I do, mainly because I saw him perform with The Eagles in 1977 (before this song came out) They played for SIX hours. They were still playing when we left at midnight.
Just love how Joe has really cleaned up his life and is all about the music now. He's always been great, now he appears to genuinely be having a good time.
I’ve heard it a million times but I think seeing and hearing it live like this, with good musicians doing their thing, shows how good of a rock and roll song it is.
Joe Walsh is one of the most humble musicians of all time. Sometimes I don't think Joe really understands just how much he is adored. My life has been filled with the sounds of Joe Walsh
I literally had this song in my head before I woke up this morning. Was hummin and singing it as I made tea, Opened UA-cam and there was this video at the top of my feed. Life has been good to me too. I had stage 4 cancer in 2020. I beat it! Now I am living life learning guitar, planting a garden, playing with my kids and loving life. Thank you guys for this awesome wake up video.
When my son passed away that night, I listen to his iPod, and this was the last song he listened to I just know he was smiling and singing. Thank you, Joe.
All these years and it just occurred to me that Joe and Steve Miller are very similar in that they both play thick distinctive notes although different motifs. Since I'm an O.F. I remember both their origins.♡.
Besides you Darryl, Joe's voice and playing jump out at me, since i was a child, it's bizarre listening to him speak and walk around, but strap a guitar on him, its like a superhero cape, he turns into a complete alien with powers that baffles the mind
Met Daryl once in an invitation-only setting. No fanfare, all present were keeping their distance, respectful of his privacy. He was incredibly rude to the host and physically pushed past an older gentleman to get to another part of the room, then told the gentleman to “get the ***** out of my way.” Most of us invited guests left at that moment. Being a “star” doesn’t mean one must also be a prick.

omg daryl hall and joe walsh, i think i just died and went to heaven. my 2 ultra favourites in one place. that didn't sound good daryl, it was magnificent. i could listen all night.
Joe Walsh deserves so much more credit. He’s one of the most creative songwriters / guitarists, and he’s just the epitome of rock n roll. He also seems funny as hell. Dude rules! 🎸🔊🎶💜
Love Joe's sense of humour - makes me laugh out loud, and his playing makes me smile . . . Been listening since "Funk 49" was first released. Used to cover it in our band in 1972 - with my then-teen-aged brother playing lead. Joe has such a unique voice - and can make his style fit anything. I saw him accompany James Taylor - who was playing his finger-style on an acoustic (a Martin, I think) - and I think they were doing "Steamroller Blues." It just made me smile. He's definitely one of my faves - and that hasn't changed in 50+ years . . .
I saw this dude play for free once at a 4th of July festival before Hell froze over and the Eagles got back together again. Unkept, long hair, beard. Looked like a drunk homeless person. My God could he play. Love Joe. And I still remember when he walked on stage with the Eagles cleaned up and he got the biggest applause, rightfully so, out of all of them.
It's easy to get caught up in the humor of the lyrics, but underneath that is a complex, well constructed song with great transitions. The way it moves between the soft-pedaled underline of the verses, to the rocking out chorus, and back again gives you the feeling of the hectic life of a rock star.
I agree, as I commented earlier, it's got that sort of lazy, carefree vibe but builds anxiety as the listener is sort of waiting for everything to fall apart for the "narrator".
I love listening to these jams Darryl Hall!! Thank you for creating and sharing them!! Joe Walsh made some awesome music for sure!! For this song, my good friend from high school and I used to sing but we changed the lyrics to “7” not 4!! Those were the days!!!
Saw him with the Eagles in 04 when I was just 5. Man wish I could see him play now. Bit hard to store all those memories having witnessed it so young. But boy did it give me a passion for his music!!! Eagles are my favourite band and Joe my musical idol.
My best friend and I played baritone horns in junior high school. I knew we would never pick up girls playing the baritone horn. So on Christmas of 1974 he got a Rickenbacker bass with a Baldwin amp and I got a Kent guitar with a no name amp. We were on are way. We started a band and had many years of playing proms, ski resorts, clubs and events. He has since died, thanks Jeff, for many great memories.
I hear aged rockers all the time and they sound like do do, Joe Walsh has still got it... He's 76 years old now and amazingly still looks healthy and sounds really good..
I graduated class of 86 and this was voted as our class theme. We were a rowdy crowd. I remember singing this right before tossing our hats into the air at the end.
First time I heard ‘Life’s been Good’ was I believe 45 years ago, holy crap!Love Joe,he has a great attitude regarding life-he doesn’t take anything too seriously.I saw him on UA-cam departing a plane wearing fake glasses,a big nose and bushy mustache,he turned to the cameraman and said,”I’m incognito”,lol.Good on Joe,the world needs to not be so serious,we need to laugh more and argue less.✌️
I have a distinct memory of the kids on the school bus singing every word of this song by heart at the top if their lungs on the ride home from school. Now THAT'S a song. In fact, that's what makes Daryl's House so amazing is hearing these songs from your past, like Howard Jones' "No One Is To Blame" that song is deep in your cranium.🧠
As a kid in the 70s I spent a decent amount of one summer travelling around with an uncle as he made deliveries in his van and he liked the radio on. This song was my absolute favourite at the time. Nice to see Joe's still got it.
Maybe because I'm older, but I so enjoy this version of the song even over the original. We change as life goes on and hearing that "voice of experience" in the lyrics makes the song much more compelling.
This has to be the best version of the song...ever ! Joes double, back grab riff on the guitar and Darryls guitar dump on Cant G Find the Door. Just too funny. Play loud on big speakers and frighten the neighbours 🤪
Joe Walsh - The very definition of a rock star.
really good Jasmin tea?!? that's not a rock star
@@GerardHammond That was Daryl Hall that said and not Joe Walsh
@@thestaffrockband Jasmine tea IS delicious. Can’t blame Darryl for loving it!!
He and Stevie Nicks were an item for a while. Definitely a rock star.
Instead of whiskey and Cocaine? He wants to live a little longer than those of the past...@@GerardHammond
HOW THE FUCK IS JOE 76 YEARS OLD ....? and STILL GREAT!!!
Drugs, the really expensive ones 😂
Daryl is a year older - 77 . . .
Muscle memory.
This was recorded many years ago though...
This episode originally aired in November of 2012. But still impressive for 64 or 65 years old.
I'm so old I don't even think of Walsh as an Eagle...loved playing Funk 49 on my 8-track, that James Gang holds up.
Me too..James gang, 8-track, good speakers, ditching high school…then pop-in Savoy Brown, lol
Absolutely..Don Henley and Vince Gil were all Eagles..
Me three, and they sure do! Our local band played "Walk Away" and I would bug them until they did it, lol...
I do, mainly because I saw him perform with The Eagles in 1977 (before this song came out) They played for SIX hours. They were still playing when we left at midnight.
James Gang Rides Again. Still!
Imagine writing such a legendary song then playing it with a legend in his freaking house! What a life.
The REAL PLAY!! My HEROES AND I LOVE EM)🤟🤘☝️
Daryl and Joe are both LEGENDS!
"This is really good tea!" Funny how many stages we go through to finally end up saying that about tea. ;)
😂
Your welcome!
Just love how Joe has really cleaned up his life and is all about the music now. He's always been great, now he appears to genuinely be having a good time.
This is so freakin' tight. Absolute pros
Nah... These guys passed the 'Pro' level a long time ago.
One of the best rock songs of all time.
it's so languid yet anxiety inducing at the same time. brilliantly written.
That and Funk 49
I’ve heard it a million times but I think seeing and hearing it live like this, with good musicians doing their thing, shows how good of a rock and roll song it is.
Yes my friend absolutely one of the best.

