brilliant. Everything from Joe is from the heart. Thanks. (I was 5 when my dad died. I wonder the same thing Joe does in this respect.)
I've been a huge Walsh fan for decades. Thank you for this video!! I too am TOTALLY biased when talking about him. YOU, more than anyone else, feels the same way as I do about the man. Most people talk about his hard partying ways but leave out the fact that he was self-medicating after the death of his daughter. I consider Joe to be one of the finest guitarists ever! His tone and his tasty bouncing licks are the absolute best! Thank you.
I love Joe Walsh❣️🥰 he certainly went thru a lot and came thru with flying colors. ❤️🥰👍

GOD bless Joe Walsh!
I totally agree with everything you say about Joe Walsh. A true living legend, and just a great human being.
I met Joe in person once he was the coolest star I ever met and I have met tons of celebs. He is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. I got to see him live right around when Glenn Frey died and Joe sounded awesome! Joe is my favorite Eagle hands down!
Hey Timothy B Schmit on base gets my groove, but Joe is the GOAT.
there is nice young singer songwriter I loved named Fil Henley that I wish could get together with Joe they would have a blast he goes by Wings Of Pegasus
Far out I think Fil is cool too @@oldermusiclover
What a fantastic tribute to one of the greatest guitarists of all! He and Don ARE and WERE the sound of the Eagles!
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Cheers man.😲💥👍🎸🎸🎤🎧🎶🔥
What a great memory and tribute to Joe Walsh. No apologies....it was a great read. xo