Joe Walsh is one of the most humble musicians of all time. Sometimes I don't think Joe really understands just how much he is adored. My life has been filled with the sounds of Joe Walsh
100% agree, he is one of my favorites
Why do I love Joe Walsh? Even in the old days, when he played and sang ripped. The man alway enunciates each word.
annunciates...😅

Stay well.
I got this song in my head in 1979 when I saw the film FM at Alfred NY. This and Steely Dan has been bouncing (ricochet) around in there ever since.
I'm so glad you are healthy now? Keep living large. Prayers for continued good health. 💪🙏🥳
congratulations on beating cancer!
When you sipped the tea, did you think to yourself, 'Wow, this is some good tea. Joe would like this tea.'
unmistakable sounds of Joe Walsh.
Gotta crank it everytime!
When I first heard this song back in the day, I thought the lyrics were amazing.
Darryl is a genius for this idea. Brilliant. 2 legends
The episodes with Todd Rundgren in Hawaii are the best!!
When my son passed away that night, I listen to his iPod, and this was the last song he listened to I just know he was smiling and singing. Thank you, Joe.
Our son died of alcoholism on 10/30/23. I know how it feels to lose a child. (He was 46). My condolences.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you’re comforted by this and many other memories of him.
I'm so sincerely sorry. I'm glad you can find even a little solace in the music.
Iam so sorry!!
Lovely..I'm glad it gives you comfort. Your son will be listening with you. 🙏
Wow. That was record worthy.

I would literally give a kidney or a lung to see Joe Walsh live before it's too late. Guy's the king of rock guitar.
Ur Funny !!! It sounds like my Oldest Brother that played drums in a band - would say !!! Or he'd say I'd give my left gonad to see him live !!!😁🤣
This drummer is a complete beast. Every video I see of him, is just incredible. Perfect. Daryl is lucky to have him

I'm surprised Walsh even agreed to go to Hall's shack. Hall's vocals remind me of fingernails on a chalkboard.
Does Hall have a reputation as being a bad guy? Maybe he was having a bad day?
As far as Hall sounding like nails on a chalkboard...you must be kidding. His voice is awesome. You're definitely in the minority on that one.