I love Joe for his genuineness. As you point out, he and Don Felder are each marvelous complements to each other. Great musicians.
I always knew Joe would go far. As "garage bands" in the 1960s in NE Ohio go, Joe always had that something special. He's always been one of my guitar heroes.
First saw Joe Walsh as lead man for the James Gang in 1968. Awesome guitar player and rock star survivor.
Me too, in the Cleveland area.
Loved James Gang didn't realize he was the guitarist, I was 10
Joe Walsh - a legend in his own time. The guy is a genius!
You're welcome and thank you!
He definitely appreciates veterans. And a kick ass guitarist….🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love Joe Walsh always and forever
Thumbs up, he’s a great guitarist👍🏼🎸😎💖 I am like you I love Joe Walsh to like I said, I hope he lives in a long time🎸
Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️
Me too!
Joe "Simply amazing" Walsh. Incredible artist all around. Life has been good, even with the pain. Thank you for allow us to journey with you.
Thank you Joe. Sorry for the loss of your Dad. Phenomenal music. -Ret USAF 🇺🇸
I've always been a fan. Love his guitar work and his lyrics. Glad he didn't just fade away.
Great video. I used to think I was the only one who recognized the genius of Joe. He’s my guitar hero, and my inspiration for stopping drinking. He’s the best friend I’ve never met.
Well said Paul! Thanks for your comment and for watching the video!!
My favorite song of his is Indian Summer. Takes me way back to colorful autumns in NYS
I love hearing Joe Walsh monologue of how he wrote "Life's Been Good". He incorporates the craziness of his fame and how to adjust.
Thank you man for highlighting Joe Walsh. No body does Doc's like you. One of my favorite guitarists. You should see him at Daryl's house, totally awesome. I always look forward to your expertise on your reactions. Peace Brother.
Thanks Mark. Appreciate it. I watched the Daryl's house with Joe. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for your comment and for watching the videos!
Good Times!
Saw him open for Tom Petty
Joe you were always great . I remember when you joined the Eagles I was trilled and so happy for you. I know first hand how hard it is to lose your child. What a come back kudos to you.
Joe has always been my guitar hero, until now watching this video I had not known of his three year old daughters death, even now after all these years my heart goes out to him for such a great loss. I have two daughters of my own and are both mothers and grand mothers. I could never have been able to cope with loosing either one.
Yeah I feel the same way about him. Thanks for the comment and watching the video.
Man I truly enjoy watching and listening to your videos, your way of describing things is phenomenal. Thanks, greatly appreciated.
A truly grand rock guitarist. Navy duty aboard ship, 1973. James Gang album. I couldn't get enough of "Funk" and "Walk Away." Thanks for the reminder.
That album even has YACHT ROCK on it!
James Gang and Foghat! What a show!!!
Walsh is a great guitarist who has the vibe…the mojo…a true rock n’ roll guitarist…
My favorite Joe Walsh song will always be "Life's Been Good" I have good memories listening to that song! 🙏💙🎉🙋
He's still great, saw him open for Tom Petty @ Memphis year Petty died Excellent show
“Song for Emma” has always been one of my favorites. It’s such a beautifully flawless piece of music that you wouldn’t necessarily expect from Joe Walsh. it was only this past year that I found out it was a tribute to the daughter he lost. That is a pain I could not even begin to imagine.
Excellent channel buddy. Nice work.
Thanks man. Glad you enjoy it. Just trying to keep some of these players and their music alive a bit longer.
Have always loved Joe Walsh’s guitar playing! Love that he has found freedom and happiness in his sobriety!! ❤
I know! That was back in the day riding around all day and night listening to 8 tracks , drinking Schitz and not a worry in the world !
I had a 71 Beetle !!
Also, the addition of Walsh to The Eagles transformed them from a "popular soft-rock sound", to a super-mega rock band! It's no coincidence that "Hotel California" blew the industry out of the water! Walsh put that band over the top.
Oh yeah, 100% agree with you about joe Walsh joining the eagles
In my opinion The Long Run is their only good album
@@robertjohnson3855 "their bass player prior to Schmitt"
My goodness mate, for an Eagles "expert" that was one of the biggest backhanded , disrespectful things I've ever read regarding the late great , Randy Miesner. Pick up your act for crying out loud.
Joe has always been my musical hero. So talented . So under appreciated. He's always welcome at my house .
Agreed ❤
Joe was an inspiration for me as a young guitar player. I'm 68 now and still revel in his music 🎶 I'm privileged to have seen him in his first tour with The Eagles! I've seen them all (great guitarist) over the years, but Joe is clearly a cut above 98% Funk 49 is a classic from the time it was released!! ❤❤❤
Ok 68, I'm 74 and saw Joe Walsh with the James Gang in 1969 when the opening act was Led Zeppelin.
@@garygruber1452 Dude, you kicked 68 to the floor, he can't get up, Did the Zep impress? Just curious.
Every time we go see the Eagles, It is amazing the way Joe lends his R&R credentials to the band. 14:24 Very touching documentary…Well done Sir
Thank you. I appreciate that! I really do.
Wow! Enjoyed this doc so much! That island looks like a slice of Heaven. The island has a pure and wonderful history. Lucky Joe! 🌹
Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️
Spot On, RD's! I grew up a Page - Clapton - Beck kid. But when JG Rides Again hit the shelves, I just couldn't stop singing the praises of Joe Walsh, and continue to. Seen/Heard him multiple times, I think Joe is one of the most talented Rock Guitarists in the world! Keep em coming!🎸
Right on. I love all them guitarists you mention. I rate Joe right up there in the middle of them. Thanks for watching!!
He is!!!!
Same here! Thanks for watching!
@@RiverDocs Thank you for covering Joe. nicely done!
Saw James Gang reunion at the Beacon Theater NYC in 07. Incredible show. One of my all-time faves.
Hell Yeah !!
There was a reunion in Columbus Ohio in November 2022
Here's what so impressive about Joe Walsh; he's been through so much drama and so much turmoil in an already crazy industry... and through it all he has been likeable and genuine and positive. Seriously, how you can be in a band with the likes of Frey and Henley and manage to stay out of the mudslinging is beyond amazing. I don't admire many celebs but he is certainly one of the few that I look up to.
Well said Mike!!
‘You Can’t Argue With A Sick Mind’ has always been one of my favorite albums. And of course ‘But Seriously, Folks…’ is another classic album. Thanks for this great video about Joe. I learned a lot.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Joe has always been one of my favorites, and greatest influence. No one in his time had the balls to play, and sing, or just say, what Joe has.
Not only is Joe an excellent musician, he had Stevie Nick's in her prime! What a blessed S.O.B!
Lo mega amo y tener a Steve nick lo hace más grande q dupla
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Joe owes me a show.. from 70’s.. but after watching this..never knew his history..terrible news about his Dad and daughter..I’ll just put on one of his LP’s..headphones + recliner..it’s all good..thanks for the memories
Joe thank you for all you have done .to this day I still play my Les Paul . I am in my 70 now survived Vietnam . Your music so touched me . Thanks joe
Baddass! I agree he is one of the greats.🎶♥️I love watching and listening to him. Absolutely deserves to be recognized. 🌹🌹🌹
Just facts.
No words!!! YOU ARE THE MAN! Thank for all your Inspirational and true to life work!
Thanks you for making these, looking forward to seeing more
Glad you like them!
Where did the time go !
one of my fave Joe Walsh tunes is "All Night Laundromat Blues" really has not a lot of guitar work on it but it speaks of his life in general!
Washing everything I own, except my shoes.
Humanity is carbon based, but Joe turned to stone and is now a diamond.
Without Joe life wouldn't have be so good for us fans of music . True definition of a rock star.
he was my favorite guitarist for several years. still one of my favorites.
Excellent video. Many thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
I saw the James Gang with Joe and they were awesome.
PK
Thank you for the video, my man...Joe has always been one of my favorites !
You're welcome. Appreciate ya watching!
I have been a FAN for about 4
50 years.
A fantastic tribute. Well done. Thank you
I always thought when Joe sang, "I lost my license, now I don't drive" meant that his license was revoked, but Joe clarified that. He in fact, physically couldn't find his license 🤣🤣
Hahahahaha. 🤣
An iconic Rock God of the 1️⃣ST ORDER, a great band leader, songwriter, underrated singer, humourist & unique P E R S O N A L I T Y ‼️
☆ Only had the pleasure of seeing him live, once...with the Eagles, summer of 1978.
There were reports of him rollerskating down Jasper Avenue 🤙🏻

I really enjoyed your doc River Docs, Thank you so much for the time & effort you put into this. I've loved/followed Joe's music since I first heard it in 1972 and with your doc, I'm now so impressed by him as an amazing man.
You're very welcome Char. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and your support.
Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️
He’s my favorite guitarist
I really appreciate the love and support I get from you fans
What a great story... Thanks millions for sharing his life with us. Amazing what a good woman can do too. Just a great story! Thanks so much!
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
i love the song get over it... one of my all time favorite songs
He helped me enjoy more great rock n roll ...forever greatful I couldn't have gotten much higher !!!
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and your comment. I appreciate it.
YES--the only personal aspect of Joe bigger than his talent is his heart. And, he is actually the first to perform for many with the "Talk-Box."
Thank you.
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching and your comment!
Right on! Love Walsh...James Gang -"Walk Away" great gem of early guitar rock
